Depends on how I was asked? If I was asked nicely, I would most certainly turn down the volume. If I was asked by management or an attendant at the gas station, I most certainly would turn it down.
On the other hand, if an "45-year-old white folk" pulled up next to my car and was nasty about asking me to turn my music down, I would tell him to roll up his windows or go <modslip> himself. IF management/attendant of the gas station had no problem with the volume of my music, then this random mad had no right to talk to me at all. Especially in a disrespectful manner. You talk disrespectful you deserve to get disrespected back.
You seem to be under the assumption that Mr. Dunn spoke nicely to these kids because of his personality (that we know nothing about), his age (pu-leese!!), his social status (pu-leese) and his race (again, pu-leese!). None of that has anything to do with the actions Mr. Dunn displayed that night.
I have seen enough of the world to know that a lot of what you post is something of the world you grew up in. And that's okay. I grew up in a totally different world and I am thankful for that.
