[h=1]Human bones found in water at Ray Wayside Park[/h]
http://www.ocala.com/news/20171218/human-bones-found-in-water-at-ray-wayside-parkAccording to MCSO Public Information Officer Lauren Lettelier, an off-duty detective was flagged down on Sunday by several citizens at Ray Wayside Park, also known as the Ocala Boat Basin, at 9564 NE 28th Lane, Silver Springs, in reference to possible human remains being found in the water.
The MCSO detective confirmed the presence of human remains, secured the scene and notified the MCSO Major Crimes Unit. Marion County officials have closed the park until further notice due.
The remains are currently unidentified.
On Monday, visitors were being turned away from the park. Lettelier was at the scene. She said a forensics team was assessing DNA and that the investigation remains ongoing.
When asked if the remains were found in the main part of the basin, she responded in the affirmative. She also indicated that the agency is checking any cases that might have a connection to the remains. She said she could not speak about the condition of the remains or any time element related to how long they had been in the water.
