Do you realize you have just justified every single murder that ever has been committed?

"Oh, the murderer must have had a good reason to. Something made him feel like using deadly force."

Everybody who kills someone did it because something triggered the action. It doesn't mean that it was justified, legal or the right and reasonable thing to do.

So far, the evidence seems to indicate that Mr Dunn was a threat to someone's life. I've seen nothing yet that says Jordan Davis was.
How so? The Jones Family of Screven GA. were murdered in their house, they didn't harm the men that killed them. There was a reason, the killers thought the house was empty, it wasn’t justified. There is a reason this shooter opened fire, WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH INFORMATION AT THE PRESENT TIME TO KNOW THAT REASON WAS. I think I’ve said that more the five or six times in this thread. It sure as heck wasn’t loud music! I think I’ve said that five or six times in this thread. <mod snip>

Not all but the three teens left clearly have a reason to lie. Most people mature with age, <mod snip>

If you've just shot and killed someone and fled the scene people might also think you have reason to lie.

Some people could think that.

You say we don't know what the reason was yet you seem awfully certain that it was all the teenagers' fault, they lied about what happened and the shooter was defending himself in fear for his life because he was threatened.

I don't know that is what happened this but it makes the most common sense. Asking someone with any common sense to believe a single 45yo male became enraged over loud music only and opened fire on 4 teenaged males for loud music or attempted to bully 4 teenage males don't cut it for common sense!

There are plenty of 45 year men who have gotten out of control for one reason or another. It is possible that they had some words about the loud music and he got enraged over something that was said. If there is narcissistic rage involved it doesn't really matter if the initial cause of the confrontation is something minor and trivial, like loud music, it may become a huge thing anyway simply because the person feels disrespected or their pride takes a dent.

Yes there have been 45yos get out of control!

Yet you can't accept the more likely scenario that one of the teens became enraged by being asked to tone down his obnoxious behavior then threatened death to someone because he thought his comrades had his back.

It is possible it happened like that.

However, it would seem like a more likely scenario to me if a) the teens had had a weapon to threaten Dunn with, and b) Dunn had called the police and reported these out of control teenagers who threatened his life instead of fleeing the town like any criminal who knows he's guilty and LE having to find him.

If it's true that he waited at the parking lot for his girlfriend to get out of the store common sense tells me he was not afraid for his life at all. Any of the teens that he left breathing could have grabbed the shotgun and shot him.

If you were in a parking lot and were asked to turn it down, what would you do?

Depends on how I was asked? If I was asked nicely, I would most certainly turn down the volume. If I was asked by management or an attendant at the gas station, I most certainly would turn it down.

On the other hand, if an "45-year-old white folk" pulled up next to my car and was nasty about asking me to turn my music down, I would tell him to roll up his windows or go <modslip> himself. IF management/attendant of the gas station had no problem with the volume of my music, then this random mad had no right to talk to me at all. Especially in a disrespectful manner. You talk disrespectful you deserve to get disrespected back.

You seem to be under the assumption that Mr. Dunn spoke nicely to these kids because of his personality (that we know nothing about), his age (pu-leese!!), his social status (pu-leese) and his race (again, pu-leese!). None of that has anything to do with the actions Mr. Dunn displayed that night.

I have seen enough of the world to know that a lot of what you post is something of the world you grew up in. And that's okay. I grew up in a totally different world and I am thankful for that.

An old man is going to pick on four teenagers!

An old man, in another case, did pick on a group of teenagers for skateboarding and when an adult stood up for the teenagers, the adult man was shot and killed. Carrying a gun usually makes people feel a little bit better about confronting any group of people.

I think it was loud enough the shooter most likely had to scream just to be noticed. So asking someone very politely to turn it down was not likely not an option!

I think that is exactly why there was lead flying that night! I think someone overloaded his <mod snip> and didn't actullay have what he represented as the means to carry out his stated intentions!

No, I think he had to yell at them to turn it down, so he would be heard!

Anybody have any idea when we can expect a document dump?

Tired of circutuous nature of this debate. Wondering when we will have further facts to add to all this speculation.

TIA

<mod snip> I said I've been downtown Jacksonville/bad areas of 50 times. I didn’t lie to my parents/elders I had respect for them, if they asked I told them the truth. I had a brother that lied and I also seen the out come of that, I wanted no part of it. His punishment didn’t help him one bit but it dang sure helped me.

You still haven't told me why you went into the bad sections 50 times and why you were shot at. :waitasec:

Asking anyone with any common sense to believe that somebody would kill their spouse of 30 years or more, kill their child to get back at her mother, kill somebody just because they wanted to watch someone die, kill someone over a card game, kill someone because they broke up with them and a myriad of other reasons doesn't cut the common sense test.

We know those things happen all the time. People kill from all stations of life. If you've ever watched Dominik Dunne's "Power and Privilege" you'll see a lot of cases of the rich and famous committing murders. If you watch Dateline or 48 hours you'll see middle class people killing each other. It happens. Just because the guy owns an airplane doesn't stop him from committing murder.

What makes you think this? And how does this make a difference in the outcome here?
I understand that you think that there was something that happened to make this man feel threatened, but what do you really think happened here?
I think someone had too much to drink and overreacted. I truly don't believe he pulled up to a convenience store and decided he had had enough of "young punks" and decided to unload on them. It was a situation where someone overreacted to an imagined threat and he should answer to that.

The fact that he left and didn't call LE, then had to be arrested much later, supposedly getting ready to turn himself in, shows he knew he was in the wrong. Alcohol and guns are a deadly combination. That is my take on what happened. Sucks for all involved.:seeya:

I agree. Totally different worlds. In my world people don't blast music in public--period. It's loud, disruptive, annoying, unproductive and, most importantly, completely unnecessary. I am completely thankful for the respectful world I grew up in and mourn its loss.
