[h=1]Human bones found in water at Ray Wayside Park[/h]
According to MCSO Public Information Officer Lauren Lettelier, an off-duty detective was flagged down on Sunday by several citizens at Ray Wayside Park, also known as the Ocala Boat Basin, at 9564 NE 28th Lane, Silver Springs, in reference to possible human remains being found in the water.

The MCSO detective confirmed the presence of human remains, secured the scene and notified the MCSO Major Crimes Unit. Marion County officials have closed the park until further notice due.

The remains are currently unidentified.

On Monday, visitors were being turned away from the park. Lettelier was at the scene. She said a forensics team was assessing DNA and that the investigation remains ongoing.

When asked if the remains were found in the main part of the basin, she responded in the affirmative. She also indicated that the agency is checking any cases that might have a connection to the remains. She said she could not speak about the condition of the remains or any time element related to how long they had been in the water.

I hope not, but my first thought was someone was swimming in gator water.
The picture in above link reminded me of the "I Was Prey" episode on Animal Planet wherein a lady was swimming in the same type of surroundings and was bitten by a gator. She survived but lost her arm.

Mercury-tainted bones shut down Medical Examiner's Office

LEESBURG – The Medical Examiner's Office in Leesburg is shut down temporarily after mercury was discovered on human bones brought into the facility Tuesday.

According to officials with the Medical Examiner's Office, the bones were discovered at Ray Wayside Park east of Ocala. They apparently had been used in a Santeria ritual and had been sprinkled with mercury.
[...]
Medical Examiner's Office will try to determine their origin, but Harding said it's easy to acquire human bones, especially in South Florida, where Santeria is commonly practiced in the large Caribbean community. Mercury is easily obtainable as well, he said.
