Patrick Joseph White, the man police say fired at the CDC campus and killed a DeKalb County police officer Friday, may have used weapons that belonged to his father.

White, 30, lived with his parents in Kennesaw, Georgia. Police found five guns at the scene of the shooting, including four long guns,
The New York Times reports, citing a preliminary report from the Justice Department.

Some, if not all of these guns, belonged to White’s father, according to the report reviewed by the
Times.

I feel for them.

I do too. It must be both anxiety-inducing & soul-crushing after all the layoffs & vilification & then being actual shooting targets....

The 30-year-old suspect, who died during the incident, had also tried to get into the CDC’s headquarters in Atlanta but was stopped by guards before driving to a pharmacy across the street and opening fire, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Saturday.

A union representing workers at the CDC said the incident was not random and “compounds months of mistreatment, neglect, and vilification that CDC staff have endured.” It demanded federal officials condemn vaccine misinformation, saying it was putting scientists at risk.

snipped and bbm ^

Meanwhile, the federal administration is disbanding union functions like collective bargaining in federal agencies, including Health and Human Services, which the CDC falls under.

Fingers crossed the employees will receive the support they need and deserve. I'm sure they are shaken, as anyone would be if their workplace were riddled with bullets aimed at them.

When I got Dr. Fauci's autobiography from the library, I put it in the trunk because I was concerned about someone seeing it in my car, and vandalize it.

Things like this shouldn't be happening!

I'm wondering why the media is not publishing a photo of the suspect? Anyone have a lead on that?

I don't know why. Maybe he didn't drive (so no license) and wasn't active on social media? Those are just guesses, btw.

I wish LE would either post a photo or address it just to quiet the conspiracy theorists, who I am assuming are running amok with this. idk

What was exactly the illness that he blamed vaccine for?? 🤔

I might have missed this info.

He must have suffered from some serious MH issues.

This case is horrific :(

Yes, it's been posted on the thread, but here's the info, as of now, bbm

A Georgia man who opened fire on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters, shooting dozens of rounds into the sprawling complex and killing a police officer, had blamed the COVID-19 vaccine for making him depressed and suicidal, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Saturday.

Thanks!

I've never heard of SUCH side effects of this particular vaccine.

Oh well...

It's more likely, imo, that his depression was exasperated by misinformation and it was a cylce that feed itself in his mind. imo

A 2022 study found "depression may cause people to be more vulnerable to believing misinformation."

Something seems amiss with this, going quiet without further information/photo. When’s the last time this happened.?
His dad callled LE before the shooting, did he notice firearms missing? Said the son was suicidal. Odd that neighbors were surprised it was him. Picture if home shows 3 vehicles in drive, no mention of siblings.
Just seems that something is missing.

Nobody expects the neighbor down the street to be a killer, even if the guy is off. And, yes, neighbors have mentioned he was fixated on the vaccine and would bring up the topic of vaccines during unrelated conversations. One neighbor in particular said misinformation about the vaccine became part of his identity, essentially. That is not normal. imo. The quote:

“It was a such a belief, it was almost like faith,” Ms. Hoalst said of his obsession with the vaccine. “It was a tenet of who he was.”

Yes, his father likely noticed his own guns missing. It's been quoted at least once, if not more, on the thread that the father contacted LE that his son was suicidal, and he did that, apparently, before the shooting. And, it appears, his father later called to say he thought it was his son who was the shooter.

Yes, it's unusual that his photo has not been made public. I don't know what to make of that and I cringe to think what conspiracy theorists are making up to explain it. Bottomline is, we don't know yet. imo
