Has it ever been revealed which photo was given by the priest to LE, wondering if it was the one with ES wearing a flower?
If so, and if there was indeed blood on a planter/flower pot, the anger about the pic. might be understandable.....
Speculation, imo.

The flower appears to be a dandelion, there are dandelions in the field in the background.

And what about the mark on his lip, it could have been caused by being punched, hit or slapped.
Maybe that photo is the one the priest gave the police.

'Meanwhile, crime reporter, Damien Delseny, for Le Parisien said that investigators believe the remains also could have been partially stored in a 'so-called sterile place', like a 'freezer a cupboard... In any case, something that is sheltered from bad weather'.

I'm not so sure it is chocolate.

I would like to know, what the flower planter could have had to do with Emile, if his body possibly was stored in a fridgerator for some time, being sterile (!!), until it was staged at the last location. Well, there was blood found on the planter, but why?
(snipped)
It is beginning to sound like the flower planter had nothing to do with Emile; that the blood proved not to be his.

Mr Bachon also revealed a set back in the investigation, as a blood-coated planter found near the Saint Martin chapel the Sunday prior 'did not contain any evidence likely to advance the investigations'.

But there is no evidence that Philippe treated Émile in the same way.

But there is no evidence that Philippe treated Émile in the same way.
He slapped kids in the church, slapped and punched his own children, but somehow spared Emile, whose remains, by the way bear injuries to his facial bones?

Yeah, no. I do not think it went that way.

New twist in Émile case? Investigators question testimony of two key witnesses

The investigation into the disappearance and death of French toddler Émile Soleil may be taking a new turn. According to the regional newspaper “La Provence,” investigators are calling into question the testimony of the two witnesses who allegedly were the last to see the toddler.

They are two neighbors of Philippe and Anne Vedovini, Émile's grandparents, with whom the toddler was staying when he disappeared July 8, 2023, in Haut-Vernet. That is a hamlet in the French department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence with about 30 inhabitants.

The two witnesses told police during their initial questioning that they had seen the toddler walking in the main street of the hamlet between 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. that day. According to one of the witnesses, Philippe was chopping wood at that time, not far away from the toddler. “I saw no cause for concern,” the witness told French news channel BFMTV in 2023. At 5:15 p.m., Émile's grandparents sounded the alarm.

Doubt
Investigators are now questioning their statements. Indeed, the two contradict each other. According to one, Émile walked in a different direction than the other.

Moreover, according to investigators, it is possible that the witnesses mistook Émile for another child, writes La Provence. Indeed, it had been a year since his previous vacation in the village that neighbors had seen the toddler. Authorities are therefore not ruling out the possibility of confusion. This could cause the investigation to take another very different turn.

I agree, but my thoughts are: Emile's parents just had brought him to his grandparents. Why should anyone, ie the grandpa, have had so much anger towards the little boy already then, when Emile so-to-say just had arrived?

With all due respect, sometimes it doesn’t take much to get someone to ‘turn’. A spilled drink, a ‘bad’ word, etc etc, unfortunately I bear the scars of such behaviour through actions such as these so I’m aware that it often doesn’t take very much at all

He was two and kids this age can be a handful. They are loud, they are everywhere with special ability to materialise exactly in your way, they have attention span of a goldfish and they love to say "no". It's all normal behaviour for a toddler but for a strict aurhoritarian adult that is infuriating. Also, abusers do not need any distinct reason to abuse. Often a bout of bad mood is enough and often the acts of abuse are displays of power.

so putting two and two together
The skull has been found
The clothes have been found
The remainder of his corpse/skeleton? Still at large?

If he was the sort of guy who drove an 84yo town priest out of his job (and into a tragic end) because of liturgical differences…

I m had the impression that in France they were targeting the family because it is very practicing Catholic, traditionalist. This family was humiliated on the RS. I am not one of those people even though I am an atheist. I think that the culprit is not in the family, but in the hamlet.

I don't believe that they searched far enough and Emile was beyond their search area. In the first thread, post #69, @dotr posted a link in which the spokesperson said that on the third day, they had searched a circumference of 5kms. That might seem like a large area until you realize that it means they searched a radius of .79 kms (1100 yds) in each direction from where he was last seen.

Like Barbara Thomas in the Mojave National Preserve. They didn't go far enough with the dogs.

dragged by an animal maybe?

Then there would be forensic evidence of that. I'm not up to speed on this case, but it sounds like they have no idea what happened (no mention of animal marks or drag marks on the skull).

The Saint Hubert dogs scored at the wash house and other dogs too: this means that the child was lifted so removed from the wash house.
