My uncle taught me to make a spaghetti squash dish tonight. I’ve never really liked it because to me, it’s bland. But this was delicious. Now I know what I’ll make!

He cooked 1 lb of sweet Italian sausage. He used a little olive oil and there wasn’t a need to drain it. It was very lean. In another skillet he sautéed a green pepper, an onion, 1 teaspoon crushed garlic and 3 stalks of celery. When that was done, he added a can of diced tomatoes with green chilis and the cooked sausage.

He put the spaghetti squash in water and baked it 40 min. He pulled the squash out of its shell, mixed all the ingredients together. We sprinkled Parmesan cheese on it.

I had the same experience with spaghetti squash when I tried it a few years back, it was bland and tasteless. But this recipe sounds so good, think I’m going to try it.
Thank you Payroll!

Just picked up my veggies. Wow they gave me a lot. There was only 1 car in front of me. It started at 10:30 and I got there at 10:32! I hope they helped lots of people early. Sometimes they do when the line gets long.

I’ve found a home for the little bananas that we don’t care for. Another friend will take the mushrooms and some tomatoes. I think the little carton of watermelon is too far gone. It’s in the sink because it’s leaking and I’m allergic to it.

No idea what I’m going to do with the now 8 bottles of hand sanitizer!! Maybe I’ll put a few in the Little Red Pantry at the bus stop.

I love turkey but where do you buy turkey tenderloin??
The food bank gave me the turkey tenderloin. It looked like turkey breast without bone to me. I’d look near the chicken section at the grocery store. The chubs of marinated pork tenderloin are the same size. Maybe they’d be there or near the Jenni-O products. I’m not sure. I just got back from Publix and they had ground turkey for $3.99!! I was so excited I bought 2!

I'll echo what PN said about Jennie-O turkey products. We get a 3# carton of ground turkey at least once a month and wrap in 1# or 1.5# packages for turkey burgers, meatballs, or meatloaf. We haven't seen the Jennie-O turkey slices or tenderloins for quite a while, but we had these frequently when they were available. You could also ask at the meat counter if they have whole boneless turkey breast or rolled turkey breast that is a whole, boneless turkey breast tightly wrapped with oven-proof banding. When the turkey roll is done roasting, you remove the elastic banding and are left with a perfectly roasted rolled turkey breast that slices easily into 8-12 portions.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've made beef stroganoff, chicken paprikash, chili, and chicken pot pie. Today I'm making black bean soup. We plan to go to Picano's tomorrow for "Fat Tuesday". Starting tomorrow and throughout Lent, Picano's has a BOGO on Tuesday and Wednesday (one dinner at full price, second dinner half price), and on Thursday wines by the bottle are half off or 25% off bottles over $60. The specials are a throwback to the days when many folks, Catholics especially, didn't go out to dinner during Lent. The discounted dinners and wine encourage patrons to come in during Lent. Due to the pandemic, Picano's hasn't done this for the past two years, but we are happy to see it again.

Butterball, Jennie-o, Shady Brook all carry/carried a Turkey Tenderloin product, but many Producers have pulled items from their production schedules due to employee storages and demands for other more popular items that require employees on the lines. My best suggestion if you can not find in the grocery store, is your local butcher shop. Many will be happy to make one for you as they can utilize the other parts in the store.

When I posted a link for Chicken Kiev a few days ago, I meant to include that it would be on our menu sometime this week. I remember having Chicken Kiev in a restaurant in Toronto many years ago. It was delicious and doesn't seem too difficult to make. Homemade Chicken Kiev Recipe | Food Network Kitchen | Food Network
I was reading this the other day when you posted about it. Sounds tasty! I was asking my uncle what herbs I should plant. He mentioned tarragon. I can’t ever remember hearing about it. I had no idea what it was used for.

I have signed up with a program that delivers food to our house. I am so over shopping, thinking, cooking. It is "Blue Apron". I will keep you posted. Apparently, all of the ingredients are sent with the recipes in a box. Should be interesting.

Please let us know your opinion---I have given much thought to signing
up for a meal.program but have been hesitant to do it. Hope it
works for you.

We tried something similar years ago. But they couldn’t accommodate our food allergies. I used it once and stopped it. I had been referred by a friend with a discount for my first order. I can see the convenience is quite handy.

Yeah. I don't know. We don't have food allergies, my husband is just super picky. Maybe this will be something new. I just need a break.

We must have had the same conversation with our respective spouses :D I told DH last week that I was tired of planning meals and menus, making grocery lists, prepping and cooking most days of the week. DH likes to cook, but I feel like the burden of meal planning and preparation is on me. During the pandemic, we've continued once-a-week takeout, but we are limited with local options. One of the restaurants on our regular rotation is closing, and we have no idea what the new Mexican place will be like. We like PF Chang's, Alibi, and Jets, but these options have become boring. Due to the pandemic, we've rarely gone to restaurants for the better part of two years. We could go out to eat more and not have to worry so much about always cooking, but with mask and social distancing mandates in the history books, I don't know if restaurant dining is the best option. I've perused some of the meal delivery services, but they seem pricy for what you get and require a lot of freezer space that we don't have. I will look forward to your reviews of Blue Apron.

I’ve considered that option, I am tired of shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning up afterwards too. I used to enjoy cooking but with everything else that is going on - I just want easy and tasty. Lol
