SHE says, she is "done with him". HE says, he doesn't know about a new male person in his wife's life. Yes! Very known scenario, when I think of Barry M in Colorado.
Though I think, the woman, who loves JFG so much and had been arrested, is the first on my listing. Her alibi is worth checking hard, IMO.

About alibis. I think all neighbors, including the one watching TV and missing everything, are worth looking into. I think he is telling the truth, but honestly, all of them live too close by. But I see what you see

We don’t know yet. For one, Barry’s head count was 84 chipmunks. I don’t know what “ecology” Alan was into, but hardly the same.

When Karen said, she was done with her husband (and IF it is true, that she said so), then I believe, something very important happened before and during communication with her husband. The filing for divorce was only the icing on the cake and should be the final point once and for all. If Karen said so "I'm done", I think, her husband had exploited or abused their marriage-arrangement.

I don't think, AC has to be the murderer or responsible, but at least it wasn't a perfect marriage with his lovable wife (BM would have said "his angle").

We don’t know that much about AC. Also, Alan lives far away and can’t be controlling everything Karen does on a daily basis. BM, it seems, virtually had his nose in every plate.

What cripples this case is that so little is written in English. What I read comes mostly from gossipy magazines and poorly composed.

I found some French sources. Some are based on TV/media and present information normally. (The relationship is characterized in one word, “estranged”. Not “he said, her friend said”).

One source is very interesting but I am not sure it would be considered “mainstream”.

I shall read more tomorrow evening and let you know how it feels.

P.S. if the relationship is “reasonably new” (for a few months, I read) and both K and J-F are “discreet” but live in a small village so it becomes “an open secret” sooner than they expect, then likely, AC hears about it from his relatives living nearby. But, what do we know about “amicably estranged” people? Maybe they have occasional relationships that never amount to anything serious so this one, too, is initially viewed as such?

Everything published in the French media so far has been posted here, so in that regard language isn't an issue. Also plenty of regular English newspapers have published information on the case.

I don't know if it's still true, but one of he early articles mentioned that M-L was at the wine tasting event as well, quoting the investigators:

IF she was there, when did M-L leave the event? How did she get home? Why did it take so long to clear her?

I am in a difficult situation here.
I read a long story about the life in the area, and i can submit it for approval, but I myself doubt if it is fully credible. I think it is generally factual, but the author exaggerates. His style is not bad, but everything is either "magnifique" or "splendide". However, that author specified that M-L was not invited to the wine tasting event and that it was held at J-F's "resplendant" property on the hill.

If the wine tasting event was truly held at his (barn?), this it is in synch with another article.

Then, Karen went home, and J-F probably wanted to join her quietly later. He called K because ML was living nearby and probably, was not too happy about the situation, plus, uninvited? When K didn't answer, JF got anxious.

But didn't he have to wrap up the event, or ask the guests to dissipate? Anyhow, him hosting the event at his property, ML being uninvited, K going home earlier and JF getting anxious about K not answering the call (but having to lock the barn first) makes the sense.

About ML, I wonder who provided an alibi for her?

P.S. work might be different. She used to be a caretaker. If she continued doing it privately, let me tell you, my dad's caretaker took an excellent care of him, but she could clean someone's apartment as he slept as well. If you asked me, I'd say, she surely took care of him, but i was not in the house!

It's interesting how several expats gave statements about the victim, while the locals emphasize how safe the villages is.

Another woman, who gave her name as Sylvie, guffawed with laughter when asked if Tremolat had a crime problem.

“Not to my knowledge, this is the first, I hope.”

Other locals:

“You could leave your bag in a field and three days later it will still be there.

“It’s so safe here, too safe, so we can’t imagine that kind of thing happening. People are just waiting for the end of this story, that’s it.”

Because if M-L A was VP of the committee for the Cafe*, and J-P G was the President, why wouldn’t she have been a part of it?

Although, I thought I also read J-P G recently stepped down, so maybe the board changed..

And in the meantime, Karen’s barn was reportedly locked when she was attacked (so the killer could not be waiting inside).

J-F, per article, also locked the door to his barn before driving to KC’s house. Either realtors are exaggerating it and people don’t intentionally leave doors unlocked, or, if they do, what prompted KC and JFG to lock theirs?

I, too, remember reading that JPG was the “President” of Cafe Village (which he founded upon settling in Tremolat). Then he “stepped down” and Karen took over, I read. M-LA’s name was not even public yet so I understand that Karen became the President? Is it possible?

Barry M viciously killed his wife, IMO. He is a whole different kettle of fish. He traumatized his wife beforehand.

Agreed but I think @Skigh was referencing the “I’m done” similarity from both women and the disparaging way in which their husbands reacted in their (alleged) comments afterwards.

Barry as we’ll all remember made the horrible comment about “drunk eyes” for instance.
