FL - Brandi Peters, 27, & her 3 kids found murdered, Tallahassee, 20 Nov 2010 *Guilty*

I feel there is some tie between Segura and Santos. Something like Santos owes Segura a favor or something like that. What does Santos have to lose he is already in prison. I still can't picture Brandi stealing money and having nothing to show for it.

I hope the Prosecution has a good rebuttal. Plus can tie this all up in a bow at the end in Closing.
hmmm? the tie between Segura and Santos. I heard they both attended Liars University 5 star rating and highly recommended on Google Scholars.

This is crazy. This will be biggest travesty of justice if these guys manage to throw this trial. Quadruple murders. He killed babies. What is this a game to them?:(

It takes 7 people? and Santos knows their names? yeah right. That's ludicrous; what did they arrive by bus? The shovel would not even fit in the vehicle. LOL;)

I hope the jury does not get hung up by this partial DNA match to Angel. He was deported in 2009 and attending school in Italy during the timeframe of the murder.

I have attached his transcript.

I don’t believe there’s any tie between Segura and Santos. Santos was in federal custody at the time of the murders. He’s spent most of his adult life in and out of prison while Segura was jumping in and out of the beds of various women. And if there was a connection, State would be screaming it. But Santos had a tenuous connection to Brandi right before the murders. And when she and her kids got murdered, the voices in Santos’ head went into overdrive. He simply couldn’t help himself.

As of right now I see either a NG or a hung jury. The Prosecution will have to have something major up their sleeve to win this case. jmo

Vinnie Politan on CTV brought up the fact that if you believed Santos
rode with Brandi to -pick up a drug car- ....her twins would have just been born at that time....so how do you find a person to watch your newborn twins...was she nursing them..did she bring them along in 2 car seats, stopping to attend to 2 newborns... a la running drugs.
Uh no. Doesn’t add up IMO.

The defense have HS ex girlfriend Tamika Hawkins - on tape from 2017.I honestly think her testimony helps the State ....because she indeed had HS put in jail, received all his tax returns & put in place the garnish of wages.
Very telling is and an example of his cunning method of operation - he told her if she dropped the child support filing, he could get better paying jobs and thus give her more money. HA!
IMO Brandi’s threat was not his first rodeo.
And ...he was NOT going to endure this scenario again!

Rebuttal case so far has been excellent. It's dismantling all the lies told by Segura and Santos. This guy Angel Quinones wasn't even in the country during the murders and anytime he's been in the US he was in custody. He's never walked the streets in the US a free man. There was no way Santos could've met him.

Having said that, I'm keeping my expectations low because I do think that reasonable doubt is a heavy burden and for good reason. This case is highly circumstantial and it may be difficult for jury to convict.

I agree and I think it put holes in the Defenses case. I think Santos was lying, but does the jury. I guess we will have to wait to find out.

Yes I am keeping my expectations low now!

If I was on the jury, her sister’s testimony would slam me back to reality
coupled with the fact he never told any LE that he was at Brandi’s house.
It’s a deviant fairytale that’s gone on for too long.
Kudos to the Prosecutors , I do pray they prevail.

MOO

I think the problem is even if the jury doesn't believe Santos and they don't believe this was a cartel hit, in order to convict they still have to be convinced that Segura did it. So even if they find the cartel hit implausible, they still need something to hang their hat on to convict. So far the evidence against Segura is in Segura vs Segura, in other words all his lies. As for the child support debt, yes, that's a good motive/explanation for why he would do it but I'm not sure that alone carries you to a conviction. If the jury looks at the totality of his lies, the child support debt, BP's taunting, his non-reaction at finding out about the murders, him knowing JaVonte was found in the bathtub and that he thought he was drowned (almost tantamount to a confession! but he was able to reasonably explain that away), his prior willingness to go shoot someone to back up his cousin, his dealing in stolen property/cars and trying to hide that evidence from LE after the murders, his demeanor on cross......have I left anything out?....these all point to strong suspicion. I'm not sure you get to beyond a reasonable doubt. I mean, we know he did it. But when you're on a jury, the burden weighs on you.

I go from high to low everyday. I will be surprised if it is not hung. Last major Tallahassee case I followed was hung; I am a bit jaded.

At least we only had 2 of the 3 liars testify. Washington refused this time.

Happy to see BP had a small voice via her sister's testimony today. I am sure her family would love to get their hands on HS.

If proven guilty, I am afraid this will be one of those cases that never go away. He will end up on Netflix, someone will champion his "cause". There was a lot of controversial stuff during trial one and during the investigation. The DNA not be running once they got the hit on Avila's. I believe there was also some junkie in the crime lab as well. The relationship between the State Attorney and the jail "warden" (father and son). Then the confiscation of his journal in prison. Of course none of this matters to me. He is obviously guilty.

Snipped by me.

Oh don't worry I'm here to reassure you that Magbanua is going down at the next trial!! No doubt! :)

I can't figure out why Quinones' DNA is in that house.....

My understanding it was a partial. It hit upon Q's when entered into KODIS. It did not match Quinone's completely but could not be excluded as his. It was a mixed sample which included BP's as well.
The major controversy/concern was it not being reported for two years.
So when did Santos include Q into his story?

Or did Santos enter the scene after he caught wind of Q's DNA possibly being there?
