As relieved as I am that our precious boy was found, I have no sympathy at all for either of the charged ones. TheY are scum and I pray they are not allowed to walk free.

Circuit Judge Mark Borello, a former prosecutor, would not sign the agreement until two key pieces of information are available: one, that the remains found Monday are confirmed to be Lonzie Barton; and two, that the manner of death is something other than a vicious homicide.

So does that mean Ruben is trying to claim it was an 'accident' and the judge wants to make sure his story is true?
Ugh.. Crossing my fingers that Lonzie's body isn't too decayed for us to find out what happened. I can't stand to think Ruben could be out in 20 years!

I like to believe there is a special place in Hell for people who kill children.

I also like to believe there is a special place in Heaven for children where the air they breathe contains never-ending love ... no need for words.

Little Lonzie, may you rest in love and peace forever.

You can finally rip precious Lonzie. I can only hope that your "mother" and her friend pay for how you were treated and end up in a pile of trash where they belong as the trash they are. How anyone could do this to any child much less her own is mind boggling and hope no plea deals accepted

RIP Lonzie you beautiful boy. I am sorry you were let down by the people who were supposed to love you most. Now at peace, forever 🤬🤬🤬

  • #647
I look forward to a positive ID so that this precious love can be moved to the located forum.

I also hope that both defendants lied enough about their involvement that any deals can be voided.

Same here. At 18:25, a reporter asked if there are new charges being considered against Ebron. Angela Corey answered:

“Well, there's new charges being considered, I can't say at this point against who or how many, but just remember, as I told you, when a child is in the custody of multiple adults and we don't have a way to time the injuries, it's been an historic problem for us.

I can point to many, many child death cases where we've had these kinds of difficulties and we've had to do the best we could to seek justice for that child because usually there's only other young children in the house, as there was in this case, and it's very difficult when there is more than one person involved and the cause of death is not immediately known.”

Quite a long answer and I'm not really sure what she's saying but I don't think she's committing to others being involved. So I'd take any references to “others” with a grain of salt until we hear something different.

I think she's saying it will be hard to prove that RE caused the injuries, as any of the adults who were around Lonzie around the time he was injured could have been responsible. JMO.

Ebron could face new charges in Lonzie's death

Ebron child neglect trial postponed indefinitely; child's remains found in woods

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The discovery of human remains believed to be those of missing toddler Lonzie Barton could mean new charges against Ruben Ebron, the prime suspect in the boy's disappearance last July.

Ebron is already facing charges of child neglect, lying to police and tampering with evidence. That trial was slated to begin Monday but at the last minute Ebron waived his right to a speedy trial Monday morning, essentially postponing the trial indefinitely.

At the news conference Monday, State Attorney Angela Corey said new charges are being considered now that the remains had been found, but she declined to say how many or who they would be filed against.

Dear little Lonzie i am so glad you have been found but heartbroken just the same. We will never forget you and will always hold you close in our hearts. Fly free little one.:rose:

Wouldn't this new development now that Lonzie's been found affect what have been the current child neglect charges for RE & LB, as it can now be proven he is deceased? I can't see that it isn't Lonzie if RE led LE to the disposed of little boy where he was found.

On the flip side of that, there's probably nothing left that could have proved it was an 'accident'. There's plenty of evidence lonzie was injured and ill in the days leading to his death. It seems like a huge gamble for RE to hope there's no evidence pointing to homicide. I think lonzie was struck on the head and there may be something proving that on his skull. I don't know if I hope there is or not.

Just like Haleigh Cummings!
Look at all the low lifes in her little life!
They have no idea who did what but................They all are in JAIL and for a long long time!

I think the same can happen here... To Ruben, Lonna, Chris, etc etc....I see them all in jail....
If they cant get them for Lonzie they will get them for something else.

Im glad you were Found Lonzie!
You are in a better place!

From the press conference at about 16:00:

"Was Lonzie dead before the night of the staged car incident or do you believe he had been killed beforehand?"

Sheriff: No, we believe that probably before that he was dead, and again, that's part of the ongoing investigation, but that's our belief at this point."

"24, 48 hours before?"

Sheriff: "Probably less than that."

"Do you believe Lonzie was still alive when Lonna left for work that day?"

Sheriff: "Again, all a part of the ongoing process, there's a lot more to this investigation to unfold. We have new facts now, we have new things to talk about..."

When this came out yesterday all I could  is man she is screwed and any deal is bye-bye. :jail: for a very, very long time. :candle:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a fluid, even chaotic, day in the case surrounding missing toddler Lonzie Barton -- one that ended with a discovery that nobody wanted to make.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/2016/01/11/we-have-found-this-child/78651918/

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After 172 days, the search for missing toddler Lonzie Barton appears to be over. But the pursuit of justice in his death is just beginning.

Ruben Ebron, law enforcement’s chief suspect in Barton’s disappearance, led police to the remains believed to be Barton’s, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams acknowledged Monday afternoon.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story...laughter-charge-ebron-lonzie-barton/78640388/

The search, Williams said, was situated "probably a few miles south of our most southern locations of our original searches."

It was located approximately 9 miles from the formerly named Ravenwood Apartments, where police say Lonzie was reported missing by Ebron, his caregiver, July 24. The scene was less than 2.5 miles away from the industrial area off Greenland Road and Philips Highway where First Coast News captured JSO searching just days after the child's reported disappearance.

“This family of this community is really Lonzie’s family,” said an emotional Hackney, noting that during the 142 days of searching, the young toddler had worked his way into the hearts of residents and law enforcement agents. As to the discovery, he said, "I can't say there's any joy, but there is some satisfaction.”

thank you. he has a very good prognosis, he has stage 2b Hodgkin's lymphoma. but the size of the mass was really big and he spent 12/23 - 1/3 in the hospital. was a pretty crappy holiday for our family. he's undergoing chemo outpatient now.

Good thoughts & prayers for your son's wellbeing cvaldez. It never ceases to baffle me how so many young people end up getting cancer. I'm glad to hear his prognosis is very good, :grouphug:

RIP sweet baby boy. I was following along before work yesterday and I just couldn't shake the sad feeling that took over me.. How anyone can injure a child and throw them away like trash like they did to Lonzie.. I just can't comprehend that. I think we all knew the outcome but it certainly doesn't take the sadness away. They left that poor baby alone in the woods. :(

RIP Baby Boy... I checked on you yesterday morning - saw the court date was delayed, marked my calendar and caught up on some other cases.
Now to go back to page 18. So glad you have been found.

You know, after all the talk of alligators in previous threads I really thought Lonzie's body would never be found and RE would never be charged in his death. I'm so relieved that this has happened.
