I feel like every time something like this happens we get a comment from DCF promising an internal review etc. It's no secret how understaffed they are - so many well meaning people go in hoping to change and/or save lives and come out cynical, having been stretched too thin to be effective.

I bet if some banks were willing to take a slight hit, a loan forgiveness program would bring in a LOT of young (temporary) staff, kind of Teach for America/Peace Corps style. When I was in my early 20's with an overwhelming amount of student debt and no set career path yet, I definitely would have considered the temporary placement if it were an option. People to check on newborns and their home environments, to look into why a "homeschooled" student hasn't been seen in years..

As it stands now DCF does not have the resources to truly verify if someone who's had their children taken away 7 times is living with the mother of yet another child. It's too easy for someone like that to give someone else's residence as a permanent address - that of a brother or friend, maybe. And that's even if it got far enough down the chain that it needed to be uźverified!

To be fair, I assume the egg donor here must have gotten herself clean while pregnant, otherwise she wouldn't have been allowed to go home with the baby, right? So a lot of the human error here is friends and family of theirs who knew about the historical drug addiction and didn't have the sense or ability to report it. I would phone that tip in so hard if it involved a Facebook acquaintance from high school, much less FAMILY.

As a sidenote, I'm going to overnight that 🤬🤬🤬 a box full of angry hornets if it comes out she's claiming to have been a battered woman, too scared to defy her Awesome Man.

No, mom did drugs through out her prenancy, and afterwards. She probably did drugs with Duane too.

I fully expect a sleezy lawyer to claim his clients are good people, but it was the drugs that changed them., so don't be so harsh in judging them. I will scream if Baez, Cheney show up or comment about Chance or them.

Has any of the other mothers come forward and said why seven children were taken away from JW? I fully expect some to get their 15 minutes on Nancy Grace etc.

I keep gloves around to use when I'm cutting up chicken and meat, to bath our dogs in the skunk recipe when they get sprayed, to use for first aid, and to spray insecticides and things. Someone said last thead that drug users use the gloves to make their veins pop up to shoot up.

I have no idea why JW would of taken Chance out of the garbage bags to bury him unless they thought it would lead back to them somehow . Has anyone said who's blood was on the bed sheets , walls, and light switch?

the little guy had a will to live. he tried so hard!!!

I know. I know. I was clinging to that so hard.

Everyone failed this baby. Every big person who could have helped him didn't show up and he paid for it.

I read - watched another video last night about a baby girl that was stomped to death by mom 's boyfriend. He stomped on her head until it caved in.

Have read/heard about the Coble children? If you need a little hope today, watch the video's of their story.

they find out. sex offenders and high profile cases are segregated often times... but sometimes after years, they mainline them when the ruckus dies down.

Wow!! I got a little behind on this case and I am just disgusted with the new information that has come out about these evil people. Just disgusting. How on Earth. I don't know why I even try to understand because I never will. I tell myself that's a good thing though. Once you can understand these people you might have a bigger problem. It reminds me of something Robert Roessler (sp?) the former FBI profiler said, it was about the quote of staring into the abyss... and he talked about how much he he'd have to step away from learning so much about these types of horrible people.

I know this has already been cleared up but I also have surgical gloves here at home, I use them to color my hair. My doctor used to let me take a few pair from her office, and I just saw a 10 pack of them sold at CVS yesterday (the one from the dr were purple, the CVS ones are blue, maybe that's where they got them). I should have bought some, I meant to color my hair this morning and I didn't realize I'm out.

Anyway, back to the story. I hope they are able to put both of these 🤬🤬🤬 away forever, and I hope they are not offered protective custody. Will their details get out to the population though? I know it's fiction but on Orange Is the New Black the prisoners don't know what the others have done. Do some prisons have access to news or will they come in with a reputation or how does that work, I wonder. I also know a man (NOT A FRIEND) who is in jail for raping his own daughter, and he's never had any issues, I don't know that anyone even knows why he's in there. I just hope these two are high profile enough that people do know.

I was hoping they chained his azz and dragged him to death ... oops did I say that...

I'm afraid it will. And it makes me queasy to even think about. That word - that ONE WORD that peeked out from under the black redaction marks on JW's probable cause affidavit...THAT word that we all figured out with sinking hearts.... I fear that there is worse still hiding under the rest of the black. I fear, too, that there is more horror in the story than what the monsters JW and KB have divulged so far. I knew and was hurt by an addict, and one thing I know for certain about them is that they lie like most people breathe.
It turns my stomach and makes my chest ache to think about poor little defenseless Chance suffering. )-: I haven't been able to stop obsessing over this story because I see his sweet little face whenever I turn away. Poor poor baby. I hope the monsters who did this never see another free day in their rotten lives. Speaking of the monsters....

