FL - Anna Kepner, 18, dies aboard Carnival cruise ship traveling from Miami to Caribbean, FBI launch probe, 7 Nov 2025

The uncle posted comments to many news sources on Twitter that carried news about Anna's death from the earliest times it was announced, saying please help me get this out. Many of them responded to him asking for contact. He was clearly incensed and he also claimed he and Anna had late night conversations concerning her distressing living situation after she moved to live with her dad. Its been reported that she slept elsewhere at other people's houses as much as possible.
Yes! Now, I recall him saying that she slept at friends' homes as much as possible and that there was conflict with Shauntel, her father's new wife.

I believe that there are a lot of dark secrets in all the players surrounding this family. I envision Anna as being a lone sheep surrounded by a pack of wolves. She never really stood much of a chance, IMO. She would have, had she survived until high school graduation and enlisting in the Navy. That would have been her ticket to get away from all of this dysfunction.

JMO.
I think, IMO, we do not know exactly what A was subjected to or what she did to survive as long as she did in this complicated situation. 3 moms... I suspect a lot of secrets.

huh? "I cannot say that he is responsible" but "I do not stand behind what my stepson has done." "I want him to face the consequences."

my brain hurts trying to decipher this.

Maybe his lawyer told him he can't publicly state that the stepson is responsible. But he can dance around it.

It almost reads like their lawyers are telling them to hedge their bets on his culpability in case they want to try for an insanity defence later on

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed as part of major cleanup>

IIRC it was grandma Kepner who first publicly called it a murder.

If I may venture an opinion, if a person is not in their right mind, they are not responsible for their actions. At this point, Chris probably doesn't know the answer to whether or not the stepson was in his right mind. But the stepson should still face whatever consequences are assigned to whether he was or was not in his right mind.

Just my thought process.

it reads to me like someone who has been cautioned not to speak about the case but is also not liking how the public has perceived his response to his daughter's murder and feels a need to inform the public he plans on fighting for justice for his child.

Maybe he can't say because the suspect's mother is controlling the situation? The step-uncle, Tabitha's brother, had reported that Shauntelle was "banning" (actually, he spelled it "baning") anyone who spoke out. It also seems she is trying to suppress unfavorable facts and history that would impact her fitness for custody of her 16 year old son and 9 year old daughter. And who knows; she might be fighting for her marriage and her home right now. If those two split up over this, someone has to vacate the family home.

If the case is prosecuted and they go with an insanity defense, the defense will have to prove it.

The defendant has the burden of proving the defense of insanity by clear and convincing evidence.

I'm assuming that Shauntel wrote the obituary for Anna. There were two versions posted online. The first one had Tabitha listed as her mother. It also had all of the siblings (to include step-siblings) listed as "full" siblings; and Tim's name was included. The second one had Heather's name listed as Anna's mother (with Tabitha's name deleted) and Tim's name removed.

It will be interesting to see if Chris and Shauntel stay together throughout the duration (especially, if/when her son is charged). I'm assuming that both of their names might be on the lease for the home where they are currently living.

So Anna’s bio mother did attend her funeral, in case none of the prior posts verified that.

She describes how she was kept from Anna, that she was threatened with arrest for back child support, if she attended. As sad as that is, knowing we all jump on men for not paying, in no way should that be an excuse for not allowing her at her daughter’s funeral.

My suspicion is Anna’s bio father was violent with Anna’s bio mother & threatened her, to keep her out of Anna’s life. He sounds like a control freak that rules with fear & violence. No wonder the oldest stepson bailed. JMO

can someone confirm that this is an approved MSM news source? I haven't seen this anywhere else and if it isn't, this is getting them lots of baitclicks.
Newstoday21 is not an approved source.

Law and Crime reporting that a family member told them the "Not Feeling Well" was "Her Braces Were Hurting Her". If that's the case it seems reasonable that it happened at dinner and the adults didn't see the urgency to go check on her.

Exactly! Odds are she just really didn't want to sit through a loong, whole family dinner after she was finished eating herself, having to make polite with 9 year old kids, the mom of the moment, grands, etc.

It was said that she liked to try different makeup and hair, even if she wasn't going anywhere special so she probably just wanted to grab some time to change outfits and primp for the evening. She did show up later in the casino to visit with her grandmother a bit.

Against all odds and with the difficult circumstances of her life, she seemed to be a very sweet young woman.
