Just a tad OT: your hubby's blood type is considered the Universal Recipient & is a very common blood type. But good for him for donating--nice job!

Anyone here with O- (aka the Universal Donor) in the Orlando area should really consider donating blood during this tragedy. Much needed. Please.

Moo

Precisely why they call and/or email him when it's time for his regular donation. He's been donating blood for nearly 40 years.

I wasn't talking about your post, teh. As far as your question goes, I think there have been/are many more gay terrorists than this one (if in fact, he was). They just ignore their sexual preference/sexuality because it is rammed down their throats from birth that being gay is an abomination against "Allah". Also, it's punishable by death in many countries. Then again, this wonderful religion also stones/beats women to death who are raped. (because, you know, it's their fault and they asked for it.)

Probably time for me to get out of this thread.

Bacha Bazi is a way of life for many muslims, its practice is 'allowed' on foreign US military bases. Yanno, because 'culture.'

People Magazine reported earlier on Monday that Mateen’s ex-wife told the feds he had recently scouted Disney World.

Salman told authorities the couple had recently been to Downtown Disney as well as Pulse in April, a federal law enforcement source told People. People's source indicated Mateen may have been scouting the locations for a potential attack.

Another potential avenue of investigation is a pair of trips Mateen, 29, took to Saudi Arabia in March 2011 and March 2012 for umrah, a non-mandatory visit to Mecca for Muslims. Saudi Arabia's

I think we really have to look at fundamentalists for what they are first. And be realistic about it.

To look at it from a simplified micro-approach, I don't think it's wise to leave your doors wide open in a high crime zone + throw bonbons at the would be burglars? What next; sing kumbaya?

Intent, assimilation, core beliefs & actions need to be measured--not assumed.

Exactly, and our so called leaders think the best way to battle their hate is with more hate. A viewpoint that is shared by many posting in this thread.

Time to try something else.

I don't believe that nightclub was filled with haters. Quite the opposite. Love didn't save them. Nor did it save the people in the cafes...or on the London trains...at FT..Hood...at the Christmas party in San Bernadino. They had given the couple a baby shower...an act of generosity and loving friendship. Look how that love was repaid.

It's a wonderful dream and concept...but human's who can see the terror in the eyes of passengers in a plane or people hiding in a bathroom...and show no mercy..No,...love means nothing to them. And if we love our families and our children, we have to accept that to keep them safe.

IMHO, the Pres is a little too preachy for my liking! Always telling us "we're better than that" from the ivory tower he rests upon. Always telling us how we should feel during tragedies.
No sir, I'm not buying whatever it is you're selling. Thanks, but no thanks!

I found it offensive and how he always is so dismissive if it is a mass shooting done by another Muslim extremist. Any other time he wouldn't act so nonchalant. He shows more heated passion against a cop when they shoot a criminal. And of course he seems to think because this may be a lone-wolf attack its not as important as if Mateen had ties to ISIS. Of course it is just as important, even more so because this was one of our own citizens who betrayed us. Dead is dead no matter if this guy acted alone or otherwise but he always has to mention that as if it somehow lessens the gravity of what happened.:(

It always seems to be our fault when he speaks out on a mass shooting involving another radical Muslim extremist. He lumps them in with all mass shooters when they are in a league all of their own and are doing more and more attacks here due to their religious beliefs. I even wonder if he knows this is the new war we all face both here and abroad? Sometimes I wonder.

None of us were involved in the horrific murders at Pulse but yet you would think listening to him...we were the ones at fault. He should have blasted the Muslim extremist that took all of these innocent lives and wounded so many

Another thing that bothers me is the bodies weren't even out of the building yet before he jumps on his anti-gun agenda.

I just wish he was much more forceful coming out against these Muslim extremists murderers by coming down on them hard but that really never seems to happen.

I think it's just so wrong that a crime committed against one minority is being used to target another one! When will people finally wake up and realize we are all different in our own ways and to simply let it be and celebrate our differences, cultural or otherwise.

And got caught messing around with the hated lifestyle....imo. oh brother

I thought this have experinced it when younger. Go up to a guy, see a wedding band , I tend to process "stuff" with people. It always broke my heart, to meet married men, who could not come out, and were living the married and children lie

cant imagine what that would be like

I had a good coming out as far as family goes, (father had some issues intially!) but everyone else. aunts uncles grandarents etc

I watched continuing news coverage today (mostly CNN, then NBC Nightly News (a full hour) and local news, as well. I was truly saddened to learn that the distraught mother who appeared on several newscasts yesterday turned out to the from Michigan. Her 32-year-old son was killed during the rampage. I posted a local article about the young man earlier today.

DH and I feel we need a break from this horrific news and will watch a rented DVD tonight.

I wish networks would stop featuring photos of the shooter - especially the ones where he looks arrogant and smug :stormingmad:

Kudos to Comcast/Xfinity for their rainbow tribute on my homepage :)

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

I am just going with the news coming out. Gay dating sites, 12 trips to Pulse....could we have our first gay terrorist?
I wondered how many trips to pulse to know the routine + lay out!

People should be worried about the fact that someone on an FBI watch list was able to carry this out so easily without obstruction IMO.

"dream and concept" huh? Is that all it is to you?
I am here preaching LOVE and getting ridiculed by poster after poster. Think about that for a second. Then think about what is going on in this world. Its time for a change, because its getting more and more obvious that if we dont make the change a catastrophic event will do it for us.

WHY IS EVERYONE SO FRIGHTENED ABOUT LETTING GO OF THEIR HATE?

Ok, let me explain.
A **recipiant** can receive blood from anyone. Your hubby can accept blood from anyone in an emergency if he is in an immediate need of blood due to injury. He is O+
A **donor** can give blood to anyone injured in an emergency but can only receive blood from the O- type which is approx 5% of the world. This is O-.

I hope that clears it up for you, Bette. ;-)

During the press conference today, the Attorney General kept repeating the number to call to find out if your loved one is a victim and urging people to call if they think they know someone that might have been in the club. I took that to mean that 25 victims have had no queries about them and therefore can't notify next of kin. IMO

It may also be that the police department and hospital are being inundated with calls asking about friends and family and the AG is trying to direct calls to a specific number set up to handle the load of calls. I could be totally wrong, just a guess.

They must see it as a form of armor .. I'm wondering the same thing.

It's the second minority that massacred the first minority. That's who needs to "wake up." It's the, second minority that refuses to accept and celebrate our differences. They are trying to impose their religious beliefs on others through violence. Can't "celebrate" with people who kill those who don't conform to their belief system.

I have thought all along he was in the closet, either one night stands, with either gay or transgender, thus not so much homophobia but a hatred toward himself and not knowing how to accept his desires so to speak.

I think he was born in an environment of hate. He was taught from an early age to hate the homosexuals and to believe they all deserved to be murdered.

I don't think he was a closeted gay.

Even the drag queen guys never said he was gay.
