ORLANDO, Fla. --
After searching for hours, police said they did not find remains near where Jennifer Kesse was last seen. A tip led them back to the area.

Officials said they did not find any evidence related to the case.

The search was under way early Friday morning in a vacant field near where Jennifer Kesse disappeared more than four years ago.

Orlando police and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement searched the location along South Orange Blossom Trail near Oakridge Road.

The area is near the Mall at Milennia. Kesse lived at an apartment complex in the area.

Investigators said it's a partially wooded area.

Jennifer Kesse disappeared from Orlando in January 2006.

Kesse was 24 years old when she did not report to work one day in Jan. 2006 and it is believed she was abducted.

A tip brought investigators to the area and it is possible cadaver dogs gave them reason to intensify the search.

At http://www.wftv.com/video/22610456/index.html, at 4:01 in the video, it shows 2 pools of water near the red C-shaped building where they were searching.

However, those pools of water are not there on the google map of the area and seem just to show fields in their place:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...471,-81.398799&spn=0.003508,0.005466&t=h&z=18

What are those pools of water?

I do not see any water. Just grassy fields. They may serve as retention ponds after hard rains.

This is the second nearby field to her condo where tipsters have called and said she was buried.

Quite frankly, the person obvioulsy didn't dig a grave that morning and if they 1) had a car, and 2) returned to where Jennifer's remais were to bury her out of view, they sure wouldn't so it off nearby busy roads.

The part that gets me is that in both "searching nearby fields based on tips" stories, the article stated that multiple dogs hit on spots that were dug up and found nothing. In fact this latest field thing is virtually a replay of the first field thing.

rd

Oh how frustrating and how heartbreaking for Kesse family

if this "tipster" is known, and they find them believable, and it is their "family member"...why can't they find said "family member"???

I really hope for closure in this case

While disappointed that Jennifer was not found during the search Friday....I am encouraged that the tip was credible enough to gather LE and heavy equipment. The tip may have been close and not exact but it ruled out a possibility.....Perhaps after all this time.....the truth is closer to being revealed. I keep the Kesse's in my thoughts and remain hopeful that they will have answers.

The previous nearby field tip also was dug up with heavy equipment, etc. same as this one.

More importantly, there is a person who tipped LE (probably anonymously) that they suspect a family member of Jennifer's disappearance and suspected she was buried in the field.

Personally, I don't think LE should have to act on stuff like this unless the suspect was named in the tip, the reasons for the suspicion explained, and the reasons for where they think their relative hid Jennifer were explained. Not saying the tipster didn't do that, I don't know, but if so then LE while not finding Jennifer in that field has good reason to think Jennifer was hidden somewhere by this guy, etc.

Otherwise the person should be cleared in LE's investigation or action not taken. There are some disturbed people out there, starting with someone who abducted Jennifer.

There are several things that bother me greatly about this "credible" tip. The first has been stated already - if this perwson is a family member of the person who abducted Jennifer why has there been no pursuit of the tipster's involved relative, 2. this type of tip was reported previously, so I have to wonder if there isn't some truth to it. IMHO, this would not be the first time that LE anywhere would have acted on a tip and found nothing, but in actuality there was a body bured there. Someone who buried Jennifer quickly would not have dug a very deep grave, and animal activity could have carried her remains away from that field. I am wondering if that could account for the dogs seeming to hit on certain areas of the field. Just somde thoughts - I get a nagging feeling that this repeated tip of being buried in a field is based on some truth. For the sake of justice for Jennifer, and for the sake of her parents living in a he%% not knowing, I hope further information is uncovered that leads to Jennifer being found.

what kind of animal carries away a person's body? In addition, shallow grave or not, that's a pit that's large enough to hold a body, and shallow or not, that's some significant effort to dig. I emphasize significant, as in try it some time.

This is a self reinforcing meme, as in the more people that call in and say they thik Jennifer is buried in a nearby field (posted a zillion times), the more sure everyone is there must be something to it.

How about the person that supposedly did it, and why they think that, and why they think that person has an association with that field. This is psych stuff without the psych.

Chandra Levy was left in a shallow depression on a hillside beneath a tree. A year later a portion of her skeleton was still in the depression covered with leaves, and the rest of her skeleton was scattered over dozens of yards of the hillside. That's what happens to a body that animals get to.

Just speculating/thinking…

As far as the field, is it possible Jennifer could have been buried there at one time and then moved later? As far as the credible tip from a family member, perhaps the suspected relative is now incarcerated and someone felt safer to report in a tip about something they heard in the past? I'm thinking about the possible fear factor of any relatives.

