I wonder if she went on her own after she didn't get an answer to the text she sent in a different language at 2:39 and he didn't answer the phone when she called minutes later at 2:42 and 2:52?
Yes, that can happen, but it is very unusual to walk 20 minutes in FL heat just because your friend is not answering.

Yes, normally I would wholeheartedly agree and I'm not sure if you're here or not but the weather has been beautiful, much lower humidity than normal, breezy, everyone's doing outdoor things before the humidity comes back. Also, she had an umbrella to block the sun.

In the list of who was texting who and who was calling who I didn't see a text or call come in from HA's number to DB UNLESS the text ZL sent earlier to NB was really HA on ZL's phone. Maybe she became suspicious and that's why she texted ZL back in a language they would understand but HA wouldn't. She got no answer, she called no answer, called again no answer and started to worry and decided to go over there.

I don't know that that's what happened but it seems possible. Why would she have texted him in their native language? Anyway this is all JMO, MOO. Could be something else entirely happened.

That is a real possibility. I hope that HA would at least reveal everything in court. It also show that NB was probably aware of the violent nature of HA, which made her worried.

I can't shake off the thought that had this lady just put her phone to silence for that two hours, she would have live today. Such an ill fate.

According to his brother he was aware, and reported it. How sad and frustrating 😢:

According to Limon’s brother, the victim was not close to Abugharbieh but had made others aware of the suspect’s behavior before his death.
This included the Avalon Heights off-campus student housing center, where Limon and Abugharbieh lived with another roommate.

“He barely [knew] Hisham Abugharbieh, but he always informed us that his roommate is kind of unsocial, unpleasant and sort of psychopathic behavior, and he and another roommate, Indian roommate, Rashid filed a complaint against him,” Ahmed said. “It’s very unfortunate or unbelievable that Avalon Heights didn’t consider it seriously or took necessary steps.”

And new information about what prompted the DV call the morning he was arrested. I didn't expect this to be the reason ugh

Sickening. If only he'd been in a facility much sooner, there wouldn't be these victims. The younger relative in this link could be permanently traumatized from this incident -- yet another victim.

Ive just been catching up how very sad. Two beautiful humans taken from this world.

I do wonder if Chat GPT (and others like it) should be able to flag to law enforcement some of these searches especially when the internet search happens nearby the location of a missing persons case.

It never fails to amaze me how many murderers use the internet soon after murdering somebody - do they not realise that becomes very incriminating evidence?
I also wish ChatGPT would be more involved in flagging potential danger or potential evidence of a crime committed. I read this article where multiple employees were aware of Jesse Van Rooselaar’s chats (who recently committed a mass shooting) and were asking to alert authorities, but were ultimately told not to by supervisors. Of course it could be argued that there’s a privacy concern, but I personally have no expectation of privacy while online. If they’re reading the chats, why not report to LE?

Slightly off-topic, but still related as HA used ChatGPT for seemingly similar reasons.

I'm at least glad to see in the article that they're attempting to tighten the reins (at least I think Altman is saying that). I looked up Anthropic's policies and it looks like they have built or are refining a method for the llm to report out to human beings on staff (yes they still have those) conversations (with Claude) that may be problematic. Getting a handle on AI is really important in a lot of ways right now.

The brother of Zamil Limon says Limon filed a complaint against his roommate, Hisham Abugharbieh, for his "psychopathic behavior" before Limon's murder. The victims' families claim the concerns were not taken seriously by Limon's housing facility.

“I miss everything about him: his smile, his anger, his fight with me,” said Limon’s brother, Zubaer Ahmed. “I remember everything. Yeah. I just wanted to know people that he is very hardworking, kind and full of dreams.”

Newly released court documents are shedding disturbing light on the deaths of two University of South Florida doctoral students and the investigation that led detectives to a suspect.

The Brief

    • Court documents reveal a former USF student allegedly used AI to search about disposing a body days before his roommate and fellow PHD student disappeared.
    • Investigators used cellphone data, license plate readers, and vehicle tracking to locate one victim’s body in Tampa Bay.
    • Families are now raising questions about safety and oversight at the off-campus apartment complex.

The victims’ families requested that Bristy and Limon’s remains be “handled in accordance with Islamic rituals and funeral requirements,” asking that the university help make sure it is done.

The families also called for legal action against Avalon Heights. In the statement, they said the complex lacked “proper CCTV camera” coverage and had inadequate security to protect residents. Avalon Heights was further accused of assigning a roommate to Limon without proper background checks or informing them of relevant concerns.

“It’s very difficult for international students or students in general to check everyone’s background,” Ahmed said.

The victims’ families said they want to have Bristy and Limon’s personal belongings and finances returned and transferred to their families in Bangladesh. They also requested that a memorial be established in their names to help prevent such tragedies in the future.
