Circumstances of Discovery:
On July 2, 1981, a half-buried skeleton was found in a wooded area at Satellite Blvd. N. of S.R. 520 between the St. Johns River and Interstate 95 off State Road 520, near Canaveral Groves.
A human skull and several other bones were wrapped in an electrical blanket.

This skeleton was not fresh when found. I wonder if the evidence of weightlifting shows up as residual drugs in bones. If someone takes steroids, do they absorb into bone and stay there after death? How would they know he was muscular? What is in the bones that would make them suspect that?

Normally I don't like to comment on the quality of reconstructions, but I can't say I'm shocked they didn't produce any leads from that one.
My problem with it is how bare the sculpt is. They should have added hair styles, eyebrows, and ears with clay or photoshop. I don't doubt the accuracy of the recon, but it's just very ugly looking because of a lack of the mentioned.

Wow. They didn't even hide the tissue markers. That's why he looks like he's got cartoon witch warts, but also why it's probably inaccurate.

The wear on the heads of the long bones is an indicator of hyper-activity of the muscles. Steroids are not absorbed into the bone marrow. It does say that they do have good teeth for dental ID, so if the molars are in good shape there is hope for DNA extraction from the pulp.

Retouched out the tissue depth markers.
It does make him look less alien, but it doesn't fix the fundamental problem of the recon itself. The markers exist so that the sculptor can use them to build the clay to precisely that level. But in many places, it's clear that the markers are sitting proud of the clay, by as much as several millimetres. That could change the shape of this Doe's face and features drastically.

(This is in no way a criticism of you, @victoriarobinson642 , I'm just frustrated that no one is going to recognise this Doe because this sculptor went to the trouble of placing all those markers and then ignored them.)

Still no mention of the electric blanket...
The electric blanket is mentioned on NamUs and FL UID Database. Maybe they did not mention it to the press back then thinking it would help them get a suspect? But then wrote it to NamUs and such years later.

I'm more curious about the reconstruction. There's apparently two?
The one on NamUs look like it's picture was taken with a modern camera. Where is the one on the news?

RSBM

There must be two. The mouths are completely different. As are a bunch of other areas.

I came across a suggestion on another site that this Doe maybe this man FL - FL - Allan Terry Kaplan, 39, Boynton Beach, 8 Dec 1977. He went missing about two hours away a few years before. Unfortunately, there is no dental information on Allan Kaplan as there is with this Doe. There is a resemblance. Allan Kaplan from what I have read had no background with weightlifting or heavy labor, though. He was a restaurant consultant who later owned restaurants. I could not find whether he was ever in a car accident like what might have caused this John Doe's injuries. He went missing in Dec and the presence of an electric blanket would fit with this Doe being murdered at a colder time of year, although, after all, this Doe is from Florida. Pictures of the watch found near this guy would be useful and perhaps a clue to his background ( how expensive was it, etc) unless it was a very common type of watch. That is, if the watch belonged to him. It could be unrelated or have belonged to the killer or one of the killers.
