If she is not going to be charged, then i need to bury this case in my mind asap. It's upsetting.

I’m really hoping so. I was actually planning on going to opening statements in Osceola County Friday but looks like that won’t be happening. I was NOT expecting that today!

Maybe this is the summer of plea deals.

Who’s next? For Jen, summer would be too soon. But maybe some other currently incarcerated defendant…we do have a little less than a month left.

I woke up thinking about SS changing his plea hearing late on a Friday night, mere business minutes before the CSAM trial. Why would he (and Bryan Kohberger, for that matter) do that? IMO I think they've not only had a LOT of time to think back and reflect on what they know LE has on them, but the bigger thing, IMO, is that they know EVERYTHING that conspired. And unlike a jury, who would learn a lot about a case, but never, ever know all the facts, not like the murders know them... they know they are guilty. They know they did those awful things. And perhaps that is what tips them over to plead guilty.

Hmmm...I wonder if JS will make an appearance?
I would love her to make an appearance and then be swiftly placed in handcuffs and charged .

I doubt it. She’s too chicken. I do hope we hear from Maddie’s father and step mom…from what I’ve seen, they truly adored her and they were looking for her immediately unlike JS who sat around jiggling her foot.

I’m going to be very annoyed if flipping on JS isn’t part of the deal. I’m no proponent of the death penalty, but for me, him pleading guilty to the charges wouldn’t be enough to make a deal. Yes I know, tax dollars, costly trials and the family members having to go to trial is a consideration.

However, FL is supposed to be getting “tougher” on sex crimes and child abuse. If that’s the case, then let’s start going beyond the perps and include enabling parents that look the other way. At the VERY least I do not understand how JS is not charged with criminal negligence. Those cops grilled her for a reason - they knew she knew.

I’m very critical of LE depending upon the investigation, but I imagine it must be frustrating to know someone you’ve interviewed played a role but won’t be charged. Or that they’ll be released on parole, etc.

Other parents have been charged with criminal negligence for far less, literal accidents where their children died. Where’s the accountability for Jen?

Stupid question coming up so brace yourselves!

Could SS's parents read impact statements since they are victims too? Or are impact statements just for the family of the deceased?

I have never heard of a criminals relatives making impact statements and it would be a travesty if that happened.

Yea no that won’t happen. If we allowed that there’d be more court room fist fights IMO.

I probably sound mean, but there’s a limit to my empathy for the Sterns. He was needlessly coddled and bankrolled by his parents. What his mother said about Maddie “developing” was so repulsive I wanted to spit at my TV screen.

IDT anyone needs to hear from them about anything JMHO.

The thought occurs to me that he might make an Alfred's plea where he doesn't acknowledge guilt but concedes the prosecution has enough evidence to convict him. I don't know if the state would accept that though.

Thanks for the update @Gemmie …… and this isn’t directed at you at all…..

The quote from that article….. “The plea deal would cover the sexual battery and possession of child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges plus the murder charge, which would be handled in a separate trial.

Maybe I am tired, but that latter part IMO doesn’t seem consistent with the earlier portion of the statement. And the use of ‘plus’ is further confusing IMO.

What will be handled in a separate trial? And what is being pled to? Does the plea include the murder charge or not? And which charge? MOO
Sources close to the case tell WESH 2 reporter Gail Paschall-Brown that Sterns is pleading guilty to both cases during the plea hearing on Monday.

I watched a trial none too long ago where the convicted murderer's family members friends, a church member and others who barely knew her gave impact statements. It was obnoxious, nauseating, tone-deaf --

I hope no one has to hear about SS's childhood or how he one time walked a dog.

His true character is revealed in the sick images he saved, in the dastardly acts he committed.

May there be precisely ZERO DOLLARS in his root beer barrel commissary fund going forward.

Bolded by me. How on earth hasn't JS been charged??????? And why on earth would Prosecutors even offer a deal?

This really pi***s me off. He needs to go to trial. The public needs to hear what this prize has done. Now, JS is most likely to go free.

At least the photos of MS won't need to be presented as evidence. I hated the thought of him looking at those again. I lost hope that JS would be charged with anything a while back.