Of course I’m wondering again about Juan Hernandez-Monzalvo and Richard Morales-Marin (now ~23/24 years old). May not be connected but I revisited the info…

 • 2 construction workers from Mexico
 • At least 1 used a fake ID (maybe more than 1 for all we know), at least 1 had been deported to Mexico and got back into the U.S.
 • Hernandez-Monzalvo and Morales-Marin lived in this area and knew it well
 • I can’t say for sure, but if Juan Monzalvo Hernandez is the same person as Juan Hernandez Monzalvo, his criminal traffic cases start in Bradenton, FL in 2002 and then the first one in Orange County for domestic abuse is in Aug 2005, and others in OC occur in 06, 07, and 09 (in Jun 2008, he was turned over to immigration authorities who by then suspected he was in the U.S. illegally)
 • In 2007, Morales-Marin was charged with battery (he whipped his wife with a belt and punched her in the face because she confronted him about an affair). Charges for battery were dropped but he was ordered into counseling for batterers and substance abusers – orders he ignored. Since March 2008, there had been a court order out for his arrest, but he managed to “avoid contact” with law enforcement
 • Multiple court cases filed previously involving both that seem to have been dropped/abandoned/skirted – they kept getting away with stuff and obviously had no regard for the law
 • Both arrested in Feb 2009 for raping the 11/12 year old girl (and Morales-Marin was then linked by DNA to a previous rape of a 19 year old pregnant woman in Jan 2008 near the Florida Mall)
 • It appears from the arrest affidavit that they lived with 3 other Mexican men at Citadel Dr, and at least 1 lived with them previously on Rose Blvd. Those men should also be thoroughly checked out as far as where they were/lived in 2005/2006, and where they worked (e.g. construction, painters, maintenance, landscapers, any connections to Mosaic developers, KW Property, subcontractors, etc.). I wouldn’t rely on Property Management records only as those can be changed/inaccurate
 • It’s obvious neither Hernandez-Monzalvo nor Morales-Marin had a conscience. They laughed and joked with detectives after being arrested, each blamed the other for what happened, and they also tried to blame the 11/12 year old victim. Hernandez-Monzalvo even tried to get deported again to avoid the trial. Hernandez-Monzalvo addressed the 12-year-old victim in a letter read by his interpreter: “I'm begging God for you to tell the truth,” Monzalvo’s interpreter read.
 • In Jan 2010, both were found guilty and sentenced to consecutive life sentences for the rape of the young girl
 • There were statements read to the judge by Hernandez-Monzalvo’s wife and sister, and it appears they asked the judge for leniency
 • In the court records, it shows that on Jan 7, 2010 there was an “Order For Blood Specimen Testing for DNA Analysis” for both Hernandez-Monzalvo and Morales-Marin (note they had both previously given DNA so not sure why this additional specimen was ordered?) (Note that Detective Wright advised in 2009 on HLN that they didn’t have enough DNA from car for a profile.)

Good video about Juan Hernandez-Monzalvo after arrested for rape in Feb 09. Talks about when he was arrested at S Orange Blossom Trail and W Oak Ridge Rd in Aug 2007 (see citation at 1:09 in video; shows spelling of last name as Montalvo, another address on N Orange Blossom Trail, height listed as 5’6”, vehicle description, etc.)

B - McDonalds - this intersection of S Orange Blossom Trail and W Oak Ridge Rd (right past Popeyes and the field) is where Juan Hernandez-Monzalvo was arrested in Aug 2007 for driving without a license (on citation his height is listed as 5’6” and on rape arrest charge record it’s listed as 5’8” – true height is questionable). When he was stopped, there was already a warrant for his arrest from another charge of driving without valid ID, but he wasn’t arrested because he gave a different spelling of his name, and kept driving without a license before being arrested yet again.

C - Rose Blvd, where they raped 11-year-old girl. Juan used to live here with Richard Morales-Marin and several other men - not sure of the year(s)

Don't you think that digging a hole four years ago for a body, then digging up the body sometime later and moving it leaves a recognizable disturbance in the ground where the dogs hit?

I didn't get the impression that Orlando police have any suspect on their radar from either of these field tips where they dug up the ground based on tips. Do you?

First question: good point

Section question: I don't know if the police have anyone on their radar, but it's possible.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A six-hour search in a vacant Orlando filed ended Friday afternoon in the case involving Jennifer Kesse, who has been missing since 2006.

Investigators with the Orlando Police Department and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement scoured an area west of Orange Blossom Trail between West Oak Ridge Road and Wakulla Way after receiving a tip.

Sources told Local 6 that a tipster claiming to be a family member of the person who may have abducted Kesse said Kesse's body is possibly buried in the field.
Three K-9s alerted on an area, prompting a larger dig using heavy equipment.

"It's an area we're considering a crime area," Orlando police Sgt. Barb Jones said earlier in the day. "They're back there with equipment -- I guess it's a font-loader -- and they're going through methodically."

The vacant field is located about a mile from Kesse's condo, Mosaic at Millenia, where she was last seen.

Not trying to be critical, but just wondering if this was enough of a search to cover the entire field/woods and whether there could be other items left/buried there (according to my notes some of Jennifer's missing items include briefcase, purse, wallet, ID, ATM, iPod, 2 cell phones, keys). Are searchers given a list of items and pictures/sample pics of what to search for, including items listed and clothing, shoes, etc.? You know how sometimes areas are searched but things are missed...

 • 5-6 hour search - searched/dug in 2 separate parts of the field
 • Police have searched this field in the past
 • 60 people shoulder to shoulder grid search
 • Ground penetrating radar
 • Cadaver dogs
