So funny, when I was in Florida, I went to patients homes. One guy, his house was similar to yours, I go inside, the place is an explosion of PINK and Ruffles, lace, dolls, China, everywhere. I asked him if that stuff belonged to his wife...nope, he bought the property with ALL of the contents. And he never bothered to change anything! Must have been some inheritance, and the folks didn't want the stuff, so they sold everything in the house.

Pink lace bedspread, with dolls and stuffed animals. Pink dishes. Pink kitchen. Pink sofa. It was super crazy. And I love the guy who bought it, he just moved in, didn't change a thing!
That’s exactly what families do! They literally sell “as is.” And there are multiple buyers! My house is still pink outside because I haven’t had it painted yet. (Maybe I’ll get another stimulus check...) The carpet was pink, the drapes were pink, the walls were covered in 1980’s deco, the furniture was white wicker. Holy crap it was ugly. I gutted it. The before and after.

Florida reported another 2,610 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday morning and saw its coronavirus death toll rise over 3,000. Those numbers come one day after the state set a record with 2,783 new cases.

Florida is now up to 82,719 total cases and 3,018 deaths associated with COVID-19, according to the latest data released by the health department.
......
Of the people tested for the first time Tuesday in Florida, 10.3% were positive for COVID-19. Over the past two weeks, that positivity rate has fluctuated between around 3-7%.
.......
Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday said the state is “not shutting down” and will push forward with reopening, citing hospital vacancy and chalking up the higher daily case numbers to increased testing.
.......
Florida’s agriculture commissioner Nikki Fried slammed DeSantis over the state’s response.

“Today’s record-high new cases makes it clear: Governor DeSantis has lost control of Florida’s COVID-19 response,” Fried, a Democrat, said in a statement of the Republican governor. "His policies are simply not working, and he’s recklessly reopening Florida despite the data screaming for caution. Refusing to acknowledge the alarming patterns in cases, hospitalizations, and positivity is not only arrogant, but will cost lives, public health, and our economy.

“To our citizens, I implore you to wear masks and continue social distancing – and just because a place is open, doesn’t mean it’s safe to go there. To our local governments, please encourage your residents to stay home, mask up, and socially distance. If the Governor is unwilling to make the right decisions, then they must be made in our cities, our states, and our homes.”

100% driven by tourist dollars. It’s always about the money, not lives. Just like that bunch of young people that all went to a bar soon after the lockdown They’re all sick. How many have they spread that to? That “hotspot” should be tracked and promoted as an example to young adults. My two 20 somethings haven’t been out running the streets. It’s not that they don’t want to go hang out. They recognize it’s in the best interest of the community not to. Even without me being a cancer patient, I don’t think they’d go bar hopping right now.

They sound like responsible young adults...good job mom!

Wish more would be like them.

Exactly what we expected. The positive tests are outpacing everything. You can't hold back a freight train.

Coronavirus cases are spiking across the US and experts say Florida has the makings of the next epicenter - CNN
Florida has "all the markings of the next large epicenter of coronavirus transmission," and risks being the "worst it has ever been," according to Wednesday's projections from a model by scientists at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.

"The potential for the virus to take off there is very, very nerve-racking and could have catastrophic consequences" because of the state's aging population and the prevalence of nursing homes and retirement communities, Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, director of the division of infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, told CNN on Thursday.

Florida joins nine other states -- Alabama, Arizona, California, Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina and Texas -- that are seeing record-high seven-day averages of new coronavirus cases per day, according to a CNN analysis of data from Johns Hopkins University.

Other politicians have also attributed higher case numbers to increased testing, but Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, chair of the department of medical ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania, said surges are outpacing testing.

"When you see 50% or 150% increase in the number of cases you are seeing -- which is what we are seeing across the South -- that's not testing. That's new cases. That's community spread," he said.
Texas also reported a record-high number of daily Covid-19 hospitalizations on Monday, with 2,326.

Florida recorded nearly 2,800 new coronavirus cases on Monday -- its highest number of new and confirmed cases in a single day, according to the Florida Department of Health.

But Gov. Ron DeSantis said the state will not shut down. The governor attributed the spike in cases to increased testing as well as outbreaks in prisons, agricultural communities and long-term care facilities.

Hi, just visiting your thread from the Alabama thread. Lol.

I was in Panama City Beach the first week of June, I saw only three people wearing masks the whole time I was there. Not much social distancing going on either.

Back in Alabama people are back wearing masks as our numbers are going up too.

Sadly, Florida was a bad situation from the very start. They had all the “markings” very early on, moo, as documented in these threads.

These people are delusional. We have been watching the Florida numbers (shell game), and KNEW that opening up everything there was going to be a disaster.

Oh, surprise...NOT, Florida is having a "problem". Hello, it was ALWAYS a "problem". They just ignored it.

Exactly.

And I am visiting from the Arizona thread! Hello to everyone :)

We are witnessing Jaws (the water is fine), and the Twilight Zone (Pandemic? What Pandemic?!), rolled into one heck of a roller coaster ride.

And here in AZ, our ICU beds are at 84%. And the rate is NOT going down, sigh. Good luck & Stay Safe ya'll!

And now they’ve created a PR nightmare and must do damage control. Tell another lie to cover up another lie. Florida stats are bogus, we know it and have long suspected it, and now, the entire state & country & world knows.

Just had to quote your post from almost a month ago!

I hope mayors in the rest of the state will quickly follow suit, since Governor DeSantis is too busy taking pages from the Trump “there’s nothing to see here, folks” playbook. :(

That doesn't seem to be working. I am still trying to find aggregate death rates. Apparently that information is harder to find than the nuclear codes.
