Deputies say new information reveals she was last seen wearing blue Nike slides, white striped SpongeBob SquarePants shorts. a black t-shirt, and a gold necklace with a heart-shaped charm.

Missing teenager Demiah Appling placed on National Missing and Exploited Children list

Demiah Appling was last seen on October 18th in Old Town. FDLE and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children asks anyone with information to reach out.

OLD TOWN, Fla. (WCJB) - The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is now displaying an online poster for the teenager, who was last seen on October 18th.

Sheriffs deputies and private citizens have been searching the area around Old Town ever since.

The FDLE began assisting at the beginning of this month.

The national post went up on Facebook on Monday night.

Every time some attractive youngish woman goes missing from a party or her paramour's house, there are always people who say "what about human trafficking?" But this case is actually exactly how real human trafficking is done. A very young girl gradually fades away.

The pattern is that she would have met an attractive older male who makes her feel like she's in a relationship. He gets her hooked on hard drugs and starts using that dependence to exploit her part time. It's a gradual process by which how much anybody cares about the girl is felt out and it gets to a point where she's just packed up and shipped out to a different area with nobody at all she knows other than her pimp. We probably wouldn't even know about it if it wasn't for that Jennifer Roberts lady.

Of course there are other possible explanations as well, that we hear about more and I'm really just phrasing the classic trafficking pattern in a personal way to get Sleuths to be more acutely aware of the reality of it. It happens literally all the time. Any one of us could drive to the right neighborhood and have a conversation with a victim of some version or other of it.

This is so very true, and sad. I’ve noticed in the ladies restrooms of my doctors offices, there are more posters on the stall doors. It wasn’t the typical domestic violence poster either. It was a human trafficking poster.

Today I’m at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, and they’re all over the place. When I went to my doctor in Sarasota to get my flu shot, they were on the wall in the waiting room.

The Tampa area is known for a lot of human trafficking, particularly during football season. I’m very glad to see more awareness being brought to the public. Some young girls don’t truly understand they’re a victim, until they’re in so deep and trapped.

I don't understand why it seems no one cares. Demiah is far too young to be gone this long without assistance. Someone knows where she is. Surely someone in her circle cares? Ugh. She deserves so much more in life.

Based on forensic evidence, Investigators with the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office have developed persons of Interest in the disappearance of Demiah Appling.

The last confirmed sighting of Demiah was on October 16, 2022, at approximately 9:30 PM in the neighborhood of Suwannee Gardens.
Investigators believe that Demiah left the area in a vehicle around that time.

The area surrounding Suwannee Gardens and the neighborhood locally known as the Old Town Hammock has been identified by Investigators as areas of interest.

The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office would like for anyone who may have information regarding Demiah’s last whereabouts on the evening of October 16, 2022, to come forward. Please call our Hotline at (877) 464-6982.

In addition, the Sheriff’s Office requests that anyone who resides in the areas of interest check their surveillance and game cameras for the evening of October 16, 2022.

I don't have Tik Tok but in the screen grabs she has the saddest eyes. She seems like she was searching for happiness or something to make her whole. It's scary seeing where police were last focusing their search. I hope they're able to find her and bring her home. The family hasn't posted in a few days. I hope this young lady has a chance to achieve het dreams.
