Thanks MommaD
I didn't know the FBI on the show was retired and not working on Somer's case. That does make me take the info with a grain of salt..

I did however come across this though...

In this article John Walsh states "The Sheriff and I both feel it is a predator who has probably done it before."

Now I have no idea how much actual info the Sheriff would share with John Walsh but he seems to speaking for him as well with these words..

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/somer-thompson-killer-serial-child-predator/story?id=8915179

I hope everyone knows I just didn't want anyone to feel that fbi guy was on Somer's case personally...

I am sure he has heard and read that john walsh said this. and I might take john walsh's word for it but he is getting things twisted on cases also on his amw site.. I have noticed . its either his site twisted things or Le from the cases. I don't know which..

I can't remember the sheriff saying anything on this tho. wish one of the reporters would ask the sheriff..

I watched the Today Show video and the reporter who was standing outside said, the deputies are following FBI experts who think the person who took Somer has done this before and will probably do it again.(2:32)

What he means by Following the FBI experts, is anyone's guess, and how he even knows this is again anyone's guess.

Thank you very much.Does anyone know if there were any missing or unsolved children murdered around this time period or for a few years in Orlando florida?

Ms Suzanne, in the link that I believe Noway has reproduced a few posts above, I listed all of the girls missing anywhere in Florida up through 13 yrs old from the 70's on. Some on the list are still missing, while others are now unsolved homicides because at some points their remains were found. The only girls not on the list would be abducted/murdered children who were tied to a perpetrator who was convicted for their disappearance - and family abductions where there seemed to be no question that the non-custodial parent took the girl.

Geesh! 90% of this case seems to be anyone's guess since they aren't giving us enough info to narrow anything down. So frustrating!

Yes, and I also feel so sorry for people living there in the area.. this person could strike an adult as well as a child .. we have no way of knowing.. everyone there please just watch carefully when you go out even to mail box or car ...

I really don't believe rso or so have a special person . just little ones are probably easier to snatch.. so sad..

you hear about older women (in 70's and 80's) getting assaulted.. who can see having sex with an older lady or little child... and some of these men have been in their 20's to do this.. and then older men..

just sick just sick..

The hunt goes on
Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler and the FBI do not have a suspect and have declined to release whatever information they have, including the results of Somer’s autopsy. But Diena Thompson and her lawyer, Mike Freed, said they are confident that the killer will be caught. FBI investigators have said that they fear that the suspect has done this before and, if not caught, will do it again.

I guess Wikipedia is up to date then!

LOL, I"m not sure. The population numbers for OP on the police website are from 2006. Unless they've made major cuts, they have more than 6 officers though.

But from what I can tell, James Boivin is the Chief there still.

Is anyone having trouble with this thread? Maybe it's my computer but it's taking a long time for my posts to go through. I will reboot and see if that helps.

I feel DT saying they are confident the killer will be caught is misleading also. most family of crime victims say this.. is it true they feel this or are they playing nice with LE.?? It is hard to tell at first then the truth comes out later if no killer found..

It is wrong to promise an arrest if can't follow through , I feel anyway..
and this is what LE is saying really.. like a promise to catch the killer.. I don't feel its right..

and I hope the killer doesn't do it again ...

Did you catch at the beginning of the Today Show, the reporter said pink was Somer's favorite color? I thought it was purple.

imoo I think she is addressing the killer... kinda like a "we're gonna get you" kind of thing and at the same time a sort of mantra.... to help herself keep focused in that belief despite the amount of time it has been since she went missing and her little body was found.

My mantra... please don't let this be another Neveah B. Case....

ETA: the reason for the mantra... because I sense it slipping there... and I seriously have my doubts this will be solved soon... but we gotta keep the faith right?

I do not think LE can say Blogger's are entirely to blame, it seems to me that LE has made a few mistakes along the way, ie Deputy putting wrong address re Robbery, CWG on MPR etc.
