BBM - That's what I believe as well. Someone she knew well, someone who knew about the two phones--and maybe someone who knew she like Chinese takeout and just happened to be in the neighborhood and dropped in with some piping hot? Even if it was a little late.

Did the Chinese food place deliver? How often did she eat Chinese takeout? It's hard to imagine eating Chinese food at 10 pm at night, but that's just me. My significant other eats late at night most of the time. Drives me nuts (or nuttier). Has done it for years whereas I choose not to eat past 7 pm (known to veer from that pattern though mostly for takeout pizza).

Being busy maybe she had skipped a couple of meals and someone dropping off Chinese takeout would be welcomed even if at 10 pm.

I agree with you RD , other than them using Bloodhounds and digging up different sites as they have done over the years, the video is the only thing left.....If it is true that OPD did not process her apartment just look at the clues it may have held, ie, possible dna in the shower, on the towel, on the carpet.....Once opportunities like her apartment was missed there is no going back...It is entirely possible that her apartment held no clues but what if it did....What if there had been a complete fingerprint in there that matched the partial fingerprint left in or on her car....

Jennifer could have been any of our daughters, how would we feel about the two inept, negligent detectives if they were on our daughters case?

I have to say RD the picture that you worked on of the POI turning and looking back at Jennifer's car in the video was the best picture of the POI that I have ever seen....I changed the colors on it and some of the colors bring him into focus better....

I can't help but believe that there are more shots of the POI that OPD did not release as they did not want to release any of it.....What possible clues could the blurry video hold that they did release?

Thanks marable. It always makes my heart feel good to see someone making use of this work.

I was never able to see where make and setting of the surveillance camera looking at the pool gate was posted. Apparently a state secret or something. I did a lot of research back in the day when I was working on these pictures. My best guess from research is that these are 3 second continuous motion pictures. This condenses the storage down greatly and is cheaper than snapshot stills. On top of that the camera records UV for night but is a cheaper model that doesn't have a timer or light sensor to flip a UV filter in place or the flip switch is broke. In any event the images are recorded with UV during day. I posted side by sides a few pages back showing how that lightens dark clothes.

This is literally what they have, and the first two images are blurred with motion as it is. The focus and image distortion around the focus area make visual estimates of size and distance based on what you see very difficult.

I limited my image work to enlargement, brightness/darkness and contrast adjustments, and gamma correction to be as pure as possible. I think there are other areas such as you're doing that can help identification in other ways. I leave that to others and hope the work leads to clues to investigate.

The FBI was called in to help determine the person's size and gender, but could only say the person was someone who was about 5'3" to 5'5". NASA also assisted in the investigation by enhancing the video to help in identifying the suspect. I think the height is what led some to believe the POI may be a female.

Based on what I read in the news at the time, the FBI was only asked to confirm the methodology used to determine the height. I saw a news picture of the Orlando police performing the measurement. We're only talking angle and distance here. If you give the FBI an angle and distance, their calculation will work like anyone else's.

The news photo captured the female spokeswoman, who I'm going to guess isn't much over 5'4, as a hunchback taking a goose step. They froze her in that position, the location distance from the fence in the drive lane a judgement call, and ran a rope out to her from the camera location.

What answer do you think they got? hmmm, 5'3 to 5'5, possibly a female, especially with that "bun of hair" on her head. They went around to local hair stylists to ask about that "hair bun" style.

If you preconfigure an answer, you will get that answer.

Maybe we can do what they failed to. I know many people have tried to ID the POI - my friend who is an artist insists it's a male. I had thought female, but then looking at their shoes, well, they're pretty big for a woman 5'4" tall (that's my height, and I'm a size 8; some could be a size 7, and maybe a few a 9, but generally not much larger than that). I have always wondered if the POI wasn't an employee of an ex of Jennifer's, or an employee of one of her friends or brothers, etc. Thoughts? Let's solve this case! (I know, we stand a better chance of winning the lottery while being struck by a meteorite while jumping rope in a grocery store at the same time, but ya never know!)

Without distracting from your thought process, I noted in another post the lens distortion of the camera. I do not believe the shoes are actually that large in comparsion to the rest of the person. Some combination of movement and lens distortion on outer edge of focus area causes that enlargement in my opinion. There are lots of other artifacts that are out of proportion as well.

Other than that, the shoes are normal bike riding shoes as one would expect with rest of uniform. I have an example posted below the shoes. On my screen I can see the individual bubbles for that kind of shoe and basic pattern.

He knew he would be caught on camera thus the disguise, I believe, as the bicycle cop. I think it was the perp and not someone paid to park Jennifer's car.

Reading from Miss Kesse's website:

http://jenniferkesse.com/

It does not say when the telephone call ended, just that the call was made to her boyfriend at 9:57 pm. Did the call end abruptly? Was it just 2 or 3 minutes? There are links to Greta and 48 Hours case coverage at the website, so I will rewatch. The length of the call was something I noticed missing.

