Turpin was arrested near Dunkirk earlier this month with five others, accused of being part of a ‘vast people trafficking ring' run by Albanian gangsters.

This picture, taken on Kingston beach near Deal in October last year, and salvage documents seen by the Daily Mail, suggest Turpin has been making crossings for many months. The case raises serious questions about Britain’s coastal security.

Thankyou Sophie. My fone refuses to c+p links 😣

How do the refugees afford the €10,000 (about $15,000)?

Those with money can leave Libyan shores within days. But many have to stay to pay off their debts to smugglers earlier in the route – or to save up for the onwards maritime voyage. Every weekday morning in many Libyan towns, you can see people like this gathering on certain street corners, waiting for offers of casual labour.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/20...rs-how-will-they-catch-us-theyll-soon-move-on <-- This is a great article

My other thoughts are families maybe combine money to send certain members but stay behind themselves (this happens in other countries) or maybe the refugee families still have money from before their cities were bombed. They might lose their homes and everything they owned but would still have their cash? I'm not sure but I've been wondering about this too.

How do the refugees afford the €10,000 (about $15,000)?

I really don't know. Savings maybe? Or stealing. Drug dealing/donkey. Their savings would be useless to gain entry via a port. Otherwise they'd have a more comfortable ride into the UK.
But we are an Island.... With 100s miles of coast. Impossible to secure every last km.

Mediterranean migrant smugglers: $100 a life jacket in human trade in misery from Africa and Middle East

Like the drug or arms trade, the trade in human beings is big business, estimated to be worth as much as $32bn by the UN in 2005, although the exact figure is hard to pinpoint. The IOM said as many as 70% of deaths it records refer to migrants who are missing, usually at sea. As a result, it is almost impossible to know how much they paid for their transit. Or who they paid.
...
"Syrians [...] often travel with their families, with women and children, and are part of the low to middle class of Syrian society. There are a lot of professionals among them, engineers or doctors. They have the means to pay more and smugglers know that."

...
Refugees who have survived the harrowing journey tell horror stories about the gangs that operate in the Sinai and Yemen, with widespread reports of refugees being sexually assaulted, ransomed and often sold into slavery. But though such reports are well known in the refugees' country of origin, thousands still entrust themselves to smugglers that ply these routes every month.

More at the link. It's another worthwhile read.

You know. .. it does bring me to despair. To think that in this day and age. That alot of these people like ISIS and many other Terrorist gangs are very tech and media savvy. And use the www for their munition supplies blah blah blah.
That they can act in such a barbaric primitive manner to fellow human beings. Ending their lives in such a horrific way by slitting their throats and decapitating them. To endlessly rape and humiliate the females they capture. Whether they be young single girls or married with young children. As we have seen with the Yazidi people.
I really do wonder what's wrong with them... They must be mentally regressive. Or brain dead. I just can't for the life of me get my head round the fact that WHY.....WHY would well educated, well mannered, girls. In a loving family environment. A home a career a marriage with children
Love and happiness. Old age and grandchildren. WHY would these girls give everything up. To join a Jihadist. Who will not likely be alive in a couple of months time. For them to wreak havoc on innocent victims. Killing mauling and savagely committing these atrocities. For them to so say become a Martyr. And recieve their virgins as they enter paradise. In Allah's wish.

SMDH. Anyone else find this? Or am I just inately rambling n babbling on n on... sorry I'll shhh now.

I think this is why I have so much trouble thinking of them as people. Maybe that sounds terrible. But it's like they're a virus or some kind of bacteria that keeps mutating to survive. They evolve and learn how to use media and the internet or new weapons, but they don't evolve as humans. Does that make any sense?

And then in all of that they know how to manipulate people. They know how to convince people who have good lives and families who love them to join up and do terrible things to other humans. IMO that's how they get the well-educated, well-mannered seemingly normal people. They recruit and brainwash more effectively than any cult I've ever heard of.

'Terror-alert spam targets the Middle East, Canada to spread malware

Cybercriminals spoof law enforcement officials in Dubai, Bahrain, Turkey, and Canada to send terror-alert spear-phishing emails containing Backdoor.Sockrat.'

'While the group behind this campaign mainly targeted UAE-based companies and employees, we have also seen similar spear-phishing runs targeting three other countries: Bahrain, Turkey and, more recently, Canada. Like in the Dubai campaign, the cybercriminals are also using incumbent law enforcement officials’ names in these countries to lend credibility to their fake terror alerts, which also purport to provide protective measures supposedly outlined in attached files. The group is expanding their reach and we may see new email models targeting additional countries.

At the time of writing, we can confirm that this campaign is aimed at various big companies in the Middle East and Canada. While the campaign does not target a specific type of industry, we have observed such emails sent to the following sectors: energy, defense contractor, finance, government, marketing, and IT.

With recent events such as those witnessed in Paris and Beirut just last week, terrorist attacks have become a threat across the world, and terror groups have been known to make their presence felt online too. We may yet see more of these kinds of social engineering tactics preying on real-world fears.'

Canada synagogue opens doors to Muslim worshipers after mosque arson

The heads of the Beth Israel synagogue in Peterborough, Ontario offered to share their praying space with their Muslim neighbors after the only mosque in the city was set ablaze.

