I thought the french police were going to get him to do his cycle ride again.

I don't think he's been named. There's nothing to say he hasn't returned to England and might have to go back to France to recreate his journey though.

I don't believe Martin Brunt's suggestion that the prosecutor is going to give a statement later today about the gun(s) either. Why would he sit in a press conference and refuse to comment then give a statement a couple of hours later. No disrespect to Mr B but maybe he's having a glass of wine or too.....

Interesting he is under Surrey police protection-does that mean he has a home in Surrey-Did he have any connections to SAH in England?
I did read on another forum that he belonged to the same cycle club and knew the French cyclist who was killed.

I believe the British cyclist had a second home in that area of France.

I think I read that the RAF guy divided his time between home in France and home in England.

Trouble is we are being drip fed information from the press which keeps changing.
I am not sure that the information coming from official sources is accurate or is a smoke screen to keep press happy and to diverte from what they are really investigating.

SAH could be a very small cog in a much bigger organisation.

It was feared last night that the health of the Hillis seven-year-old daughter who survived the attack despite being shot and beaten was deteriorating and could suffer permanent brain damage.

I so really hope that this information is being given out to help protect her. Poor little girl-I hope that the sisters will be reunited soon.

She was talking a day or two ago and now they're saying she may suffer from permanent brain damage.

I wish they would leave the children alone and not report anything. As much as I would love to know that they are healthy, protected and safe, I think it's time for the media to discuss the investigation. Leave the kids alone. They are innocent victims.

IMO, the conspiracy theories will live long before we're all dead. :moo:

That "ten years" thing is either because i) the French autorities are, truthfully, baffled, or ii) the French authorities want to appear baffled and suspicions are pointing in one specific direction and such a statement has been made in order not to cause the guilty party (-ies) alarm. It seems such a bizarre statement that I'm voting for #2.

(Or I suppose there could be a #3: French authorities are aware of what happened but what happened, happened at such a level that the crime can never be solved, i.e., governments were involved.)

In other words not allowed to be solved, particularly publicly and certainly not by the local gendarmes.

Briefings by detectives suggest at least one of the victims could have had links to those working in international espionage or the criminal underworld.
Discussing the attack in general terms, another detective said: ‘Police quickly demonstrated that the victims did not correspond to the profiles of "normal tourists" and they were not assassinated in normal conditions.’

BBM. Makes you wonder how do you get assassinated under normal conditions :waitasec:
Translation snafus must be sneaking in again.

Persons with permanent brain damage are capable of talking.

I wonder about multiple glasses of French wine too. May be he is confused with hiker witness Phillippe D, whose last name was recently released as Didierjean,
