Sunday, April 16, will be the sixth-month mark of when a local woman went missing. Family, friends and loved ones are anxiously waiting on answers, or any word from the missing woman as they try to find her.
Crystalyn Katherine Mobley

Crystalyn Katherine Mobley, 25.

Mobley was last seen on Oct. 16, 2022. Her older model Buick LaSabre was found abandoned in the Weirsdale Post Office parking lot on Oct. 17. She lived in Summerfield. Mobley's 25th birthday was Dec. 3, 2022.

Family members said they were told Mobley supposedly ran out of gas and stopped at the post office. A notice was placed on the vehicle and it eventually was towed to Mobley's residence.

Mobley's cousin, Aimee Pait-Strickland, said Marion County Sheriff's deputies searched Mobley's vehicle, but found nothing to assist in finding her.

Pait-Strickland said no one has seen or heard from Mobley. She said Mobley has three children: two boys and a girl, all younger than 10.
Crystalyn Katherine Mobley and her children

"This is not like her. There has been no social media activity, no phone calls. No one has seen her. She has not contacted her children. She has dropped off the face of the earth," Pait-Strickland said. "We just need to know where she is and we want her home."

Pait-Strickland said she has searched for her cousin on her days off work. She said she has her cousin's information on her vehicle in case anyone needs to contact her.

Pait-Strickland uses Facebook for clues and information. She said people have reached out to her with tips and information. Despite coming up empty-handed, Pait-Strickland said they keep trying.

Using special equipment and dogs, Pait-Strickland said, Marion County Search & Rescue officials have searched in and around the area where Mobley's car was found. A search was done at nearby communities, as well, but nothing has been found.

"It's disheartening and frustrating. We're doing all we can to put the pieces together," Pait-Strickland said.

Anyone with information about Mobley's whereabouts can call Detective Nicholas Sutliff at (352) 368-3546, Crime Stoppers at (352) 368-STOP (7867), visit www.crimestoppers.com, or contact Pait-Strickland on Facebook.

Crystalyn has been missing for six months, and no one has seen her or communicated with her during this time? IMO that does not bode well, especially if she has three small children.

Missing for six months: Where is Summerfield's Crystalyn Katherine Mobley?

[...]
Family members said they were told Mobley supposedly ran out of gas and stopped at the post office.
[...]

- Who was the last person to actually see her on 16 October?
- Who told the family that she supposedly ran out of gas?
- Do we know anything about her relationship status around the time she went missing?
- Did she mention anything to friends or relatives where she might be going when last seen?
- Was LE able to trace her cell phone, assuming she had one?

Summerfield is only a few miles away from the Weirsdale Post Office, so Crystalyn would likely be familiar with this general area. If she did run out of gas, it seems logical that she would have called someone for assistance.

Since the last sighting was on 16 October (Sunday) then the post office would likely have been closed at the time.

I'm wondering about video camera(s) at the post office. Is there any video of her parking her car there?

It's hard to believe that we're just hearing about this now, 6 months later!
Agreed. Interesting to note that this information is just now being released. Why the six-month delay?

The MSM link contains a photo of Crystalyn's vehicle, so if this vehicle was seen on security video from the Weirsdale Post Office then it should be possible to determine who parked it there (Crystalyn or someone else), and the time when it was parked.

Did the family or LE confirm that the fuel tank in Crystalyn's vehicle was actually empty when it was found?

Marion County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a Summerfield woman

I could only find the above article from back in the fall of 2022 about her being missing. I agree - if she has and no SM activity, no contact with anyone, it does not bode well at all.

Then there is this from Marion County Sheriff's office back in November 2022
Facebook

I hope her family gets the answers they seek. The unknowing is so difficult.

Remains found are believed to be Crystalyn. Positive ID still in process.

Deputies, the Medical Examiner's Office and the University of Florida C.A. Pound Human Identification Lab will try to identify the remains and determine a cause and manner of death. But at this point, based on the location and evidence recovered from the scene, detectives suspect the remains may be the body of Mobley. 25, a mother of three who has been missing since October.

If these remains are confirmed as being Crystalyn then the location (12000 block of East County Road 42 in Weirsdale) is only about a mile west of the Weirsdale post office.

Just to make sure I have this correct, per MSM her car was found abandoned in the parking lot of the Weirsdale post office, which is near the intersection of SE Highway 42 and Ocala Rd. At the time it was found Crystalyn's car was supposedly out of gas, but AFAIK this statement has not been confirmed by MSM or LE.

Per this MSM link, Crystalyn was last seen on October 16 on SE 166th Lane in Summerfield. That location is about two miles west of Weirsdale.

The link above contains this statement:

[...]
Deputies are concerned for her safety due to statements she may have made.
[...]

It's unclear what that means, but it doesn't bode well IMO.

The human remains were found in the 12000 block of East County Road 42, which is roughly halfway between the Weirsdale post office and the 'last seen' location.

Human remains found in Weirsdale. It could be a young mom who's been missing since October

As with so many cases, we seem to be missing important facts regarding Crystalyn's disappearance.

Has anyone found a statement from LE or MSM indicating Crystalyn was in fact the person who left the car at the Weirsdale post office?

We know that her Buick LaSabre was found abandoned in the post office parking lot on 17 October, but I've seen no confirmation indicating Crystalyn was the person who actually parked it there, or when the car arrived there. MSM reports also don't mention who told Crystalyn's family that her car supposedly ran out of gas. I've read nothing indicating whether Crystalyn left any personal items in her car, if there were signs of violence in or around the car, etc.

The MSM link indicates her last sighting was on 16 October in the area of SE 166th Lane in Summerfield, which is about two miles west of Weirsdale, however we have no information about who saw her at that time.

Many possibilities of course, but we'll have to wait for more information before we know the sequence of events in her case.
