I’ve been spending a lot of time reading the Bible, they got me a Bible in here,” Duggar told his wife, Kendra Duggar, per a recording obtained by People. “I’m in solitary. I’m in the cell 23 hours of the day. It’s like an 8-by-10 area.”

I’ve been able to read a lot, actually, and resting some, but I’m not sleeping great through the night.”

I just did some scary math - so Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar raised 19 children and wanted to spread their superior way of life (while making money) to the masses. Out of 19 children, so far we have 4 who were molested as minors and 2 who presently molest minors/download revolting child porn. Am I right about these numbers? 6 of the 19 are known victims of predation or predators. And this is what has only been made public. In my experience, most child abuse never comes to light. We need to shine more light - disinfect everywhere. The number of victims affected by a single predator over their lifetime can be astounding.

I hear FL has tough laws on this - thank goodness. It seems to me they just don’t stop. With so many children at risk, you would think we would have studied and examined how to stop the cycle and never ending pervasiveness.

You are but I’d guess we are looking at 19 out of 19 and I’d guess that the predators were also victims so yeah you got it correct - it’s that bad and not loud enough

Imagine calling your husband who is in jail for molesting a child for anything except to help LE. Wild.

We need a new reality show with Anna and Kendra called Pedophile Wives.

Yeah, what exactly is she telling herself that makes it okay if her husband likes to sexually abuse little girls?

I listened to a conversation where Joe talked about the bible, and the two talked about devices.

(Nobody talked about the well-being of their children. Dudette has a court hearing late April; you would think at the very least she would make it seem like she cares about children, being charged with imprisoning and endangering minors. But I can't imagine having to fake concern for them. If she is entirely disconnected from Joes charges, at the very least she should be concerned with how his anticipated long incarceration impacts her children.)

I agree that it does not appear it was her intention to help LE. But she may have, anyway. She did mention going through his list regarding his devices at his request following his checklist. Now he has to explain that. He could say he wanted to transfer responsibility for financial accounts to her, hence mentioning passwords, but that explanation falls apart when she also needs to make sure she gets hold of his phone. At least, I think. I think she may have given some justification for going through Joe's devices/clouds if they hadn't had it before.

MOO

Michelle blamed little girls for lifting their dresses while playing. They twist anything to prove their point of view. Toddler Jezebels!

There is an incredible amount of brainwashing involved in cults. It is them against the world. She has been taught since a young age not to tempt men (as if they cannot control themselves) and yet that the husband/father is the instrument through whom God works. He can never be bad - if he is, it was the devil (likely from outside the cult's scary world undue influence), he was tempted by inappropriate young children's behaviors, and/or whatever he did, maybe she is partly to blame for not fulfilling his needs. Last, he can repent and be saved....they do not look at it scientifically (eg research suggests pedo predators do not change and remain a danger to society in most cases).

All of this makes me ill, but I have some empathy for her - what chance do you have when this is all you know? When the outside world and their statistics are not to be trusted and are there to tempt you away from the true right godly path? Leaving your husband would make you the terrible wife and mother people already suspect you are for your husband straying like this. MOO - maybe I am wrong, but this is what I see at play. Personally, I don't think cults should be considered true religions when they subjugate people and enforce rules that keep them from making decisions for themselves. I guess easier said than done. :( But how often to we see this among highly secretive and all life encompassing religions/cults? Too much. I don't trust any system set up to not be held accountable for breaking the law. And to me, the more insulated the society, the lack of encouragement to go out into the world and make critical thinking decisions about what is true, the worse these stink. Unless deprogrammed and provided with the tools to leave their broader community and families, I don't see how Anna and/or Kendra have any real ability/chance to think for themselves they way we do.

It's far worse than it was for everyday American women in the 50s and before for whom divorce was not an option, leaving the house to work, going to college, all severely restricted for most. The choices for most didn't exist. Yes, people too easily treat marriage as expendable these days - but at least now women have choices. My mother came up in an era where you were an old maid if you weren't married by 23, it was a waste of money for her parents to consider sending her to college just to be a housewife anyway, etc. Still, she had more agency and knowledge than these girls.

I am not defending her or her spouse. But it appears that the law is applied unequally. After all, Jana Duggar was charged, and arrested based on a child wandering off. Heck, we have seen kids out wandering around, no one gets charged and booked.

Apply the law equally to everyone.
IIRC:
Jana was charged with a misdemeanor and not arrested.
She ended up pleading guilty and paid a fine.

It is interesting how incredibly naive Joe Duggar is/was. I seriously think that he thought he could admit wrong doing, say, "Sorry", and move on.

If he had not confessed, if he had denied everything, it would have been "he said, she said"', and without actual evidence or even some sort of corroborating evidence, I wonder if he would have even been arrested.

I think Joe Duggar is in big trouble. State prisons in Florida are not nice places. Josh is in a nice cushy federal prison, in a unit for sickos like himself.
