Tawny, I agree with what you are saying. These are people who have had a rough life, been judged and disregarded for years. They haven't been educated about their rights or privileges. Therefore, I can't judge them against how I or any other poster on Websleuths would react in a situation. It's apples and oranges, completely different scenarios.
Yes, but remember you are educated and know what your legal rights are. I'm sure you have many resources and support that this family doesn't . This family was scorned and reviled by many, hardly a situation that promotes the ability to be your own (or your child's ) assertive advocate.
Missy, thanks for your reply and being so open! I could be totally wrong as well, and have not done anywhere near the amount of research that you have. I don't have a strong opinion about Barb one way or the other at this point.
That is basically where I am at with Barb too, missy, in regards to bias. I just didn't think she came across as having Brendan's best interest AT ALL as a mother should have, throughout MaM. I realize that she is not that educated and probably was overwhelmed with everything going on, but I question why her momma bear instincts did not kick in at any point. Even if I did not have the legal right, if my child was facing what Brendan was, as missy said, I would have been screaming from the rooftops about not letting him be questioned without me present. I also did not get the feeling that Barb was all that invested in Brendan, when I was listening to Steven's phone calls from jail to his family. Considering how bad Kachinsky was (telling the public he's guilty before even meeting Brendan) even an uneducated person could recognize that kid needed legal assistance, let alone being his mother. I can see what everyone is saying about not judging her because of her education and class standing, etc...but I just wanted to put my :twocents: in that I have the same bias in regards to Barb I can't get past.

It's great to see a visual of how far the bus driver actually was or said she was when she saw TH. I think the majority after seeing the distance just didn't believe she could see that far, it's good to know the majority was probably right LOL It's terrible to know that they used her "statement" against BD in his first interview. 'ohhh Brendan, but you must have seen her because the bus driver said she saw her and all the kids on the bus said they saw her'
(btw I love the name of the new sub and find it very fitting, hehe) And I agree, as far as the distance goes....that is ridiculous!! I do not understand why neither SA nor BD atty's did that same experiment to show the jury just how ridiculous that eye witness account was. Grrrr!
