FL - Sara Morales, 35, shot dead by motorcyclist she hit with car, Orange City, 20 Nov 2021

  • #261
Aubry was unarmed though.

Motorcycle riders have to deal with a lot dangerous and bad driving and all that could end deadly for a rider opposed to a someone in a car so I suppose he was really pissed off and for once didn't want the car driver to just get away with this.

To me as a German this whole thing is an inevitable consequence of an armed population. Someone then of course has to judge who was in the right but it's a risk people are willing to take.
And plenty of people have to deal with motorcyclists bad behavior.

Plenty of motorcyclists deal with the bad behavior of automobile drivers. We see texting, left turns in front us, many who don’t want to share the road with us.

We get annoyed, but we don’t shoot them.

I agree this is a consequence of an armed population, I would add, emboldened by “citizen’s arrest” and “stand your ground” laws.
Would you follow someone home after a traffic incident with no injury, even though you have their car tag number?
If you were a victim of alleged road rage, would you pursue the perpetrator?

The men should never have followed her. They had her license plate # and they reported that to police. Police should have handled it and NOT these three men. What were these men hoping to achieve?
Hold her down until police got there?!
I see shades of the Aubery case here The men chasing Aubrey were later charged with murder by a jury of their peers.
So chased her because of the color or her skin? Comparing that to case to this is...(I'll get a time out for saying)

  • #265
So, why do you think that one of the chasers who did not know him, would join in chasing her? What would you do if three men on motorcycles were chasing you to your home?
Because they were a Good Samaritan who saw the hit and run.

  • #266
The point to me is they had her plate number and should have let the police hand it.Zero need to follow her home.
You all can keep saying this until you are blue in the face but they had every right to follow her after the hit and run. Maybe you wouldn't have done it, maybe I wouldn't have done it but they did. She shouldn't have left the scene or pulled out a gun and she'd still be here.

It is similar because bystanders (whether good or bad) decided to take matters into their own hands when it should have been left for the police to handle. In both instances, death occurred unnecessarily, DA.

You’re correct. You wouldn’t have done it nor would I have done it, but someone who was driving aggressively towards her, threatening her (all according to SM), and with numerous previous arrests would be the type of person who would do it.

I would also leave the scene and call 911 if multiple men were threatening me, which is what she did. She doesn’t say she hit anyone and there is no proof that she did. They chased her home because they WANTED to intimidate her IMO. She exited her car with a gun and he shot her eight times.

But he had the licence number so she wasn't going to get away with anything. So the only reason that makes sense to me to follow her home was some type of fight or retribution.
A license plate number doesn't always mean anything. We had the license number of someone who backed into our car and left---a witness left us a note and we got the video from the petco, and saw it for ourselves . But the insurance company tried to track them with the license plate number, with help from PD, and it was a stolen plate. So it didn't lead back to anyone.

But there wasn’t any damages or injuries. Just a few butt hurt men threatening and driving aggressively towards a woman. (According to SM’s 911 call.)

If she was pointing her gun towards the men, who were all armed, why was AD the only one to draw his gun and shoot her eight times? Neither of the other men were intimidated enough to even draw their firearms, much less empty them on her. Why was that?

I'd like to hear what the other witnesses had to say about that. Maybe she was pointing it specifically at the guy who shot her?

Me too. Her mom says she wasn’t pointing the gun at him or them. Listening to her 911 call she arrives home, exits her car and is shot dead. It’s just a matter of seconds.

Here is the information that I am going on. I don't know how accurate any of it is----

It started with a crash Saturday evening. Police said Sara-Nicole Morales, 35, intentionally hit a motorcyclist, identified as Andrew Derr, 40. He was not injured.

The police department said Derr and witnesses tried to get Morales to stop, but she drove away. They followed her to get more information to give to police.

When Morales arrived at her home, the witnesses called 911 and asked officers to respond. According to the police department, Morales went inside her house and came out a short time later to confront Derr and the witnesses. That’s when she pointed a handgun at Derr, police said.

So given the above info, I am defending the motorcyclists right to follow her, and have the police meet them at her home. It shouldn't have been a problem, if she had just stayed inside her home...

But that is a far stretch from saying I would follow someone home to shoot them...
If you listen to her 911 call that she started before she got home, it tells a different story than the witnesses who followed her.

This report is quite biased because it only tells the men’s 911 call and not the terrified Sara’s 911/call and her description as to what happened. Honestly it’s quite unbelievable that this narrative is being pushed in the media.

So would I. Then again, if I intentionally damaged his property and then drove off....
She didn’t damage his property.

BBM If even that. I don’t think she hit him with her car. Dude is allegedly a trouble maker and a hothead.
Why would those other witnesses say that she did hit him? That's what I don't get.

Perhaps they were friends?
There’s so much we don’t know.
Why would 2 unknown witnesses take it upon themselves to join the biker, (one in a pickup truck and one on a motorcycle according to SM’ 911 call), and follow her to her home because of a minor traffic incident with no injuries and no obvious damage to the bike?
If she did hit him, the damage was minor to his bike and his body, he was not knocked over or off his bike by any account. The state of Florida does not require one stay at the scene in that type of accident, the law is posted in this thread.
On her 911 call while she is driving she says they are following her, aggressive and threatening. Then she gets out of her car, still on 911, they are yelling at her but it’s not audible what they are saying. She yells, it’s ok, the cops are coming but I cannot understand what they yell back in response. 17 seconds later 8 shots are fired, a few seconds over a minute after she arrived home.
Contrary to media reports and the LE FB post based on the witnesses accounts who followed her home, she did not enter her house. She didn’t have time, imo.
The gunshots are also heard on the witness’ 911 call, he immediately tells the dispatcher she’s been shot and it was self defense.
Nothing after that except her mother’s screams and cries.

If ALL of the above is true, why no arrests?

Why would these 3 people follow her if there was nothing to the accident:? I don't get that at all.
