For example, juror 5 says he's a nurse, is single, no crimes and hasn't been a victim of a crime.
Juror 7 is a pastor with a stay at home wife. He has three children and just moved to Tallahassee this year. He does have close friends in law enforcement, and his father faced a serious charge that was dismissed.
Nugget! Judge Everett says the "firm" dates for the trial are Friday through September 5.
D: I thought we discussed going through September 9?
J: We'll get there when we get there. Let's stick to the firm dates right now. This came up when a juror was asking for dates.
Juror 11 draws some laughs when he says his adult children do "YouTube videos."
J: (Smiling) you seem distressed about that?
Juror: Actually they make more money than me!(laughter throughout the courtroom)
11: My brother also stole my ID, I was falsely arrested
Juror 16 works for the state doing some kind of analysis of "non fatal drug overdoses."
J: Sounds complicated! Any arrests?
16: Driving without headlights
J: (Smiling) I appreciate your honesty!
Juror 16 also says they were stabbed in '22.
These questions change up so quick.
Seriously, though. Things whip from topic to topic so fast during this process.Sometimes they're talking about biographics, then opinions, and then back to light hearted.
Juror 4 and Juror 10 were excused. I believe Juror 10 was the teacher who no sub, but it's difficult for us to hear. This means Jurors 22 and 23 have been called forward from the gallery to the jury box and could now be selected.
Juror 22 says she did serve on a jury before, but she was not the foreperson.
Juror 23 says he has a child at FSU and one that works in fast food. Neither one knows Donna Adelson or any of the lawyers.
"Proof beyond reasonable doubt is not beyond all doubt," Judge Everett instructs the potential jurors. If they "waver and vacillate" then the "doubt is reasonable."
J: The defendant does not have to prove their innocence. There can be no inference of guilt.
P: Congratulations! I think it's a compliment (to get to this point). It is my burden to prove guilt. This is an important case. Some of you might be shy."Shy guys, please participate as your voice is just as important," Georgia Cappleman says.
P: Who manages people?
8: I'm a GIS project manager, most of the people under me are students
9: I manage about 10 people
23: I supervise two technicians
11: 20 years in the military
13: 8 years in the military and I'm lead pastor
P: Do you consider yourself a leader even though you don't manage people?
*No hands are raised*
P: Are you a shy guy?
6: Yes
P: Would you stick to your guns?
Would anyone struggle with that?
21: It is a little intimidating to be here
P: Would you speak up if you have a difference of opinion?
21: I would struggle
P: They'd have to ask your opinion?
21 and 3: Yes
P: The foreman would have to draw it out, but you would give your opinion?
3: Yes, if I'm asked
P: For your planning purposes, I think this trial will be closer to two weeks than three.Anyone have any legal training?
A: No
P: The burden is mine, which means I prove the case with evidence. If you were asked to render a verdict right now:
Not guilty
P: It is not impossible to convict someone. You will not have 100% mathematical certainty. Do you have a reasonable doubt your car is where you left it? No.
Jurors 21 and 3 were excused. It's a bit unclear to me if the prosecution is using its strikes or if something else is happening.More on the strikes, which means they can excuse potential jurors without reason:

Juror 26 is married, with two young kids. Her spouse works in sales. Her child's father is charged with "felony drug related stuff."
The above may actually be juror 25, it's getting difficult to keep track.
P: You all will be the judge of the facts, not of the person. People may feel its too heavy. Does anyone feel they couldn't make a decision?
*no hands raised*
P: You'll be asked if the crimes were committed, and if the defendant committed them.
