I’ve been watching since it started.
So very sad knowing all the details now.
I feel so very heartbroken for her little sister.
You could tell her heart is heavy.
May justice be swift and severe.

A new 2023 ruling now allows a death sentence with only an 8 to 4 vote by the jury instead of the 12 to 0 previously needed.

This morning begins day 4 of the Duval death penalty trial over the murder of 16y/o Iyana Sawyer, who prosecutors say was murdered by her uncle, Johnathan Quiles, after he got her pregnant. What was Quiles doing when she disappeared in 2018? Update on #GMJ

Watched a bit of the Law&Crime live feed a few minutes ago and the victim's sister "SS" testified. It was heartbreaking. She said she had kept her promise to her sister about sexual abuse until she realized that her sister wasn't going to come home. :(

I adore this Judge. But why is he so worried with the scheduling? I haven’t heard it so much as I have in this case.
Jmo. I haven’t watched every minute. Anyone have insight to why?
Eta just heard him say he has other trials.
I got it. Lol.

IS's sister testified today that he raped her as well. I think he might get the DP.

It sounds like this guy was abusing every young girl in his family. They seemed to each think they were the only one.

When the "unties" (we say that here in VA too) were circling the wagons about how he was a predator, did anyone think to call authorities? I did not get to listen closely, but I have not heard that mentioned.
