*Trial continues with Jury Selection (Day 2) (@ 9am ET) – FL – Megan Denise Gula Todt (42), Aleksander (13), Tyler (11), Zoe (4) & dog Brezzy (last heard from Jan. 6, 2020, Celebration; found Jan. 13, 2020; LE believe they have been dead since Dec. 29, 2019) - *Anthony John Todt (44/now 46) arrested (1/15/20), charged (1/16/20), indicted (2/25/20) & arraigned (2/28/20) with 4 counts of premeditated murder & 1 count of animal cruelty. Charges changed (1/29/20) & arraigned (2/28/20) with 4 counts of 2nd degree murder & animal cruelty charge dismissed. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. DA will seek DP & has changed mind on 1/4/21 will not seek DP.
Trial began on 4/4/22 with jury selection. Trial expected to start on 4/11/22 (3 week trial).

4/5/22 Tuesday, Jury Selection Day 2: Lawyers expect jury selection to take most of the week, if not the entire week. Three panels of 50 people each are being considered as potential jurors. Lawyers cycled through the first panel Monday, advancing 29 people to the next round (on 4/6/22 return). Carsten said the plan is to whittle the pool down to 50 potential jurors for more voir dire, then pick 14 jurors from there. Jury selection continues. Next 50 potential jurors for today. The 29 jurors from Monday to appear on 4/6/22.

I’m retired too actually. I do some volunteering at the animal shelter but it’s flexible hours so I’ll be watching/reading too. It should be interesting. I hope the fact that they uploaded the pre-trial hearing means that they have gotten the live streaming issue figured out.

Hard to believe that his confession is excluded. Why would detectives interview him before reading him his Miranda rights? Thankfully his two subsequent confessions are admissible. Hoping for the death penalty for this monster.

Only AT’s first of three confessions was excluded. Based on the documents previously mentioned from the Osceola County Clerk website, it is my understanding that prior to or during his first confession law enforcement began to read him his rights but mistakenly failed to recite them fully. Once law enforcement realized their mistake, they read him his full rights, and everything after that point has been allowed. I agree that it is not a good look for law enforcement, but there are still a lot of things that were said subsequent to the proper recital that will be hard for AT’s defense attorneys to explain away. MOO.

Edit to add: This article has all of the details on what went wrong during the first reading of rights. Basically, the officer did not have his Miranda card with him and tried to recite them from memory but missed one.

I thought so too. It’s really how I first found out about the case, by running into the podcast by accident. The case is interesting from a psychological perspective. You hear from all these people about what a great guy Anthony Todt was and how shocked everyone was, so it’s hard not to look at him and wonder if he was covering up the evil all his life or if the circumstances he was in lead him there.
