Okay, so as we all are hearing, this Kellam guy is coming out in all the reports. Sorry if this was posted but this just came in from NG's FB Status Update:

Just In: Somer Thompson's killer on loose. Cops have a lead in the case. Kenneth Kellam a convicted sex offender was arrested after allegedly following two elementary school boys home. The DA working that case says it's "geographically feasible" that Kellam could have a connection to the death of 7-year-old Somer Thompson who was last seen walking home from school. Is there a link?"

I know his MO is for young males. But something has to be legit for the media to be all in a tizzy. DNA? Something is about to break!

Anyway, question...didn't Somer have on a a jogging suit? Just wondering because a child of any gender that age wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt look the same from afar...unless they have long hair hanging down.

Except that her jumpsuit was burgundy and she had a hair bow in her hair. Hope that helps.

please do not trust the authenticity of an offense listed on a perp flyer on the sex offender registry......they are FAR from the real deal and whole story.......just sayin

Do we know if they have cleared the SO's with the dna from Somer? I thought i had read that they cleared the so's in a 5 mile area of her home and that was early in the investigation....if the dna hasn't come back yet..maybe they will know more.

I posted a link a while back that stated on 10/22 the parole and probation agents supervising RSO's went and made checks on them. It specifically stated SO's under supervision. I don't think you stay on supervision all of your life so I wonder whether or not all RSO's were checked immediately. I also was a little concerned that the parole and probation officers did the checks and not LE. No offense to any parole or probation officers-I know they are way over worked and way under paid.

ORANGE PARK – Sheriff Rick Beseler wants people in Clay County to know there is reason to be “vigilant and careful” until the person responsible for the murder of 7-year-old Somer Thompson is found.

“There’s someone out there, and there’s nothing to guarantee that won’t happen again,” Beseler said after a news conference on Wednesday, Oct. 28. “We don’t know if we have another Ted Bundy out there.”

Good Friday afternoon Sluthers. I am reading to catch up; when I read this quote, something came to mind. Not having closely followed all the directions explored already.... I am tossing this out. If already covered... just keep moving forward.
The reference to Bundy... brought the thougth ..... have the Sluther's looked an any similar (and possibly recent - say past 2 or 3 years) of other female children abductions/murders in the Jax area. Was anything found that cross references anything (name/relationship) that you have found in your efforts on Somer's death?

On the use of names ...

When I was creating Who's Who for other cases, I was given some guidelines. I hope this will help somewhat.

NEVER post name of minor even if mentioned in mainstream media. Initials only. If there is an exception it would be Somer's siblings' first names since they are common knowledge and are posted regularly in media. Still better to use initials here.

IF an adult has been mentioned in public records or mainstream media, you can use their first and last name.

I did sometimes choose to use first name and last initial if, for example, I felt someone was making a one-time comment about the situation but I did also provide link to source. I can't really explain how I decided to use that for one person and not for another.

You are safe saying Joe S. and providing a link because then people can go see for themselves what the name is and note it for future reference.

If you feel safer using initials, do it, but note that it does get confusing if there are people with same initials so you can always give a description ST (dad) and ST (twin).

I didn't get the vacant house because they had a white van with the two guys in the white suits on standing outside on the opposite side of the dumpster, looking at me as I was driving by ever so slowly... I didn't have the brass bra on to stop & take their picture....... I was skeered Actually I was shocked to see them at the house - I thought they were finished & had turned the house back over to the home owners. They had the back door to the van open fwiw

Usually a complete list of convictions is listed for any convict not just RSO's.

Yeah, there were county police across at the park last night. I should get over there around 6 this evening, hopefully there won't be anyone there. I might try parking down near the apartments and walking up.

AC is NOT his child. Wonder why he would say " TWO of my other children"--like he had one or more children whom he would leave with their mother? I wonder if he was misquoted by the reporter and actually said, "my two other children" instead of "two of my other children."

Wish I could remember exactly where I heard that AC did not live with his mother, but I know for certain that I did either hear it or read it on this board.

You are right. AC is not his biological child; however, based on age of AT (10), Samuel was AC's father from the age of 3 (and in his life before that) for at least the next 7 years (estimating since kids lived with him in 2006) and in that respect he was AC's dad. IMO

I believe in Samuel's heart, AC was his child too.

ETA: I have not seen AC's biological father stepping up and being concerned about the safety of his son.

IMO, Samuel Thompson IS AC's dad ... maybe not biological, but he is his dad.

I think this is a picture of a daycare center that is on Smith St., near McIntosh, which is in the triangle, near the AA and the gas station where the clerk noticed the suspicious maroonish van hanging out that morning & next door to another elementary school (Orange Park Elementary).

She had a jumpsuit.
Her older half brother has sorta long hair -- almost touching shoulders from the funeral pics. Not sure what the current hair style is for boys though.

I took the reference to Teb Bundy to mean a possible offender that crosses state lines in search of his victim - Bundy went coast to coast and comitted crimes that at first were never linked to each other because LE in different states never communicated about their cases. So I think he means this offeder could be dangerous as he my be a drifter of some sort who travels far to find his victims in order not to be linked.

I thought the reference was simply to say that community possibly has someone dangerous, possibly a serial killer, who blends well into the community amongst them.
