I'm with Maddi's dad. My prayer is his. And it can't come soon enough.

I am profoundly ill, angry and sad.
This hearing just seemed way too short and impersonal considering this was about the horrifying abuse and murder of a little girl.
I don't know what I was expecting, except an allocution of some sort.
If I'd been in that courtroom and heard "No Contest" it would have been very hard not to jump the railing and go after that 🤬🤬🤬. You are GUILTY, sir, and if you think otherwise then you should have defended yourself at trial.
And Jen... she had one last chance to stand up for Maddie today.
Once again, she failed her daughter.
Sorry, not sorry.
So sad and angry.
Maddiegirl, you deserved so much better.
IMO.

Ss:

"I've prayed to God take me instead."

"I pray she's in heaven. I hope she's in the choir because she has a beautiful voice."

I can't with this.
What the hell?

Honest question: Why? He can only physically serve one life sentence. What's the point of sentencing him to more?
Agree he should have had to plead guilty to murder.

Because, unfortunately, in the court system, a life sentence doesn't always mean a life sentence. I think that's why it has morphed to giving multiple life sentences through the years. (I don't know. It's not like I'm a lawyer or a judge or even have extensive knowledge of legalities.) It seems like he should have them consecutively to further underscore that he will never get out of prison. I understand the sentence says no parole but that also isn't always a guarantee, imo.

All MOO.

I'm surprised he was allowed to plead no contest to murder.

at the end of the day SS just couldn't resist sharing his thoughts on what HE lost, how hard he GRIEVES the loss of Maddi every day. I just wish A piano or a safe would fall on his head right now like in the cartoons.

He misses her... she was a joy... a loss...

Utter disconnect.

Thank you for the explanation. I appreciate you.

I am so very extremely angry that his was the last word we heard.
What a travesty that was.

I wish SS every single thing he deserves for the rest of his life and then after.

I wish the same for JS. She may never be charged. She may never face earthly justice. but I can hope for karma's intervention, at the very least. That is all.

ETA not quite all. I am still stunned that Maddi's mother couldn't be troubled to finally, at long last, stand for her daughter. I shouldn't be surprised at all, but I am sad, that once again, still, JS appears to have prioritized herself and her own comfort over doing right by her child.

There is really no more to say so I will unfollow this thread now.

I'm so sorry Maddi, for the way every happened in your life and after your death. You deserved so much more from so many.

No contest.

Coward.

This was not a case for a late plea and absolutely not one for a 'no contest'.

DP all but guaranteed.

I assume no appeals, no reductions, no commuting...

But this feels like justice was sideswiped.

I don't comment much, but I have to say I LOATHE this creature masquerading as a man! I cannot stomach his words about Maddie.. what an abyssmal cesspool he is, I am so disgusted and angry for those who love her! I hope he fades into nothing and is plagued with torment every day of his long, miserable life.
Sorry, I just had to vent and I know y'all understand.

Before SS spoke, I thought, its not enough for him to hear "the fury and the rage" he should have to respond. Then when he did speak, I realized it did more harm than good.

Clearly it was a prepared statement, with zero acknowledgment of the pain he inflicted on the people Maddi was close to.

Here's what I think... he didn't actually "hear" them speak. Not sure if he was going Lalalalala in his head, or thinking of anything but what was being said. I do not think a word of theirs registered with him. He only heard his own words, as what he lost. Give me a fracking break.

Both rsbm.

Yes.

Florida could have done so much better. Maddie & the ones who actually loved & cared about her deserved so much more.

Instead SS got to plead no contest to murder + have the very last word about Maddie in official court documents.

Absolutely disgusting.

MOO.

Based on one victim statement, I'm guessing JS has had an utter emotional breakdown. We can only guess the reasons, the obvious ones but some that would likely peel our skin.
Perhaps she's serving a different kind of sentence, a break with reality. Catatonia comes to mind.

Some people just aren't equipped.

Poor Maddie, she had wide circle of family who truly loved her. If only they knew...

Whatever lies, threats and promises SS used to groom and silence Maddie, I fear she was burdened with living with those secrets, as if it was on her to keep her home and her mom together.

Never the child's job.

If only we could rewind this whole nightmare.

As for today, I need a brain cleanse to get SS's words out of my head.

He should never have had access go that child.

What a broken world.
