Oh I know alot about cameras!

The officer said the camera is one that has to be turned on by request, like to serveil traffic, and that it doesn't record. So it is one that can be turned on if there is a problem and someone on duty can monitor it live. It must be on kind of a lonely stretch of road even though it gets busy, or not a real problem area for accidents or whatever.

Do they go through poll booths in that area? They have their own cameras dont they?

Hi sweetie.

I don't know they were killed over a car and think it is unlikely that that was the purpose. Sorry, I guess I wasn't very clear. The execution of an entire family just seems, well, overkill, just to steal a car. I'm guessing it is something more personal. Let's hope that the investigators are able to gather enough evidence to resolve it one way or the other.

That section of the turnpike is a long lonely piece. To the north is the exit/entrance at Yehaw Junction and it takes 45 minutes to get to the exit/entrance in St Lucie Co. The turnpike is empty in comparison to I95. The driver of the car/suv is probably lost amongst the many thousands of people in Miami by now.

let me guess..... illegal alien and children shot because she (or the family) could not come up with the money to pay (or refused to pay) the smuggler?

or,, probably more accurate-- another father gone psycho.
how is that? a man presumed to be husband and father is killed with them--

Ok...I am sorry, but I have to vent for a minute here. What on earth has the world come to??? An entire family killed? How??? Why??? I won't be able to sleep tonight just thinking about those kids, and the horror the Mother had to be going through trying to protect them. I can only think of one thing that would lead to something like this...drugs. In specific, I mean methamphetamines. I am convinced it steals your soul. So very, very, sad. I think the world has gone insane.

As far as I can tell, there is no evidence to suggest any of this has to do with illegal aliens. "hispanic" doesn't mean illegal.....jmo

Police are looking for the killer of four people, two adults and two children, whose bullet-ridden bodies were found on the Florida Turnpike early Friday.

Snippets from article:

PORT ST. LUCIE -
Police were looking Friday for any details that would shed light on the slaying of the four -- apparently a family -- sometime in the middle of the night just north of this east Central Florida town.

What is known: The man was 29, the woman 25, the kids -- a boy and a girl -- between the ages of 4 and 6. All were shot several times. All were Hispanic.

The sheriff said the four were apparently shot several times at close range and were likely kneeling or lying on the ground when they died, about 40 feet from the roadway.

They did find one set of faint tire tracks leaving the turnpike, then reentering not far away. Friday night, police said they were looking for a black or dark-green two-door Jeep Cherokee with a temporary tag, which they believe belonged to the victims and that the killer was driving. The description of the car came from the victims' neighbors, but police did not say where the four were from -- only that they were from Florida.

Police said they have broadened the investigation to the southwest and southeast United States.

Mascara asked that anyone who knows of a family that was supposed to arrive and hasn't or who may have any information on the killings to call 772-462-3230.

The victim's car is missing from their home. According to the info in the link below the sheriff ruled out a carjacking. That seems odd since the victims are dead and their car is missing. They pulled toll security tapes so I guess they were recording (Good). The victims are Florida residents and LE talked to their neighbors.

"When Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrived, they found four bodies lying closely together near a stand of trees about 30 to 40 feet off the turnpike's southbound lanes, just north of the service plaza. "Authorities talked to neighbors of the victims and learned that their two-door, older- model Jeep Cherokee was missing from their residence. From this information, investigators think the killer or killers were traveling with the victims in their vehicle. The Jeep is a dark color, possibly dark green, and has a temporary paper tag, Mascara said."

"He did rule out several theories, such as a murder-suicide or a carjacking."

"Investigators pulled security tapes at turnpike toll plazas from Wildwood to Miami and will review them, the sheriff said. Every garbage can along both sides of the turnpike also was emptied and the trash will be sorted through, he said."

or,, back in mexico.

I live in Florida and I'm married to a Hispanic. He's not illegal.

This isn't Texas or California, we don't have a common border with Mexico. We have illegals here but it's not like they can just cross the border.

Many Hispanics here are from Puerto Rico, they are not illegals. They don't have to apply for a visa or become resident aliens, Puerto Rico is a US Territory.

My husband is Cuban, he and his family fled Cuba in the 60s and came here legally. Nowadays, if Cubans come here illegally, they have to make it all the way onto dry land or we send them back. Once they are on dry land, we give them asylum and they become legal resident aliens. This is known as the wet foot/dry foot rule and applies only to Cubans seeking asylum (which is anyone who can make it here).

There is a good chance this family were Cuban or Puerto Rican and had just as much right to be here as I do (I was born here). I don't think it's fair to assume they were illegals just because they were Hispanic.

No doubt about that, but some folks can't seem to help themselves.

Totally agreed, GatorMom. Even if they were illegals, which I doubt they were, they did not deserve what happened to them. Some people need to be more concerned with finding the scum who did this.

On MSNBC they said the family had just moved to FL from Brownsville, Texas four months ago.

They gave the name of the mother (age 25) but I didn't catch it. Also said the boys were only 3 and 4 years old. :(

The mother, identified as Yessica Guerrero Escobedo, 25, was found clutching her two sons in an apparent effort to protect them. The body of the father, Jose Luis Escobedo, 29, was found nearby.

I started thinking about why in the world someone would kill the children. The only thing I can come up with is that the killer must have been known to the children by name. Even a 3-year-old is capable of telling police who shot his parents if he knows the guy's name already.

The senselessness of it is just heartbreaking. The killer gonna's be caught anyway. The police are probably much more determined to catch him BECAUSE he killed the children.

What a brave mother. She did everything she could to protect her babies. I wish every child had a parent that loved them like that.
