Luis Toledo won’t testify as Deltona triple-murder trial approaches end
ST. AUGUSTINE — Luis Toledo, the Deltona man accused of killing his wife and her two children, declined to testify on Wednesday at his triple-murder trial.
Closing arguments are scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center and the jury is expected to begin deliberations on Friday morning.

The prosecution wrapped up its case Wednesday morning with Sabrina Newell, who said she was Suarez’s best friend. She recounted getting a jailhouse phone call in May 2015 from Toledo.
Toledo spent the call recounting how he discovered his wife was having an affair and how he confronted her.
When Newell asked him what happened that night, referring to when the family vanished, Toledo did not give up any details.

The defense then called Tyshawn Jackson, who was Toledo’s neighbor. Jackson testified earlier that Toledo had woken him up shortly after 6 a.m. on Oct. 23, 2013 and asked him to help him move Suarez’s car.

Defense attorney Jeff Deen questioned Jackson. Jackson had told police that Toledo had been wearing a black shirt, black pants and black boots until he dropped him off at a 7-Eleven in Deltona after moving Suarez’s car.
But Deen said police told Jackson that didn’t make sense, because the black clothes and boots were found packed down at the bottom of a dumpster in Seminole County.
Jackson told investigators that Toledo could have possibly driven back.