I agree Jennifer's case needs to be solved. It's been too long. Her family deserves some answers.

They are really unclear on that, and other comments in reports suggest she was off the phone by 10 pm. Comments in posts here have mentioned a short call, a disagreement if you will in that call, but I don't know what it's based on. For some reason it's been real murky about actual time placed and duration of call. Call places at 9:57 doesn't help. That's hard to believe.

There was some discussion that the POI was actually taller than 5'3"-5'4"....It looks like the fence is not level with the road that he is walking on.....If this is true wouldn't it make him appear shorter than what he actually is....I don't know if they accounted for that or not....I have always believed 5'6"-5'9" or so...

Also , Hec, could you ask your artist friend to look at the photo of the POI turning back toward Jennifer's car in the group of photos he mentioned earlier.....I think it might be possible to make a sketch of him in that photo....

I am a retired nurse, worked as an RN for 41 years and I can tell you from my experience that there are very few people who have feet that large for that height....Of course it is possible but I really don't think that it is likely.....Did the POI wear shoes too large for him as a disguise to throw people off like we have been?

You nailed that marable. They never even made notes regarding the 'investigation.'

With regards to the original , inept, negligent detectives on Jennifer's case...these detectives should have been punished , taken to court or whatever instead of just letting them retire and go their merry way.......As a retired nurse I know in medicine there are "standards of care" that doctors practice by.....Law enforcement should have "standards of investigational policies" that they go by......If a nurse is negligent and careless with their patients they can be taken to court and lose their license....Detectives should have to meet standards or face punishment....

RD, I have read that OPD will not release the phone records pertaining to her land line...I believe Blink mentions the land line.....Did she receive another call or make another call that night on her land line?

From that photo of the POI looking back to me his face looks slender, large nose and a mustache and or goatee.....It really spooked me to see that face, even as blurred as it is....I wonder if NASA noticed this face when they were enhancing the video?

"Her ex-boyfriend, who had recently been upset and wanted to get back together with her, was also interrogated. Investigators ultimately concluded that he had nothing to do with her abduction." I wonder how they ruled him out? Alibi? It didn't say he had one.

Hec, on the Disappeared show a few months ago one of the current detectives said that no one had been ruled out as a suspect....I know there were things said on this program that were not true and perhaps this statement is as well....

I'm just going to throw this out there: Do you guys believe the POI was involved in Security/Law Enforcement? If so, is I wonder if the police had some idea of who this officer was, and intentionally mishandled the investigation to protect this person. I mean, I used to be a PO, and the way they handled this case was like a bunch of Kindergartners... Thoughts? Has this theory been proposed before?

  • #1,232
I just took a survey of several friends, and they all believe that the POI is male, and wearing some kind of hat or helmet. What's our consensus on this?

  • #1,233
I have always thought there must be DNA in the car from the POI. Just one strand of hair.
We are shedding hair all the time.
Does anyone know more about this topic?

I repeat this too. It would be nice if any of Jennifer's acquaintances or an investigative reporter who has researched this mystery posted their thoughts on this forum.
To my knowledge none of them has posted an opinion anywhere.
Kind of like a cone of silence.

Not a likely scenario as I would think Internal Affairs would be all over this. But then, I've never ruled it out either.

I have always thought that OPD or at least the two original detectives did such a lousy job of investigating what they had in the beginning that this case never had a chance of being solved..

I cannot comprehend the excuse that there were too many people in her condo to conduct an investigation. I believed that was an excuse for dropping the ball on this case. LE could have processed the condo and collected DNA and fingerprints from the family, the boy friend and her brother's party friends. I believe they may have not checked for a history on the alarm system.

I'm inclined to believe it is male, if for no other reason other than most abductors of women are male. I would think a re-analysis of that security footage again to verify the height would be in order.

I have never thought that but it is said police officers take care of their own....

They definitely mishandled this case from day one....What I cannot understand is why they did not process her apartment as that was the last known location for Jennifer.....One of the detectives said the apartment had been contaminated by friends and family, it would have taken more work for them to do buccal swabs and fingerprints but it could have been done.....Surely they had enough sense to know that with each passing day that more and more evidence was being lost....

I have thought from time to time that the POI could have been a female wearing huge shoes to make it appear that she was a male.....I think it is a male...

There was a latent print found in or on the car and a miniscule amount of dna that wasn't enough to test at the time.....Lt. Kenda says that there is ALWAYS something left by the perpetrator at a crime scene...

I don't like to go to bed with a full stomach either....If I were to eat Chinese before bedtime I would be awake all night drinking water....

Drew says that there was a Chinese container in her fridge....could it have been from that night or before she went on vacation? Could that box have been left from Chinese food brought by a friend Monday night?
