Found Deceased France - Émile S., 2, outside grandparent’s house, Le Vernet, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, 8 July 2023 *arrest* #2

From the article "The prosecutor clarified today that the line of inquiry involving the family was just 'one among others', while noting that the family trail has 'not yet been closed"

Just curious if the clothes near him were not the ones he disappeared in were they actually his clothing?

Maybe the arrest was to get them talking amongst themselves and hoping to find some evidence that way, through phone taps and covert surveillance.

I just hope that the family isn't involved in any way... It would make this whole case even more tragic imo..

Although the police custody has been lifted and "this phase is over," the prosecutor warned that the possibility of a crime within the family had not been "definitively" ruled out. In fact, nothing is completely ruled out, since "the case is not over" and "the investigators and investigating judges remain determined" to find out what happened to the boy, he insisted.

According to Valentin Doyen, a journalist specialising in the case, the child's family do not believe it was a solo accident. Speaking on BFMTV, the reporter stated that Emile was afraid of the tall grass and was afraid to venture out alone.

Affaire Émile : l'enquête démontre que le grand-père a déjà été violent avec ses enfants

"Taken into police custody on March 25 and released 48 hours later, Émile's relatives were questioned about the reprimands his grandfather may have used against his children, BFMTV has learned.
While Émile's relatives, including his grandfather, were released this Thursday, March 27, after nearly 48 hours in police custody, it is now accepted that Philippe Vedovini has been violent towards his children, BFMTV has learned from concordant sources.

The priest Father Gilliot who recently died "officiated" at Aix-en-Provence; he's not I think been connected with Le Haut Vernet, except through the Vedovinis?

I'm not clear at which church was the planter box. I think they are saying it was the church in Le Haut Vernet, not at the tiny chapel out in the field? So just down the hill from the grandparents' place, very close to where Emile was last seen.

Was there a full-time priest in Le Haut Vernet who was present when Emile disappeared? I am thinking perhaps Father Gilliot received a confession from another priest.

''Despite this, a surprise public row between them sparked after Father Gilliot attempted to help police find the boy when he was missing.

The priest provided a picture of Emile to the media to help the desperate search for the two-year-old.
Phillipe and Gilliot hurled insults at each other as the Vedovini family swiftly boycotted the priest's chapel.
The priest often shared his angst during the ordeal, and it emerged today that he allegedly "took his own life" last Saturday week at his home in Aix-en-Provence.''

I’m not familiar with the French justice system, so I’m not understanding the arrests only not to have enough evidence to hold or charge them.

The location of the chapel in The Sun's map does not accord with Google Maps. Google Maps

The skull was found with signs of 'violent facial trauma' on one side, Mr Bachon said at the press conference on Thursday.

They are yet to establish whether the blow was carried out by an object or a fist, according to Le Parisien, but suggestion of third party involvement has become a major line of inquiry.

I would like to know, what the flower planter could have had to do with Emile, if his body possibly was stored in a fridgerator for some time, being sterile (!!), until it was staged at the last location. Well, there was blood found on the planter, but why?
I would like to know, why a priest and a grandpa (originally befriended) could have had a serious dispute over a photo of a missing child, given to police. It doesn't make sense for me. There must be more to the grandpa and/or the priest or both, MOO.
I would like to know, since when they did know each other.
I would like to know, why other members of the school, where the sex abuse scandal happened, were convicted and dismissed from school, when PV wasn't. Is he the smartest manipulator and got free or was he indeed "innocent"?
I would like to know, where the/a fridgerator was installed and if it got transported with a horsetrailer from A to B sometime without noticing by anybody.

Has it ever been revealed which photo was given by the priest to LE, wondering if it was the one with ES wearing a flower?
If so, and if there was indeed blood on a planter/flower pot, the anger about the pic. might be understandable.....
Speculation, imo.

I don't understand quite well: why do you think, THIS photo (IF given to police) might be a reason for some severe disput? I know, that you always have logical thinking, and it will be me, who can't follow exactly.

It's because it's a boy with a flower in his hair.

I hadn't thought of it before but there are some people who would not like their son being seen like this.

Closing a town, blocking people from entering and controlling who and when goes out doesn't scream "little kid wandered off" to me.

I really cannot imagine anyone would object to a two year old being seen with a flower behind his ear.

All hypothetical, but if for example, somebody wanted to give a hint about where a missing person might be, or what happened to them, they might consciously or subconsciously, give authorities a 'telling' photo.
In this case, if the planter story is true, a pic. of a flower in a boy's hair might suggest something about what occurred...leading to a dispute.
speculation, imo. fwiw.
