She could be innocent - the lie about seeing her daughter at 8am when Maddie was already deceased could be as simple as not wanting to look like a bad mom for not having paid more attention that morning. Or it could be something much worse.

It must be horrible to lose your daughter and have the entire world looking at you and questioning everything you did or didn’t do as a parent. If she so much as farts it would be all over the internet right now.
She probably has a lawyer at this point. And was told to take it all down. She doesn’t strike me as someone that’s on LinkedIn as much as on other SM. Might have forgotten about it and or took it down today bc of views influx.
Public probably gravitated towards more popular platforms first, but now there’s nothing left to look at, so LinkedIn it is.
Just MOO

The info about SS and JS being split up and SS sleeping in a different bedroom (and moving away and living with his parents, etc.) that’s all from the alleged friend who called in to Gray Hughes right? And that friend is going off of what SS would have told him, it doesn’t seem like he witnessed the living arrangements and relationship status firsthand?

So her first priority was to not look like a bad mom, rather than to tell the truth to help find her daughter's killer?

Actually, the weird part is the LinkedIn profile was down/unavailable before, and then was up today when the link was posted earlier. Then down again.

But I agree, probably has a lawyer. Innocent or guilty, it would be unwise not to have one at this point.

Wait, what even the what what?
Well, to be fair I said that it could have been something like that to infer that the lie could have been a really hasty and dumb fib in the moment, or something more sinister. The point being, we don’t know yet.

Has she taken back the lie? Said it was a hasty and dumb fib in the moment? No?

Okay then.

IIRC the friend said he had never been to JSs house and only visited SS bedroom at his parents house so you’re right - it would have been just what SS told him. We don’t know if the breakup and separate bedrooms is true.

If your child is missing and your response is to lie to the police because you don't want to appear as a bad mother, then you are a bad mother, and a criminal. Maddie was missing, and mom couldn't have seen her get dressed. Time is of the essence, a life is on the line, and no loving parent thinks of themelves in a situation like that.

Up until we heard that news, I looked for innocent explanations for some of the weirdness here. Everyone grieves differently, and everyone responds differently in times of crisis.

Her initial reaction to her daughter's disappearance (not immediately going inside the school, driving around, sending an email) could have been based on something we weren't aware of (a previous pattern of behavior on the part of MS). The opposite side of that would be an effort to delay the discovery of Maddie's disappearance.

JS pivoting between "we" and "he" during those news interviews, could simply have been her misspeaking. The opposite side of that being an effort to protect SS.

The last sighting of Maddie being that previous night could be explained by work obligations, or JS being sick or something. The opposite side being that something happened between then and the morning and she didn't want to go there (she apparently told a different lie to LE).

There were probably a dozen small things that gave me pause, and I found innocent explanations for those as well. However, that lie about seeing Maddie at 8 in the morning was like a nuclear bomb going off. For me, all benefit of the doubt was destroyed with it.

ADMIN NOTE:

We received a question asking if the mother could be sleuthed, and as we are allowing the mother to be discussed as a suspect, members are also allowed to sleuth her as they normally do a POI/suspect.

Okay wow. I believe I had already said upthread what I thought about the seeing Maddie at 8 lie. I was just making a comment about the possibility of it not being as sinister as we think, or the possibility of it absolutely being as sinister as we think.

Anyway, I think I’ll just shut up for now :)

I guess I missed this tidbit. Older article but I missed that Jenn received an automated message at 6 pm that Madeline was missing from school.

Wonder if she called police back then? Why does the report say 8?
I don't think we know if that was the time the report was filed, or if that was when she first contacted law enforcement. We've heard her side of the story, saying that it was around 4:45 if I recall correctly. If true though, I can't imagine it would take that long for law enforcement to take a report. This could be another one of those pesky "inconsistencies."

I’m honestly curious about this-

Do you think that Jenn Soto used a filter in one interview and wasn’t able to on the other? Do you see the difference I do? If so is that a choice you have to make each time or is your device just set up that way on zoom or whatever? Links for source.

Those phone records are going to be very interesting.

It looks like in the first interview she is doing an on camera interview with a reporter. The second one was done remotely. You're always going to have better image quality with the former vs the latter.

Yup, that's why I think this has taken a while, and may take a while longer. Their phones are going to play a massive role in all of this, and I'm sure they'll be using that data to also track down more video. I'm super interested to see what communication went on between mom and SS that day.

This part was interesting "and while a license plate reader captured Sterns’ vehicle at some point, the details about where and when this happened were redacted from the report".
is it possible this is why it was redacted, we assume this is the car caught on the plate reader at 8:10 , and he was reported to have had a flat sometime in the afternoon, ( back left tire) whats up with that? Didnt even occur to me at first how they got the plate no from that top picture? so they got him after too (afternoon)

I was just thinking about some not-directly related background things here

We know that SS is 37 and that M was 13. Can anyone link me J-s age here?
I think I've seen it that she had a d.o.b in late 1980s, but I'm unsure if I remember correctly. I see she started at WD in 2004. I'm mostly just thinking about how old was she when she had M?
  • The latest friend (Frank) interviewed, said that SS had moved out of the condo several months ago and drove back to Kissimmee to attend Maddie's birthday party.
We have no actually reliable info about the relationship (unknown source claiming that SS claimed; <modsnip>), but possible conflict(s), especially in the last half a year or so do interest me, as they could provide a motive to kill M (revenge at J for ending it, anger at M for "not being under his control" any more, fear that M might tell others about the abuse now that he is not around, probably even more options) and I am also confused at "driving back to attend party" when AFAIK, he did not attend at least one of the parties but was, by the look of things, still "there"?
