I went ahead and submitted Michelle Wells for this Jane Doe. I was emailed back and told that there didn't look like the two had ever been compared and that the panel would look into it. Hoping to give this Jane Doe her name back and find out what happened to Michelle.
Today, Doe Network listed her as Identified: "428UFFL discovered on September 19, 1983 in Broward, Florida has been identified per NamUs. No further information is available."

On September 19th, 1983, skeletal remains of an unknown young white female were found in a rural area of western Broward County. The decedent was estimated to be approximately 15 years old and the victim of a homicide. Over the years, the case and dental records were compared to several missing person files with negative results. This case was reinvestigated in 2008, with the assistance of a forensic artist and community outreach. The efforts yielded negative results on a possible identification of the decedent. In May of 2024, we worked in conjunction with law enforcement and provided a DNA sample for genetic genealogy. In 2025, detectives worked on several leads and located a possible parent of the decedent. The suspected parent provided a DNA sample that was compared to the decedent. In June of 2025, the DNA comparison between the decedent and the suspected parent were a match. The decedent was identified as a 16-year-old female missing from Georgia.
The only 16 year old missing from Georgia in NamUs is Carlene Sessions Tengelsen, but she went missing in 1972. Her name though gave me pause, so close to Carolyn..

ETA: sorry for the proxy link, it's the only way for me to view and share the page
ETA2: the link I posted earlier should go to the page showing the text I copied above. This one: FDLE - Commission Meetings

Wow, that's a coincidence that I bumped Carolyn's case up right as the FDLE was talking about her. Since one of her parents provided a DNA sample, I can assume that they're alive and that they have to bear the sad news that she's dead
Carolyn was found on the side of U.S Route 27 which goes through western Georgia so I assume she was from there. My condolences to her family.

In 1977, Carlene's parents returned to Macon and settled into a residence about four miles from their old one. Her younger sister also returned to Macon as an adult. Carlene's father is deceased and her mother died in 2016, but her sister is sister still alive and in the Macon area
The fact both of her parents are deceased, and the large gap in time lead me to believe this isn't the 16 yo in question
I don’t think “Carolyn” was Carlene, I don’t think the timeline works. And, as @DS2021 pointed out, Carlene’s parents were not alive in 2025, so it can’t be her. It was more like a “what a coincidence”. As for not mentioning the name, as long as the officials release details about the decedent and they don’t mention a request for privacy I think sleuthing is fair game.
