I don't think there was a substance inside I agree the children would not have survived
the children would be the best witnesses provided they were awake or awakened

It's possible the couple was at a party.. Maybe drank some and once their inhibitions were lowered gave into the spirit of the new year's eve and thought... Oh we'll just take have smoke do one whatever....left to pick up their children still thinking they were OK... And it may have hit them while driving. Pulled over as someone else said... Became more ill...it would account for the flashers being on so no one would hit the SUV with the kids in it and succumbed to whatever they ingested. There are so many possible scenarios. I hope for the children's sake it wasn't drug related as that will be hard to recon with as they get older. May they rest in Love and Power and may their children recover from this as best they can. Just sad

This is just terrible, those poor kids! :(
I also have a feeling that law enforcement may have more info then what is being put out there right now.
Hopefully more will develop over the next few weeks.
What a shame, my heart breaks for those kids.

I agree and we all need to remember that addiction if that's involved here or in any murder or death... Is first and foremost a disease... Not a moral deficiency. One of the side effects of this disease is the inability to make morally correct decisions.... But no one deserves to die from this disease... It's insidious... It's all consuming... It's like being possessed by a demon you can't always fight and it doesn't care who you are how many children you have how many people love you how much money you make or where you come from ...it wants you dead.... Period. No one chooses to be an addict and until you've fought that disease... That Demon and won... You don't get to make judgements. I thank you for knowing that.

Confused? Did you think someone here was judging them or were you thanking us here for not judging them?

I don't think anyone here would judge them. I think people want to truly know what happened.
Most importantly I think everyone on websleuths are just truly happy the kids are safe.

No thanking everyone for not judging... Often these victims get blamed for their choices... Well if they didn't do this or that.... I'm grateful to everyone that I don't see much of that at all here and it's wonderful that people actually care so much about people who had a very hard time carry for themselves or feeling worthy. So thanks again

....weird thing is that there is reportedly no history of drug abuse by the parents. So maybe they did not purposely take any drugs at all?

Have ya'll seen this thread:

Same State? Did these people all drive through the same area or something where something was going on. ? Sorry, didn't read the whole threads yet.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...-found-dead-of-CO-poisoning-at-I-95-rest-area

What if (it was late) they were tired from driving, and pulled over for a litttle a nap, but did want some heat.

.....previously reported shorter half-time of elimination (t½) of carbon monoxide (CO) in females compared to males

If carbon Monoxide was it - one of em noticed yelled to other one to get out of the car too, the idea being to get some fresh air real quick before getting the kids out and the car off.

(the sneaky silent killer etc)--I thought of carbon monoxide pretty quickly, does anyone know (they took the kids to the ER) if that was what happened how long would elevated levels of CD would remain in the kids.

Maybe a leak was more intense in the front area - it was a SUV, and it did not look new??
There is something "creepy" about this at some angle tho

Body weight etc all plays into how fast one dies. Her being slumped over the car IMO is important but cant figure out how or why????

At some level it seems pretty well, dumb to be doing so serious drugs while driving with your kids in the back.

I tripped in my younger days and there is not way I would want to waste a trip trying to drive - just saying!!

It seems like the car was parked normally, I dont know what heroin feels like , but driving just does not seen like an activity one would want to .

Unless they were needing methadone to stay off heroin - just speculating

Unknown allergy - but two people??

In any COD that is not overtly violent it is so hard to grasp that two people, gender, weight, health history could just pass out.

I dont know have heroin addicts died in multiples before - seems like it would have to be too many variables to come together,

Family friend Leigh Meekins said the couple recently moved and were back in Central Florida to see family and friends.
“It’s heartbreaking, especially for those boys,” Meekins said. “Heather was one of my closest friends. She’s good people. They’re both good people.”
Meekins said she’s disappointed to see some people on social media assume the couple overdosed on drugs.
“It’s not for somebody else to make speculation before they know anything,” she said. “I know (them). If they were into anything, they would never do it around their kids. They were never like that.”

It says the vehicle's hazard lights were flashing when LE found vehicle on highway, and the parent's bodies found deceased outside of the vehicle. My guess would be they stopped because of car trouble, turned vehicle's hazard lights on, which makes sense....and the perp stopped perhaps under the guise of offering assistance. Wonder if any of their items missing: cell phones, wallets, purse, etc.

Hmmmm......I wonder if it was a drug overdose? Or murder/suicide possibly but I wouldn't expect that with the kids being left helpless on the side of a roadway. No sign of foul play and hazard lights on. Very sad and strange.

How did the supposed perp kill them? There were no signs of foul play.

Also, they were reportedly unconscious, not deceased yet when found.

Could they have been 'light' drug users? Only take something once in a while, and keep it secret? Never take large amounts so they still felt confident they could drive and take care of the kids?

And that day they got a bad mix?

The hazard lights would indicate to me that they were both feeling either suddenly or increasingly unwell while driving. Finally had to stop and exit the car - need for fresh air? Need to vomit? Feeling dizzy? Still able to think of switching on the hazard lights, but did not feel bad or scared enough to call 911. The article quoted above by SeesSeas says they were found unconscious and then pronounced dead at the scene. Looks like a steady and possibly speedy decline for both of them. I don't think they injected drugs, I think they ingested something, and it hit them while driving. jmo
My thoughts exactly.

I'm heartbroken for those little boys.

Marking my spot to find out what happened.

I am really sad for this family, but very grateful that the kids are with family and are safe.

I don't believe in the OD theory, I'm guessing that they might have been poisoned but then again it would be important to know for sure where they were that night and the time someone last saw them, if there was someone with them, how long had the car been parked there and where they were going.

Let's just wait for LE to reveal us some more info.

What if there was trauma to the bodies that wasn't immediately obvious? For instance, years ago I saw a story on tv where a husband kicked his wife in the stomach or chest and she died shortly after. I would imagine clothing would cover something like that and if there wasn't any blood evidence, it might be hard to figure out just by looking at the bodies. I'm eager for the autopsy results.

any calls made everyone has at least one cell? I agree with the perp under a guise, possibly this one needing help as there are similar cases in Florida deceased in vehicles mysteriously

The hazards may have been left on by the perp to call attention to the children left in the vehicle
