The apartment they're at right now is NOT that apartment. I'm assuming (my assumption!) that the apartment he was just barricaded in is his family's apartment, seeing as he's a US citizen. The cop at the presser said they removed family out of the apartment before the confrontation with the suspect.

Thank you for the clarification. I made the assumption that it was the apartment that ZL and suspect occupied but, your explanation makes more sense.
