THEN WHERE WAS HER IMPACT STATEMENT??? Sorry for the caps. Yeah, I was yelling there. She could have written something for someone else to read for her!

Here's what I think... he didn't actually "hear" them speak. Not sure if he was going Lalalalala in his head, or thinking of anything but what was being said. I do not think a word of theirs registered with him. He only heard his own words, as what he lost. Give me a fracking break.
Which makes you think, when he prepared his statement he didnt even consider the harm he caused others. Didnt even occur to him.
I prayed they'd take me instead or whatever he said... huh? Like she had an illness or something...
Like @Megnut said, Total Disconnect.

Ss:

"I've prayed to God take me instead."

Whaaaaaaat?
You strangled her to death. Own up to it for goodness sake.

I feel dirty after listening that 😩

Maddie mattered.

I am not watching live but have read all your comments - thank you!! Even just reading, I got teary-eyed with her friend talking about Maddie being a good swimmer and jumping in headfirst. That's wonderful to hear.

SS: No contest. Figures. Coward to the end.

JS: No show. Figures. Coward to the end.

And where is Jen Soto... She couldn't manage to attend a plea hearing for her daughter's rape and murder?
Her and Sterns are both cowards.

I thought this hearing would give some closure... I can't speak for anyone else but it made me even more angry and upset.

Hearing Maddie's father saying that she'd agreed to go and live with him once she turned 13 broke my heart.

I don't think it's been confirmed yet that she was there.

IMO making a statement was a no-win situation for JS. She's damned if she doesn't, but I don't think she could say anything about how much she loved and misses Madeline that people who have followed the case would have believed.

It would have been super weird for her to suddenly try to put on a devastated mother act when she's never, IMO, seemed particularly devastated by the loss of Madeline.

She was way more emotional about losing SS.

Civil judgment, court costs, $11,000
The state should take the money from SS’s canteen fund. He would suffer from longing for those root beer barrels.

Not surprising as JS never appeared to be there for Madeline when she was alive. 🤬

wonder how long that will last...
If Florida prisons are like Louisiana’s Angola, tons of prisoners have shanks.

I feel the same, I feel shorthanded somehow. Not that I needed to hear details , but I want to know what happened? How she died, why she died. I feel like they get away with no shame/ less shame in what they did when they dont have to say it out loud.

My question still stands even if she wasn't there. Where was her impact statement?!??!?

I'm with you that it was a no-win situation for JS. But since it was a no-win situation, she should have decided to lose by giving an impact statement IMO! She was her MOTHER. And she's the one that sent her to sleep with her murderer. So IMO, she chose the easy way out by not giving a statement. I can't help but to feel like she lost more in this no-win situation for making that choice.

Remember that the judge told the participants on zoom to have the microphones off. Maybe the judge didn’t want us to hear when LE placed the cuffs on JS. Wishful thinking.
