GPD is asking for the public’s help in locating 60-year-old Shawn Way (2/21/1965).

On October 3rd, Way was discharged from UF Health Shands Hospital. Way is from Old Town, FL, and has not made it home or contacted family.

He has no phone or ID with him. Way has medical issues that require medication, and it is unknown currently if he has that medication with him.

Way is describe being 6’ 1” and weighs approximately 150 lbs. He was last known to be wearing Hey Dude style shoes, dark shorts and a white T-shirt. Way was last seen at approximately 2 p.m. on October 4, in 2000 block of SW 16th Avenue.

2 months later: Gainesville Police still searching for missing endangered 60-year-old man

Officers put up a post on social media asking again for information that could help them find Shawn Way, 60.

The last public record I could find for him in Dixie County was a minor traffic ticket (not wearing seatbelt) in 2014. ONLINE COURT RECORDS SEARCH I also checked the county in which he was discharged from the hospital and there's been nothing noted there recently.

So I don't know if he has a perment address there, is unhoused, living with others, or what. Based on the photos he is not in the best of shape physically, and probably needs continued care so being unaccounted for this long is concerning.