A synagogue in Canada has opened its doors to the local Muslim community this week after a nearby mosque was set ablaze in a hate crime following the terror attacks in Paris earlier this month.

Paris attacks weapons 'made by Zastava Arms in Serbia

Milojko Brzakovic, director of the Zastava Arms factory, said they checked the serial numbers of around eight rifles received from police.

The M70 assault rifles were part of a batch sent to military depots in Slovenia, Bosnia and Macedonia, Mr Brzakovic told the Reuters news agency.

The Paris attacks claimed 130 lives.
Gunmen opened fire or set off bombs at seven locations during the attacks on 13 November.

"There's no doubt they were produced by us, we were the only producer then, and we have serial numbers of everything we ever produced, but in the 1990s anyone could get a hold of them in army depots," Mr Brzakovic told Reuters.
The M70 rifle is a modified Yugoslav version of the Soviet AK47.

Indeed. I mean we all have heard of Cults thru our time on this Earth. Brainwashing our young and impressionable children. Or the easily led. But generally it's a lifestyle. Living as a community. In one huge area of land. Following a charismatic Elder. Who genuinely seems to have his members who follow his every word.
But ISIS. is very much as you stated. A virus. A disease that eats away at any piece of humanity and compassion that the recruit might of once had. Even parents of these Jihadist and the wannabe brides. Don't recognise their own son/daughter.
I can't begin to fathom how the parents of these youngsters live with knowing that their child they brought into this world with love. Has just blown him/herself into smithereens. And killed dozens n maimed even more unwitting people in a busy market place.
WHY? Where in the Qur'an does Allah state thou shall kill those who don't listen or have no time for the word of Allah..... Cuz it doesn't. It actually states no life should be taken in hate. All life is to be honoured and cherished . All life is precious. In Allah's name.
So fighting a holy war is a total load of utter claptrap n BS.
As they are not using the teachings as Allah suggests.
Can people not see this when the read the Qur'an?
Do ISIS use a different Qur'an?
Or is it just borne out of hate loathing and greed.
I feel myself that it's mire often then not the latter . But please feel free to re educate me. JMO

RUSSIAN WOMEN DUPE ISIS FIGHTERS INTO SENDING MONEY AFTER CREATING FAKE PROFILES

Daily Mail
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...es-pretending-wanted-jihadi-brides-Syria.html

Islamic State fighters are being conned by Russian women who pretend they want to become their jihadi brides in a bid to extract money.
Police discovered the fraud after they arrested three young women who were found to have used social media to contact militants.
They believe the trio are just the tip of the iceberg and that there could be hundreds of cases across the country.
The women apparently came up with the idea after being contacted on Facebook by men who were trying to develop an online relationship and eventually to persuade them to join them in Syria.

Initial reports said that three girls were facing up to six years in prison but after public outrage it was revealed that the charges will probably be dropped.
Online commentators said the girls should be praised for their patriotic efforts in conning money out of the Islamic State militants and it now seems likely that officials will take no further action.
A spokesman said: 'There needs to be a complaint from the other side and it doesn't seem as though this is going to be likely.'

Truckdrivers who have to pass through Calais face a daily (and nightly) battle with the migrants living in the illegal camps.

Here is one of many dash cam videos about their ordeal. This one was made recently by a truck driver from Hungary.

France still alllows these camps, they even have been obliged to improve the facilities there, and the camps keep on growing. It beggars belief. The people who squat there are not in any danger in France, the biggest risk they run is actually by living in these camps. But they don't apply for asylum in France, they insist on going to England even though they are not wanted there.

On Wound Collectors
https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/spycatcher/201509/wound-collectors

If there is one thing I’ve learned in four decades of law enforcement work it is that there is no single reason for why people commit crimes. Everything from impulsivity, to immaturity, to hatred, to mental disorders, to socialization to whatever motive or excuse you want to use can be found and that makes predicting criminal behavior difficult.

Yet, every once in a while, when we look closely at the behavior of offenders (for our purposes this includes extremists), you begin to see commonalities. Not necessarily causality, but rather common features or behaviors that should make us take note, look closer, explore deeper, question, or consider.

One such commonality or phenomenon was written about in the book “Hunting Terrorists: A Look at the Psychopathology of Terror (link is external)” (2004 Charles C. Thomas
Publishers) and later in a blog post for Psychology Today. For this commonality often seen with extremists, terrorists, mass killers, and others, the term wound collecting was coined.

Terrorists like Abdulhamid Abaaoud, Abubakar Shekau, Abu Bakr al-Bagdadi, and Osama bin Laden are large scale injustice collectors or wound collectors. In many ways, they share common characteristics with spree killers. They rage at the world non-stop. They are resentful at the world and have a pathological need for enemies.

Wound collectors are not seen in terrorists and spree killers.

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, could it in fact be an Islamic State militant?

As world leaders scratch their heads about the best method to defeat the terror of Isis, internet users have come up with their own way to take the sting out of the group’s feathery tail.

Members of the <modsnip> group 4chan began superimposing rubber duck heads on to images of Isis fighters, setting off a craze that has spread to Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere.

This article was amended on 29 November to make clear the difference between 4chan and Reddit.
