I think Ebron led LE to Lonzie in return for a plea deal that would dismiss all other charges. What charge he accepted in return for the 20 years we have to wait to see. I think the only other charges still pending would be in another county.

I hope they both were offered plea deals with LE knowing these two would not be able to tell the truth. Thus knowing LE would never have to honor any deals.

Vigil for Lonzie Barton set for Thursday evening

Jacksonville police find skeleton likely of Lonzie Barton in 'garbage heap'

Investigators continued to search for evidence in the area Tuesday. Near the search area are a couple of mobile homes. A neighbor told News4Jax that the mobile homes had been occupied recently, but she was not sure if anyone was still living there.

A vigil is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Julington Baptist Church, which is near where the remains were found on Snyder Street. The church is partnering with the Justice Coalition to hold the vigil and the public is invited.

The Local Station will have live coverage of the vigil on News4Jax.com if you cannot attend but would like to pay your respects.

Molestors are the worst. Worse than child abusers.

He will assault someone (staff, inmate) and go to high power. Better than Protective Custody. No one wants a PC jacket following them in prison. He knows the game.

Aren't child murderers considered some of the lowest of the lows in prison (by other inmates)?

I can't imagine his time in jail will be very comfortable for him... KWIM?

AND... I can't imagine him being a "stellar" inmate... Wonder if he'll break enough rules to add to his sentence...

guess I can hope...:please:

:jail:

I am reminded of when they talked and she said "I think you love me enough....." And he said "you're wrong"

I've also thought RE led police to Lonzie to get back at lonna for testifying against him.

And the crazy continues... Chris and Ransom get into a fight:

Sheriff Joey Dobson said Chris Barton, Lonzie's father, was the aggressor in the fight with Ransom Barefoot. Chris Barton is in the Baker County Jail on drug charges, while Barefoot was arrested for aggravated battery. There were about 25-30 inmates at the service at the time of the fight.

Dobson said Barton "got some licks in" during the fight. Barton and Barefoot were in the general population of the jail at the time of the fight. On Monday, Chris Barton was moved into the medical wing of the jail after he found out that the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced they found remains that were likely that of Lonzie Barton.

I guess they're too busy fighting to be grieving.

common sense in a small county jail would tell them they were "keep aways"

Thanks so much :)

Please forgive me, I'm a scatterbrain :p Hugs from me too! Best wishes to your son for a speedy recovery. It's tough being sick as a kid, I've been there. I'm sure you will take good care of him and spoil him rotten as my parents did for me. I'm pretty sure I made money every time I had surgery lol It had its perks!

Paying my respects here online for little Lonzie. :(
Rest and fly with the angels, little one ; you deserved better !

Sitting on my hands for other things I'd like to post about those who knew where he was , all this time... and those who threw him out , as if he were garbage.

The fight (Saturday) happened before CB found out the remains of likely Lonzie were found (Monday). I'm just in awe of the kind of adults that were in this poor baby's life. The whole lot of them is in jail. Ugh. I hope his sister will end up in a safe home with a future ahead of her. :(

Oops! Yes, I read Saturday as "today," duh. Getting to be time for reading glasses for me.

And yes, let's hope his poor sister will be able to rise above this pile of losers. It's mind-boggling that nearly everyone in her and Lonzie's life has a criminal record.

In other news, there's a memorial planned for Lonzie this Thursday. News 4 is going to carry it live.

And a woman has started a gimmee fund for Lonzie's funeral - I think she means well but a local funeral home has already donated their services so hopefully someone will let her know.

We're still waiting for confirmation from the ME. I can't bear to close Lonzie's tab until I hear he's been officially identified.

You just can't make this up.....shaking my head.....that poor baby Lonzie never had a chance with any of these idiots around him....I just wish they get little sister out and completely away from any of families....she needs to be removed and put in another state and another family that isn't connected to any of these families.

This is the best article so far which explains Ebron's plea agreement and the possible pitfalls ahead in this case.

If State Attorney Angela Corey gets evidence to prove Lonzie was killed intentionally, she can charge Ebron with a felony crime, according to defense attorney Gene Nichols, who said the truth now hinges on what the medical examiner finds as the boy's cause of death.

“If there’s going to be a determination that this child suffered what would be a heinous death, something violent, if we find that there have been tremendous skull fractures or something to that extent, the suggestion that this was accidentally done on Ebron’s part potentially goes out the window,” Nichols said.

http://www.news4jax.com/news/whats-next-for-ebron-barton-in-lonzie-case

While Corey's statement about the problem of multiple caretakers clouding the issue of who's responsible is a legitimate concern I felt she backpedaled a bit on the aborted plea agreement. I'm not a lawyer but it was clear to me that Ebron's agreement meant that he would plea to aggravated manslaughter in exchange for disclosing where he hid Lonzie.

Personally (JMO) I think she was okay with the agreement but did a 180 when she saw the public's reaction. What saved her was judge Borello's refusal to sign off on it before the cause of death was established. Mind you, I'm not faulting her; finding Lonzie's body was a priority and she did the best she could.

The article pinpoints the uphill battle of determining not only how Lonzie died but whether his death was vicious - IOW, the result of Ebron losing control versus Lonzie falling down a flight of stairs or getting into Ebron's drugs. Unless the ME finds traumatic injuries we may never know what happened that night. And Ebron could skate on murder simply because the state of decomposition was too far advanced.

IMO I don't believe there was an accident and by that I mean I believe Ebron lost control and did something violent to Lonzie. But if that can't be determined we may have to live with a 20-year incarceration. And even if the plea deal gets nullified and Ebron goes to trial for murder, if his defense does a good enough job of creating reasonable doubt to the jury we may end up feeling lucky if they convict him.

IMO the best case scenario is that Ebron claimed Lonzie's death was an accident and the ME finds otherwise, in which case any plea agreement is off the table. Not that I wish that Lonzie suffered but rather because I believe he did and Ebron was the cause.

My 20 year old was diagnosed with Cancer. The Pathology was so bad that he was not declared a survivor for 10 years. (Pathology was going Testicular, lung and brain, same as Lance Armstrong). He met his wife, got married after treatments and went on to have 2 little girls 6 and 2. I asked if I was allowed to take the sperm bank charges off my Visa after #2. I never asked how they were conceived, didn't matter, I prefer to dream of miracles. Have faith and courage! L

Stunned - :grouphug:

I have a pregnant daughter who went through three missed miscarriages - this one seems to be going fine though I keep my fingers crossed night and day.

Amazing how some treasure life and others, well... not so much.
