Jim Bob's letter continued.
"Jim Bob ended his message by warning his son that he will face "major consequences" for his alleged crimes.
“You are just going to have to accept the situation at this point and it’s also fine to pray that God would have mercy on you, but you’re probably gonna face a [sic] major consequences for several years to come,” Jim Bob wrote. “I pray that God will bring other Christians into your life to encourage you and that you can also point people to Christ even through the time you’re in jail and prison. God will be with you! He will get you and your family through!”
"David in the Bible royally messed up, but he repented and became a man after God's own heart. You also like Joseph who was in prison, can make lemonade out of lemons," he concluded. "I love you and we'll keep praying for you, don't give up. God is not finished with your life. Love you, Dad. 'Trust in the Lord, lean not to your own understanding.'"
Could you imagine being in prison for a "normal" crime, like injuring someone in a bar fight as a wild example, and a freaking molester of a nine year old tries to tell you that he can point you to Jesus?
With most crimes, there are two sides to the story. It takes two to tango. There could be financial desperation. There can be extreme stress. There can be selective enforcement. There is usually something that keeps the perpetrator seeming relatable or forgivable, even while the person belongs in prison for a while.
But when it comes to hurting a nine year old, there is nothing that is relatable or forgivable.
The arrogance of these people, thinking that they are so special because of their faith that that they can molest children, then bring a convenience-store-robber to God.
MOO
