yes she has another baby ..just a few months ago as I recall as well. She said so on the stand. The one burning question so many have is how she could have trusted Tracey with another child. This was not a one off. Ney the grandfather said Uriel was over at least 3-4 times per week...again under oath on the stand. And Rebecca the other daughter bringing over her 12 year old to go shopping and other errands later in the day with Tracey. Even with a 12 year old I would not have trusted Tracey alone with my child.

MOO, it also looks like people might have their own strong personal opinions. Facial expressions are interesting. The courtroom was packed, and I imagine it will be more so on April 3, 2025 for mitigation and sentencing.

I agree. MOO it is too much responsibility being unloaded unto their aging parents in their late 60s. Sure, grandparents should get to spend time with the grandkids, but I'm not sure using them for long periods of time is respecting that they're older and might tire more easily.

agree with all of this and I see this parenting all the time where kids are spending a lot of time with grand parents...however someone here has to be accountable for the death of this child. Sure daughter used extreme poor judgement but it was Tracey that left that child in the car. The jury might be thinking same about the daughter. Also Ney was around Tracey a lot of the time and someone should have noticed something was really off with her. Uriel was in that car not for a few minutes but hours. For the average thinking person of any age if you forget something major in the car normally something clicks and you remember fairly soon. I think the jury got it right.

I was shocked when I read this was the second grandchild to die in Tracey's care, the story seems so unreal. If I understand correctly, both were her daughter Kaila Nix's children? There were no charges filed in 2021 when 16 month old Ezra died by drowning in a pond.

Sadly, Kaila must have trusted Tracey and considered Ezra's death to be forgivable. I think I could forgive, but never, ever, trust again. Certainly never allow the child to be cared for alone, even if it was my own Mom. This is such a heartbreaking tragedy.

It truly is a heartbreaking tragedy. Keeping in mind that Kaila and her husband are the victims here, I have a theory about why Kaila may have allowed Tracey to watch Uriel. I regularly read on a website where people post about situations in which they wonder if they’ve made the right decision to refuse or agree to a request.

It’s often the case that they have been pressured by family and friends to accommodate someone when their instincts say a loud “No!” Statements such as “You need to keep the peace,” or “You don’t treat family this way,” or “It was an accident. You shouldn’t punish her.” So I can see that Kaila was perhaps strongly pressured to give her mother another chance. Such pressure can make you doubt your instincts and give in, especially within a family. If things went well the first time or two Tracey watched Uriel, perhaps it seemed unlikely history would repeat itself. As my DH’s grandmother used to say after something unpleasant happened, “Well, that will never happen again.” Unfortunately, it did.

I don’t think any of us can categorically state that we would be able to resist this kind of pressure and it’s certainly understandable if Kaila gave in if she was strongly pressured this way. She loves her mother and she wouldn’t want to hurt her and divide the family. In retrospect, it wasn’t a wise decision, but I can understand why it happened at the time. Situations aren’t as black or white as we make them out to be. And I do wonder if Kaila’s Dad was supposed to be involved in making sure everything was going OK.

Thank you Lilibet, I always respect your opinions and input. The site you read on sounds very interesting. However, I can categorically state I would not ever leave another child with her, regardless of pressure from others.

I don't believe there was intentional neglect or malice on Tracey's part, that's exactly why I could never trust in her ability to care for a child again. I hope everyone in this family heals and finds joy again.

There are so many stories going round out there about both Ezra and Uriel and their death and cause that unless I heard it in court I am not trusting any report.

no links ...lots of local media coverage online and many have differing accounts. I did see the doctors and experts testifying about all the prescribed drugs so I know that to be true. Her husband got her to in patient evaluation after the second death as she could not even discuss it...again that was reported in many local media sites..enough to think it is true. Another rumor out there was daughter chose to not press charges after Ezra's death...not the case at all per most reports now that there was not enough evidence to charge anyone and dad was involved in care that day too.

In their post-conviction interview, it almost sounded like they want to now get some justice for their first child's death - sounded like they are working with the district attorney's office regarding the first death.

I agree... i see so many people having their aging parent's care for their children - people who have good jobs and could afford child care. It can be an expectation for some people. I work with people in fact where both parent's make 6 figures and complain that they have to pay for child care when their parent's could take care of their child or children. Like what...
I'm not saying that's happening here though as we do not have a consistent story.
I have done a 180 in this case and believe that the jury got it right.

Good points all and I do think some pressure from family...however I make a distinction between letting Tracey back into Uriel's life and relying on her for child care. If Ney is to be believed on the stand Tracey was watching the child often. They could have included her in lots of fun family events and day to day life but totally relying on her for child care after the first death I think for me anyway would not be an option.

yes that is what it sounded like...there is a lot of confusion on the decision not to charge on that death and Kaila said she was not fully informed at the time about reasons to go ahead vs not.
