I have a feeling people panicked. I probably would. If I heard there was a shooting and then heard another sound, I'd be grabbing my family and running like hell.

The Fort Lauderdale Airport does not have it's own police force and relies on BSO for law enforcement.

There are three Canadian planes on the tarmac: An Air Transat flight, a WestJet flight, and an Air Canada Rouge flight. It’s not yet known if any Canadians were injured.

News helicopters hovering over the scene showed hundreds of people standing on the tarmac early Friday afternoon as an ambulance drove by and numerous law enforcement officers rushed to the scene.

a witness to the shootings said a man, wearing a Star Wars T-shirt, walked into the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 and opened fire with a single handgun. The man said nothing as we he went through three magazines before giving up and sprawling spread-eagle on the flood as a police officer took him into custody. “He had no intention of escaping.”

Depends if they're doing it "for a reason". No matter how mindless their reason may be to the rest of us, by remaining alive they get to "share their message" thus bringing it to the "attention of the world". Because, let's face it, I don't know about you but the burning question for me right now (& will be for LE too) is "Why?"

The witness, John, who was talking to Shep on FNN said he saw the man shoot the victims and he shot them all in the head. So those who are wounded are probably gravely wounded.

Santiago - reportedly 26 years old and from New Jersey but lived in Alaska for some time -appeared alone in the Terminal 2 baggage claim area wearing a Star Wars shirt.

Witnesses say he appeared to randomly target his victims.

“He had what looked like a 9mm and emptied his entire clip."

Was he living in Alaska now? If so why come thousands of miles to hit this particular terminal. Is there a military base close by the airport?
