FL FL - Margaret “Helen” Becker, 81, Sebring, 16 Jan 2020

That’s amazing that her phone still worked and they could get such a detailed timeline. I wonder if she had a mini stroke and couldn’t navigate home or communicate to anyone that she needed help.

Three windows down in the truck tells me she realized what was about to happen at the boat ramp. She had to have hit the power window buttons, unsnapped her seatbelt and gotten out of the vehicle. She just didn’t survive the aftermath unfortunately. She must have been terrified. Poor lady.

Just had time to really read through Highland County's post and found this bit interesting. Anyone know if this is true ?

64. She continued to the Bombing Range/Avon Park Correctional Institution entrance. (IMPORTANT NOTE: It is well documented that people suffering from dementia tend to turn toward their dominant hand when they are lost and confused and faced with a choice. Becker is reported to have been right-handed.)

I didn't know that but I do after Googling.

I wish they could have found Ms. Helen. I understand that at some point they have to call it off but it's just so sad. :( MOO

Is the individual right or left-handed? Wandering generally follows the direction of the dominant hand.

Sad news, but certainly not unexpected. IMO, they went above and beyond to try to find Mrs. Helen.

Thank you so much. The only time I have access to an actual computer is at work. LOL Yeah, the end result is they did a wonderful job to try and find her. It just didn't seem like it at first because everything was hush hush and behind the scenes.

I’ve been posting on the highlands county Facebook under one of the posts about finding her truck. Other people don’t understand about this sleuthing thing lol. One lady told me to solve the crime since I’m a know it all
Do you think you could possibly find interest in the case of my friend?
Her name's Amanda Holland.
Shes been missing for so long, and everyone has forgotten.
I even visited her mom a month back.
She doesn't seem worried at all.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Margaret, who goes by "Helen" was last seen on Thursday, January 17, 2020 at approximately 3:30pm. Helen left her residence, driving a blue Chevrolet Colorado, bearing Ohio license plate number HOB8214. Law Enforcement was able to determine Helen was at the CVS in South Sebring, at approximately 4:30pm. She later went to Publix, which is located within the same plaza as the CVS. She entered the store at approximately 6:05pm, bought a few items, then exits the store at approximately 6:13pm.

Just adding a thought on this HCSO statement upthread:

"Mrs. Becker was identified by the person working the main entrance to the Range as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle when it entered the Range"

Since she didn't stop, did this person manning the gate just get a glimpse of her going by? Because I'm wondering if he didn't actually look inside the truck there could have been others that could have been laying down across the seats as she drove through - could be why the other windows were down too.

Editing to add: others who might have been forcing her to drive there.

She was in the CVS store for 90 minutes. What did she do there?!

I think the NamUs entry is misleading. According to Highlands County Sheriff's Office, she was in the CVS for about a half-hour. She picked up prescriptions. MOO

4:19 p.m. – Mrs. Becker arrives at the CVS at 2728 US 27 South (Southgate Plaza) in a blue 2018 Chevrolet Colorado (Ohio tag HOB8214). She goes into the store and picks up prescriptions and exits at 4:48 p.m. A person who saw her at the store said she appeared confused. She has not been diagnosed with dementia, however.

6:05 p.m. – Mrs. Becker enters the Publix at the Southgate Plaza (2848 US 27 South). The video shows she was wearing knee-length light blue pants (maybe jeans) and a blue checkered shirt. She appeared a little unsteady on her feet. She purchased bananas and left the store at 6:17 p.m.

But if Publix was in the same mall area as CVS, where did she go after exiting CVS at 4:48 and entering Publix at 6:05. That's an hour and 15 min. unaccounted for.

I'm wondering that myself. Somewhere the cameras didn't capture her? Maybe she got a bite to eat? I dunno. MOO

There is a whole nother parking lot attached to that Publix parking lot. There is a dollar tree, a hungry Howies pizza place as well as a Chinese place, then south of there is a circle k gas station. If she would've went from there right onto Lakeview she'd end up at the light at 27. There's a village inn restaurant, a McDonald's and a Burger King. If she would've went from the CVS onto 27 then there is a Popeyes to the west.
