She tries to be very "cool", IMO. SS confirmed her nonchalance and coolness, IMO, when he said to a friend, she would allow him much more than every other woman (maybe a bit different wording). IMO its because A) she doesnt really care about him so she doesnt care what he does or with who, even if the who is her daughter. and B) because what else does she have to offer? shes not even a happy companion, she is depressed and she hasnt had much luck in the boyfriend dept. Stephan was her Nanny it's really that simple. She needed someone around to help with Maddi so she could focus on sleeping.

The more bodycams that come out, the more I see her acting like his defence council. When she was told that Stephan was a suspect, she asked " what makes you guys think that?" and when told that LE had photos of her boyfriend doing the unthinkable to her daughter, her response wasn't shock/horror, she didnt think "this is LE telling me this, it's probably reliable info" Instead, she said ( paraphrasing) "The sex stuff... fine, but that doesn't mean he did anything evil" and "They could be 2 separate incidents" Then she asked to see their "evidence". My ears didn't hear denial, they heard "prove it".
Having said that, I still don't believe its him that she is protecting, I don't think she loves him enough to protect him and I believe she knows him well enough to not be in denial either. The best-case scenario, is she is doing it because she needs her nanny/companion back. That's the disconnect for me, she knows hes not the salt of the earth, so no need to be shocked or in denial. Her reaction seems to be more about betrayal than what happened to her daughter. I think she's protecting herself. Sadly I dont know if we will ever find out what her angle is unless stephan talks.

Mine too, way beyond. That’s why I have a hard time understanding her behaviour. I can only think about what circumstances would make her act like she’s on another planet.

yes, JS telling her during an argument she was going to disown her and kick her out at 18. that was a separate communication by Madeline.

the running away to live in the woods at 13 communication existed, LE had her phone, her cloud, her social media platforms to scour. and it was stated during the first presser.

but this: best friend talking about what Madeline said about leaving at 13.....she says Madeline told (redacted) 'when she turns 13 she is going to leave this house and never come back'. however, best friend when asked her opinion why 13: she said Madeline bragged about getting money for her birthdays, and Madeline assumed she would be getting alot of money for her 13th birthday. then it angered Madeline when she didnt.

IMO, the BestFriend equated the statement made to the redacted name, Madeline wanting to leave at 13, was in direct relation to getting ALOT of money because 13th is a milestone and she would have enough money to make plans.

IMO, I agree with the opinions of many, Madeline wanting money meant freedom.

which brings me to this constant thought process I have: BestFriend said Madeline was NOT HAPPY... lack of monetary BD gifts. she didnt come home from her party and suddenly become happy happy happy, the happy girl so says JS and SS. JS and SS cannot even describe in detail their interactions with her that nite because, IMO, that nite was full of anger and the wrath of Madeline....IMO a confrontation resulting in her death.

Yes @Pruddennce …. and I shutter to write or even contemplate this, but have to wonder whether SS was somehow involved in giving money to MS? And if so, for what purpose? Wonder if any evidence surfaced of that? MOO

I agree with everything you have all picked up on, just from the one clip. I would like to add another weird behaviour, why didn't they invite the officer in, strange to stand there on the doorstep, I find it defensive, instead of being open and inviting him in.

I get it. I just don't like strangers in my house. Missing daughter or not. We're not all alike on that so maybe JS feels more like I do than you and others do?

Then again... JS seems off about a lot of things so I can see her not even considering that it might be the thing to do. Now that wouldn't surprise me. I can see someone saying afterwards... "Why didn't you let them in?" and her going... "Oh, I hadn't even thought about that". T'wouldn't surprise me in the least with her.

I wonder about the timing of it also, that was night 1 or maybe 2? Maybe she was afraid there may have been something left out, something of evidentiary value. They weren't home very long, although they did have all day. She gives off a lot of mixed messages with her cheery banter but doesn't ask them to come in, even when she needs their help to find her missing daughter.
I had police come to my house, when my brother died. I was making some art thing at the time, I had supplies all over the main floor, I didnt even think of the mess. it did not even factor in.

I can't watch it. The interviews of JS at the police station were the last straw for me. I never want to see or hear that woman again. I'm still shocked there have been no sightings of her. Where is she?

As much as I hate posting this again since it's so disgusting... I thought the facts should be laid out. It was 3 seconds, not minutes (WAY worse if it had been 3 minutes). The "something" was SS's penis that he recorded Maddie putting in her mouth. All she wanted to do was watch cartoons. And IMO? It's definitely how all this started. "Baby steps". 3 seconds leads to 4, then 5, then eventually many minutes until it's the norm. It's sickening.

Sorry, Forest. I didn't mean literally. I just meant, IMO, that was his role, and that's the real reason Jenn kept him around. They did not have an intimate relationship anymore; they were companions. JS had mental health concerns, probably had a hard time on her own, and didn't seem to ask her family for a lot of help ( friction?) I don't know that Jenn told Stephan that, it's just my opinion that she used him for her benefit and may have turned a blind eye to everything else. Her needs came before anything else.

So you're right, it may have started as a relationship, but then sizzled out.

That's what she said to the cop. What I am referring to was when she was younger, and it's just ironic that's all, I will find it and then repost it. I deleted it for now until I find the source. It had the same meaning as " what you don't know can't hurt you"
All the info that has come out about this case, I can't imagine how hard it must be for lawyers that have terabytes of info they have to keep track of.
