The trial is over for me:
I think she is guilty, but insane, but because of the laws, it would have to be; Not guilty by reason of insanity. I hope that every year, every day, every hour, and every second that she lives from now on, that she will ask for forgiveness for the terrible sin of killing her children and the heartache she has brought to her husband. I hope that Parker can find some peace, knowing he didn't know how to help JS fully and it wasn't his fault- not even the MDs knew how, IMO. JS certainly didn't know how to help herself, never mind her children and her husband. She needs help- a lot of help and I hope she receives it.

I believe Dr. Meyers assessment of JS. He made a lot of sense as to how JS was thinking when she killed her children. On the other hand, Dr. Otto had too many "possible" answers-" Anything is possible, but not likely?". Why/how would he know what is likely to happen in every case? That means it is 'possible" that Dr. Meyers 's evaluation of JS can be correct. It really shows me that MI, when analyzed by different MDs, is really a matter of subjective opinions and theories by each MD and insanity is also subjective. MI and insanity interpretations are not set in stone here. I see Frasier and Niles arguing , who is the better Psychiatrist and who has the better assessments.

"she did indeed know that what she was doing was wrong. They provided insight as to the fact that her actions before and after the murders were very telling into her state of mind and her knowing that the murders were wrong. "

Yes she knew that what she was doing was wrong, but only as it relates to the outside world. In her mind she was saving the children and what she was doing was right, IMO- this was her delusion ("fixed false belief"- that her children would be better off dead.).

I stand by my verdict right now and nothing the Prosecutor will say anymore will convince me otherwise.

Hopefully the man defense attorney will cross-exam Dr. Taylor -- he's so much better at it than the lady.

The housekeeper came to the house on Wednesdays (if memory serves), the killings happened on Thursday.

So where did all those empty bottles of wine and beer come from if she didn't start drinking until after the killings?

could have came from Wednesday night and then of course after the murder --she did say she drank 10-12 glasses :fence:

I believe the answer is yes. And she shot them twice. The last shot was to the mouth on both children.

She had a plan in place but had to change the plan because Beau found the gun. So her plan changed which shows logic, at the time. Could her fear have been the Beau would have reported her having the gun so he had to die in the car?

I would not have a problem with her being institutionalized if she had been cooperative during her rehab but should an institution release her because she had convinced them she is "okay now", I would have serious concerns about what she would do to PS. For someone who wanted to die she sure is fighting hard for the joint money that she and PS held together. jmo

'For someone who wanted to die she sure is fighting hard for the joint money that she and PS held together.'
And for her life now in this trial. Didn't Andrea Yates insist on the death penalty because she was sure the devil was in her?

Hypothetically, I think it'd be interesting if Dr. DeMarte did an evaluation.

Incredibly interesting.

Forensic psychologist. Medical degree from USF, residency in psychiatry at U of Fl. Fellowship at U of Fl -- sub-fellowship in forensic psychiatry. Since 1989 in private practice in Tampa - from 1989 to 2008 combined office based practice treating outpatients with mental illness; also did hospital consultations and had admitting privileges. Gave up inpatient part of practice and then clinical practice. Now concentrates on forensic psychiatry (to do w/ law). Has performed 4000 to 5000 evals of defendants in the criminal court system.

Am I the only one who finds it odd that almost all (if not ALL) of these Doctors attended USF?

It must be an awesome program to be employed at, plus an amazing area to reside in. I find most times these Dr.'s in trials went to school elsewhere than where they end up practicing. That all the ones in this trial seem so attached to USF does seem out of the norm.

His report was the most lengthy he's done in 28 years of practice.

Most of his report (first 122 pages) was a summary of the materials he received and reviewed.

He interviewed JS 5 times, total of 13 hours.

Since she's been in jail, she was thought (by jail doc) to be possibly psychotic -and schizophrenic

While in treatment w/ Dr. Obregon at USF she was diagnosed w/ Bipolar Disorder w/ a history of psychotic features. (no indication that psychotic features were in remission).

Dr. Taylor said there was one episode in summer 2009 where she had fears she was being followed or there were cameras in the house or in the room monitoring her -- in his opinion, that was a psychotic feature. She said she'd suspected that for 2 years. In Dr. Taylor's opinion, that was a psychotic episode.

The more I hear about JS the more "insane" becomes a probability