Does anyone know why it took so long to get JW from SC to FL?
Did JW get out of his first appearance? He deserves every bit of unpleasantness that can come his way.

KB might have been scared of JW, but I'd think more it was the other way around. She's much larger than him. From pictures, he is very small.

Question: Florida can only do first degree charges with a grand jury right? These two have first degree charges right? Does that mean that there was a lickity split GJ decision? How did this one move so fast, or are their other ways to do first degree with a child that does not require grand jury to make that charge?

 but talking about GJ and how long it takes in the Sievers case, and someone brought up how fast this one went to first degree.

Right now I am thanking GOD for KBs Facebook. The jury will take one look at that and any prayer she has of a battered syndrome defense will go right out the window. I'm now SO GLAD she did all that endless gushing about how wonderful, awesome, amazing, best man in the world freaking fantastic JW was and how perfect their marriage was. Even her last words on there, "No matter what happens, good or bad, I will always love you Joseph Walsh", are going to come back and bite her right in the azz if she tries that BS.

Edited to add: Besides that, she already told investigators she didn't call 911 because she didn't want to lose the two people she loved on the same day. Man, I'm glad she's stupid.

In FL first degree murder must go before the grand jury. The accused can be charged and held, but trial cannot commence until the grand jury returns a true bill.

If KBs version of events is proven to be correct, she's likely to only go down for 2nd degree, unfortunately.

According to new documents from the department, Chance's parents were no strangers to them. In one report from this past July, a caseworker received a call that the mother, Kristen Bury -- who has also been charged with Chance's death -- may be on drugs. It was determined that there wasn't enough information in the call to warrant a caseworker going out to the home. DCF said the caller did not appear to have first-hand knowledge that they could use, and Chance was still in the hospital at the time. DCF says the hospital did not report any concerns at the time.

Hmm. Bit disingenuous of them to say they had no investigations involving Chance. They at least had notice.

The Sarasota Sheriff's Office shows the murder charges for Bury and Walsh as pending. Their arraignments are scheduled for November 20. So maybe they're waiting for the Grand Jury? I dunno.

crap. I believe in CA that aggravated child abuse resulting in death is a special circumstance that can result in LWOP. FL needs to sign a bill like that.

I few things bouncing around in my head this morning...

First I said I had to quit this one, but I dreamed about Chance all night last night and I can't. I can't quit this poor little man until his horrible parents are brought to justice.

I am worried that under that blacked out place on the affidavit, we'll see more about gloves. The affidavit so matter-of-factually states that they were like the ones JW used. I feel like they may have been mentioned once before in the affidavit.

These two had a lot of time together to get their story straight. I think we are hearing a cohesive story at the moment but I feel as time passes, one of them will slip and we'll get a better picture. They have also spent a lot of time screwed up on drugs, so her reality HAS to be different from his reality. In the week that Chase was dead before they left, they had to have contacted people, bought drugs, etc. I would be interested to hear what those people have to say.

Upthread somebody points out that it is strange that JW says KB didn't call 911 because she didn't want to lose him, too. I don't get that either. It seems like it would have been something KB said. I wonder if they gave the exact same set of questions to both of them? I don't think they would have asked JW 'why didn't KB call 911". They would have asked "why didn't you call 911". Right? Anyway, if anybody has any theories here, please enlighten me.

Drug addicted mothers sure do take their drug addicted newborns home. My BFF's nephew was born addicted to heroin. She took him home after some time in the hospital. Her sister met her upon her arrival and got her high right away. She had many calls into CPS and she and her husband were arrested on domestic abuse charges one night. A year later the children were FINALLY taken away for good (after a few interventions that always ended up giving the kids back). I understand giving parents a chance to make changes, but in their situation kids could have been harmed as well. There is no saying when something terrible will happen, but it is so very likely to happen in these homes.

There was more but I don't remember it all anymore...

Nothing in this section shall be construed as affecting the applicability of subdivision (a) of Section 187 or Section 189.

Also, in the video of her going in front of the judge there were other inmates there. They heard her charges of murder and they'll put it all together. I am sure that before their arrests they saw the news as well and know exactly who she is.

they find out many ways.

1. another inmate had court at the same time.

2. the media

3. when they are sentenced to prison and hit the yard, they are "jammed up" by whatever inmate calls the shots there. they can lie or refuse to share their papers, but if the "shot caller" is suspicious they will forcefully look at the papers then or later.

4. inmate porters work cleaning the admin building. they overhear ****.
