FL - Hospitalized Boy Claims Ongoing Abuse

This reminds me of the baby lollipops case. The mother got the death penalty and her partner got 40 years. Thier motive was because they hated males. I am not saying that this was positively the motive but it sounds similar.

Maybe so, but our culture is obsessed with gender and parents often do treat children of different genders differently in various ways (abusive or not).

When I speculated above that these women may be avenging themselves against the entire male sex, I in no way meant to suggest that such a motive could excuse their behavior, regardless of how badly they may have been treated in the past.

Yeah, gender can be an issue in the same way as any molester or rapist uses it as an excuse to avenge him or herself on their victims for real or imagined wrongs from the past, but in my opinion these two just used that child as a convenient punching bag & they should be punished accordingly.

I agree about the punishment, regardless of their motives. To me, motive is of interest only as a matter of discussion.

I'm no rigid devotee of Freud, but I do think there's merit to his basic premise that we are deeply influenced, consciously or not, by our responses to gender. (Of course, he was an absolute nut about it! :D)

This is incredibly sad...

When one reads a book like "A Child Called It", one's instinct is to think that situation was unique. Sadly, as with this young boy, it is happening more than we could possibly imagine.
One article said that the day-care called home because the child was stealing food...imagine what wrath that must have incurred...
As a school counselor, I have had occasions where a student has begged us not to call parents over one thing or another.... It always gives me pause....

I do think some women are becoming men haters to an extreme degree. However I cannot fathom that bleeding over to innocent children they are supposed to protect.

I have seen so many cases lately of these same kind of abusive women who are doing and allowing horrific things to be done to their own daughters. So imo it is more about the women not the gender they harm. I think any child, male or female, would have been treated the same by these women.

I truly think any mother or woman that neglects, tortures, abuses, sells children to pedophiles or murders them are just the epitome of evil.

Millions of woman and men are abused in the country yearly unfortunately but thank goodness the majority of society and those who have been abused in their past do not pass that pain onto innocent children.

These women deserve no mercy just like they gave this little boy who had a right to be loved and protected.

I hope now he will have a better chance at life to be with someone who truly cares about him. He sure didn't find it with these two incorrigible monsters.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 7-year-old boy who was discovered three years ago wandering at a Central Florida resort while weighing only 37 pounds has been adopted, according the Department of Children and Families.

Nearly three years later, the healthy, energetic 10-year-old officially left foster care and became a member of a "forever family" through adoption, the DCF said.

"Some may think his life has forever changed, but the truth is, he has changed ours," said Raeann Bacchus, who supervised the DCF investigation in 2007.

Bacchus, who sat at the child's bedside during his initial recovery, attended the adoption ceremony along with the original presiding judge.

"It's a fairy-tale ending and we don't always get that," Bacchus said.

What a horror show! I'd never heard of this case...I wonder what the grand theft charges are about? So awesome that he's been adopted into a loving home.

The grand theft was for $10,000 worth of bad checks written from one to the other and cashed.

I'm speculating, of course, but I suspect these women have a pathological hatred of men and took it out on the little boy. You are right that they are not of sound mind.

(If anyone is wondering, no, such hatred is not typical of lesbian partners.)

Finally! A story with a happy ending! I wish him and his new family all the best!
