The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder-suicide that occurred on September 4 in a Valrico neighborhood. Deputies responded after a 28-year-old man called, claiming he had done something bad and expressing remorse. When officers arrived at the Crystal Carbon Way home, there was no response, but a subsequent call from the victim’s employer prompted a welfare check. Inside, deputies found the 61-year-old father dead from blunt force trauma and the son dead from a self-inflicted gunshot, with a firearm nearby. Sheriff Chad Chronister described the incident as an unimaginable tragedy and urged those struggling to seek help from resources like the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay.
